Managed poorly by 4 different managers? If you want to play you simply have to show willing and Marriott would rather take a fat cheque and go play golf. Fair enough I suppose, but then he can't expect to be treated any different to any other player as he's done fook all to warrant it.
Compare and contrast Shinnie's attitude when for a long while, he was not making the starting line up. With another tough season very likely to follow the last, that's the type of player we need, not some feckless, fat lad who just can't be arsed. The guy's meant to be a professional sportsman yet he carries as much timber as I do. If he doesn't turn up to pre-season fit and raring to go, we need get shot of him irrespective of the FFP hit. Enough is enough.
I agree that it's more money down the drain and that sucks, but you have to cut your losses somewhere and frankly he's the kind of player we can do without when facing another backs-to-the-wall season. If he comes back fit, great, crack on son, if not, jog on tubbs.

@86 Hair Islands sums this up perfectly for me, great post.
Marriott seemingly has wasted his chance at championship level. 3-4 managers now haven’t played him regularly for us and Sheff Wed. There is no excuse for having a poor attitude/work ethic. He could have been a cult hero - a modern day Booby Davison, he’s in his last chance saloon and I don’t hold out much hope for him.
Ibe - Has had his chance, doesn’t seem to take responsibility  for his fitness. He put out a post about him being back to work last season, but it was him ambling around the training ground kicking balls meekly into an empty net, not exactly grafting. Still doesn’t seem right mentally according to his social media. Won’t play for us again. Release him this pre season.
Bobby Duncan - whooooo?? All the fanfare for an U23 squad player!

I’m sure the club and PFA have offered lots of professional support for Jordon. He’s been working with Shane Nicholson, as mentors go, you’ll struggle to find one better than him after everything he’s been through.

So much talent, yet so little return. Marriott just can't be arsed to train and as such, he's not going to get the game time he needs to be match sharp. He never seems more than half fit and is constantly picking up niggles as a consequence. He's had a bunch of chances now and just doesn't seem to care about football that much and Derby County even less. It's gutting to feel this way as I was so certain he was going to be the next Bobby D, but I fear his ship has sailed. If he doesn't show up to pre-season raring to go, I'd be shipping him out to anyone who'll have him just to get some of his wages off the books.
Having been sympathetic to Jordon's issues, I saw a video recently where far from acknowledging the support of the club, or the fans for that matter, he seemed to be saying that there was no support at all, at least until that fateful Insta post that had everyone hopping about. He actually came across as pretty resentful that there'd not been more done for him at Derby, but this is a football club and I'm not entirely sure what he expects. Also seemed to resent that fact that he'd been questions raised over his frequent lateness for training. Having believed he'd be an epic signing, I'm now fast losing faith that he'll be even remotely meaningful for us. He says he's in a better place now and good to go, but I'm not feeling it to be honest. To my mind, the club, the fans and the coaching staff HAVE tried to be supportive and patient, now it's up to Jordon. If it's not to be then fine, but don't be making out that you've not been given a shot, nor that most fans have not been encouraging and patient.
As for Duncan, well he's just vanished into the footballing ether. I'm not sure he's even had an U23 start yet, let alone threatened the senior squad. When he has, it's been hard to see what all the fuss is about. Perhaps he needs a run of games, but one has to then ask, why, if he's the 'wunderkind' we were led to believe, has he not been able to secure a few more starts?  Perhaps he's not as good as the Scouse faithful and he himself thinks? The only mitigating factors I can see being there's a some decent players in front of him to dislodge for him to be starting games, but that hardly bodes well for his senior career.
All in all, three depressing signings thus far for me, with little to indicate that this will change soon, if ever. Historically I've always been super supportive where the players are concerned, but this is a season where I'd really like to see one or two more kick on. The way I see it, it's the last chance saloon for two of them. Duncan, at least, has time on his side, but if the other two fail at Derby, I can't see other clubs rushing in to take a flyer.
Sorry for the less than cheery post! ?‍♂️

Not sure Lampard deserves the level of hate he gets from some on here. He was part of a very enjoyable season, we came very close to promotion. His signings were decent under him, not his fault they’ve been poor after he left. Yes his departure was drawn out, but overall he had a positive impact on this club. Cheers Frank!

