Maybe im being melodramatic but im a bit pissed with him.

i get that footballs a short career , theres no loyalties etc

but IF preferred bidder is end of this week .. would it really kill him for the club he supposedly “loves” and “doesnt want to leave” to hold fire a week or two?

We get a contract on him and we protect a potentially valuable asset and can at least get some of the money back weve put into giving him a career.

u would think whoever the PB is would literally be offering our young players contracts to protect those assets with minutes of getting their name above the door

just hugely disappointing and yet another body blow for us to absorb

The problem is that the players and staff, just like the fans, have heard a stream of BS deadlines and may have come to the same conclusion - that you can put any faith in any of them.

Eventually, of course, if they keep saying 'by the end of the week', they have a good chance of being right That's if there are any bidders at all) but when is that 'eventually'?

Anyone who's ever worked for a company that looks like it's going down the pan will know you've got to think about your own future. There's no loyalty from the company - they'd throw you out on your arse if they could - look at P&O for an extreme example -so any loyalty you show them may well end up with you out of a job in a month or two.

Ah, so there it is. One of our academy’s most promising products in years leaves for free. Once again, duck you Mel Morris. duck you

Morris' legacy. It's what he wanted.

Think you are probably realising yourself now that this isn’t a real option ?

It may well not be. But the fact of the matter is that Derby County does not own the ground. This is a big negative but on the positive side, Derby County has no liability for the ground. The two entities are entirely separate, so the club is not tied to any aspect of the ground.

And I would absolutely love Morris to get shafted over it.

You would lose a lot of travelling fans

Probably. On the other hand, there are plenty of people that travel from all sorts of places anyway - from all over the county, for a start.

It might test the patience of some but being peripatetic for a period might be the price we have to pay to have a club to support.

Burton capacity 6,912 of which 1,400 is the away end 2,034 seated, limited hospitality. Have you thought about telling Everton they don’t need a new ground, they could share with Tranmere rovers

Just an example. It doesn't need to be Burton. Port Vale, Stoke City, Chesterfield, Sheffield something-or-other etc etc

If you move from Pride Park, you are likely to lose it forever or a very long time....it would be a disastrous decision regardless of the league we are in.

Worked for Coventry. A stadium owner that thinks they hold all the cards and the club called their bluff.

How many does Burton hold? Not practical surely…

It's more practical than dealing with Morris.

Whichever league we end up in, 1 or 2, it'll give the club a chance to finally cut its cloth to suit. It'll only be free signings and stuff anyway.

And Morris will be left with an enormous white elephant that he owes £20M on.

I can’t see how the stadium is s block. We know it’s owned by Mel and not in administration. We probably know Mel owes money to MSD via the stadium.

Plus if I remember correctly he said a while ago that the new owner could lease the stadium from him. Which in theory means a new owner does not to need to find extra money straight away to purchase the stadium.

The stadium isn't a block at all. As I have suggested before, a new owner could (should?) buy the club and cut a deal with Burton to play home games there. Let Morris be left high and dry. The Bamford would deserve it.

Do we know Ashley is still at the table?

    I don't think anybody is.

I also get the feeling (and it's just a feeling) that the Binnie bid wasn't 'rejected' - The Binnies thought better of it once they got more details of the state of the club.
