Ghost of Clough reacted to Ramarena in Derby v Peterborough
This is a pivotal point in our season. How we react to this defeat will be definitive I feel.
We can still break into the autos if we can put another run together.
Not sure what some people are on with their knee jerk get rid of this or that player.

Ghost of Clough got a reaction from angieram in Morgan Whittaker
To go all xG and everything... he's scored twice as many goals as his xG suggests he should have, and 50% more assists. Youd have to watch the goals themslves to determine if he was lucky or he's just a good finsher [hint: he was always a very good finisher at youth level]. He also has the 4th highest attacking contribution in the league (shots and key passes per 90).

I remember Arthur Cox saying soon after signing Ted McMinn that he was already looking for his replacement. For a team to truly progress they should sign players that will be automatic starters, and then sign an even better player when available (always within a sensible budget) so that the displaced becomes a sub or is sold on at a profit. Obviously this is in an ideal scenario, but it should be the aim.

Here's a comparison of directness in graph form:
I've been watching it change as the season progresses, and we've gone from the most direct team in the league playing few passes per sequence, to one which is slightly less direct and passing it more. In an ideal world, you'd be in the top right of the graph, but the best sides are typically found in the lower right section. Due to averaging, we'll actually be more like Portsmouth at this exact moment in time.
I've also marked up where the most direct side in the Championship (red) and Premier League (oramge) is positioned.
Average directness doesn't change much throughout the divisions, but number of passes does. From 2.9 in L1, to 3.4 in the Championshop and 3.6 in the PL.

You might be right, but my gripe was more with the style of play and some turgid performances. Not only have results improved but we are now playing some decent football. Long may it continue 😊🐏

I liked the variety of players getting involved in the 3 goals, but also Hourihane's involvement in them all (even if one of them was a little tap to the side)...
Goal for Forsyth
Assist and goal for Cashin
Assist and two pre-assists for Hourihane
Goal for Thompson
Assist for Collins
