OoooMarkWright got a reaction from angieram in Exeter City (A) Tues 18th April
Good win. Very good first 30 of the second half.
The trio of McGoldrick, NML and Sibley showed a lot of promise at times. Good movement, interchanges and allowed us some flexibility at times in midfield. Some promising signs. Typical that we concede just after going 2 up, they like to make us suffer. Back 3 solid and Knight and Roberts looked good. Exeter weren’t great, but that was better. We’ll done lads 🐏🐏

I disagree. He has lost his bite. He gets bullied off the ball more than he ever did and has lost an edge to his game. I go back to the Man Utd cup game, he had a great battle with McTominay not giving an inch. I’ve not seen that in the last 2 seasons. I’d rather the odd petulant booking than meek shadow performances. I feel he’s gone too far the other way and it’s had a negative effect on his game.
I agree, the switch in positions has had a negative effect, I made that point earlier. It beggars belief why in this league, when we had Roberts fit, that Sibley wasn’t played further forward.

44k would be way too big for Derby. I’d hate playing in an almost half empty stadium. 33k is perfectly big enough for our size.
Second rate sounds a little harsh, but the stadium suits Derbys standing. It’s big enough and of a suitable quality. We’re not one of the top clubs in the country, it was built 25yrs ago and clubs have developed stadia in that time. No big deal.

It’s worth pointing out that when Knight, Sibley and Bird first broke through that Cocu side was effectively set up to get the best out of the young players. The model was effectively what happens to Bogle, in that they should get a couple of seasons i and around the first team, be sold for £5million plus and we bring through the next player in that position. A lot of Sibley and Knight’s goals in that first season were about the movement or lay offs from Martin and Waghorn. The three young players were learning from the experienced heads around them. The problems started in that second season, Martin was gone and Waghorn was a shell of his former self. You could also argue that Rooney was probably too late in his career to effectively mentor Bird on the pitch before his retirement. The season had turned into a scrap and with it, any sort of ‘on the pitch development’ of these players went with it. Although we stayed up the season we were under these long term embargo’s and couldn’t bring anyone in who could mentor these three.
I think that’s where we are. They effectively lost two years of mentorship and with it Derby have probably lost £10million plus in revenue. So that’s another knock on effect of the Mel Morris mess!

I think that’s the point @David they’ve been messed around which has hindered their development, Sibley more so. He should have been ‘the one’. Rooney ruined him and he’s not recovered. He needs that bite in his game that many have criticised him for on here. I hope he can come good. I’ve no idea why managers haven’t played him in his best position. Such a waste.

I think you’re letting his reputation cloud your views. In a Rams shirt he was average. He was always injured and never got a proper run of games. Looking at him now, he wasn’t disciplined enough to look after himself. A luxury as we knew he was. He didn’t really produce the goods. We went down and the cycle continued, despite him winning POTY in the champ, we were terrible that year and were near the bottom.

Great for Man City. Very average for us barring a couple of flashes vs Wimbledon and Leeds. Poor signing.

Nah. For the ability he had we saw little bar 5 or 6 games. A midfield of Burley, Lee and Kinkladze with Ravanelli, Christie and Carbone up top as options shouldn't be getting relegated.

That's the one. Unfortunately, we had a Foletti in goal for Unsworths freekicks the week after, when we lost 4-3 to a poor Everton side who should have gone instead.

I disagree in some ways. I don’t buy this plan b malarkey. If Plan A is good enough then it only needs tweaking, no top teams ever completely change to plan B.
Today was a game of 2 halves. We were great first half but created little. They were the opposite and buried us 2nd half. Our midfield was poor. No bite, overran. Warne didn’t react. Bringing Collins on when our midfield was over ran made little sense. Sibley should’ve been the first sub. A midfield of Bird, White, Hourihane is too lightweight.
Massive struggle for the playoffs. Time to step up Derby!

OoooMarkWright reacted to Jortat in Paul Warne appointed as Head Coach
First half we played well but didn’t create enough clear cut chances.
Second half they changed their shape and made a couple of substitutions and we didn’t adapt to it.
I couldn’t really see their goals properly as the sun was at an annoying angle but I thought we did ok and Peterborough are smash and grab merchants.
Our squad is threadbare and it’s really starting to show.
But it ain’t over yet .

Drapers Arms is the away pub, it’s a Wetherspoons but has had a recent refurb. Just over from the train station is the Brewery Tap which is miles better. Load of Oakham Ales. Charters is great but will be rammed. Outside area is massive with outside bars too.