    Don't apologise, it's a forum ?
Youth development is a complicated skill - you have to navigate the dips in form, make sure they aren't overplayed whilst they are getting used to the level (as per your point) but also carefully manage confidence. We currently have a manager who plays young lads out of position, has called them out in public & drops them a lot quicker than more experienced players performing badly. No idea how any of that is conducive to their development & that's why I'm arguing there is a clear link between Rooney's management of the young lads & the lack of youth impact on the first team this season. It's also telling how Cocu got Bird, Knight & Sibley firing last season despite the team being in a similarly precarious position around New Year - that is a manager who knew how to introduce & develop youth.
Re wanting a change of manager & creating the right environment - I would point to players like Kazim, Waghorn, Marshall, Shinnie & Davies who are all experienced & have a positive mentality. The key problem is having an incompetent manager at the helm.

No Roy, I asked first. You don't get to ignore the initial question then change the narrative & demand an answer - not how it works.
Why have our kids gone backwards under Rooney?

You’re judging them after Lampard left. It’s not Lampard fault that they’ve all been crap after he left. Whilst he was at Derby, his signings were half decent for his season in charge. Malone was pretty good under Lampard, not 3 million worth but decent. Marriott had a good season. Waghorn was solid. JoFlo, yeah I’ll give you that one.

If and when we can start signing players again and if we are looking at freebies then Dan Cowley has been released by Birmingham.
Looked good against us then lost his way under Karanka, he looked a good player at this level skilful and combative and still only 23.

I’ve not read everything on here, but generally I think that’s what has happened. People realise Morris had good intentions, but Morris and Pearce, have messed up on a massive scale. Fingers need to be pointed at those responsible for this mess, and those 2 are at the top of the pile. This is a terrible time to be a Ram. People should be outraged that this has happened. It’s mismanagement of the highest standard.

The really worrying thing is this....all of this is going to take time, finding a buyer,it all going through, finding out our punishment from EFL etc etc
In the meantime the clock ticks and this was alluded to by Rooney after the last game, I mean lets be realistic  there is every chance this un-certainty is going to rumble on for some time maybe even into next season.
In the meantime we miss potential suitable upgrades, free transfers , players released etc etc and go into next season in far worse shape than when we ended this season maybe even managerless as not sure Rooney will hang around if this rumbles on
It is a mess and the quicker it is sorted the better but this has been said so many times and at this moment in time we seem as far away from being a settled club than ever......very worrying times indeed .....It would be fantastic to be just talking about football rather than all of this off the pitch stuff.

Because when a club spends money (any money) on a player, it is not unreasonable to believe that the finance has been worked out, that budgets are in line and so on. It is easy now to conclude that the club has been pretty bad at that. Because one celebrated a transfer at the time then discovered the consequence and became pissed off, doesn't make one a hypocrite.
Truth emerges. People become better informed. All those kids that lapped up Jim'll Fix it aren't hypocrites.

We will never play in the champs league, win the league or get to an FA Cup final. They’ve rolled the dice, had a bit of luck but crucially done it at the right time when the money has rolled into the premier league and completely re-set the football order. I honestly don’t think we’ll get back in the premier league and if we do 4th bottom is our best hope. It’s gutting.
But to be honest this season has completely re-set my expectations. I just want a football club to support going forward.

    Where to begin...
Not appointed a rookie manager in Clement and then give him about 20 million to waste.
Not walk in the changing rooms undermining said rookie manager.
Not sacking managers on a regular basis.
After sacking managers, appointing their replacement who has a completely different playing style.
    Not mentioning the ‘Derby way’
Not spending millions of pounds on guff which means having to sell/get loans for the training ground and stadium.
Appointing Stephen Pearce as chief exec despite him messing up countless contracts and not keeping finances in check in his previous job as finance officer.
Basically, pretty much everything has gone tits up under his stewardship. Great intentions, heart in the right place, but it’s been a disaster.
