Agreed. There is a logic and philosophy to how Warne wants to setup and play. It’s predicated on moving the ball quickly as to not allow the opposition to settle. In turn, often leaves ourselves too open and unsettled ironically, but there is a theorem behind it that works. I completely understand.

It also doesn’t require highly technical footballers to implement, the system offers a lot of creative freedom, which is why he likes players that will run with the ball, but ultimately you’re running and then passing into space.

With that being said, I have absolutely no idea why the recruitment strategy didn’t align with his vision. I would say he needs runners all over the pitch for his strategy to work. In the past he’s had Ladapo, Ogbene, Ihiekwe, Harding, Carlton Morris, Olosunde, Crooks, Vaulks… a whole host of grafters, willing runners and athletically gifted attackers.

I think tbf we are still operating to the agreed business plan… none of us know for sure but id wager we are still being restricted on aspects of our business.

It also takes time, all the targets / types of players needed to fashion such a team arnt all going to be available or attainable in one transfer window.
people will point to “well he was here last season” … well yes he was but so was our highly restrictive embargo

Imo.. we have to exercise time and patience… as tough as it is at times

(good post by the way, enjoy discussing views with yourself👍)

I don't think people should be revisionists in the hiring of Paul Warne -- he had everything that was used as a stick to beat Rosenior with. He had experience as a manager, at this level, he played football with an emphasis on getting the ball forward quickly. No one can hammer Clowes for hiring a manager with three promotions in three attempts at this level, all while utilising a budget less than roughly half of our own. He knew the division really well and I think we all thought that he would iron out the nativity in the team shown under Rosenior. He did, for a period, which shows me that a mixture of the two of them garnered the best results. A possession based football team, not afraid to overload wide areas and get the ball forward quickly between November, December & January.

All that being said, we focused on what he brought to the table that Rosenior couldn't, but ignored what Rosenior brought to the table that he couldn't IMO. One thing that I've learned that I previously overlooked is that we really need someone who understands the demands of this football, Warne has often tried to apply a mentality and mindset that isn't aligned with the supporters - the game today highlights that in that he tried to go to Bolton and play counter-attacking football. I'd understand if we played a Premier League side, but never did I expect to see a Derby County team set up in that manner in the third tier of English football. It leaves a bitter taste in the mouth. It's only the fourth season at this level in the club's history.

I have no love for Warne at the moment, I just feel his football philosophy (although I can understand some of the logic behind it) doesn't align with what I want. Results aside, I feel a lot of people feel the same way. Wins offer some respite, but every loss is focused on the same things. It just feels like this is leading to an inevitable conclusion already, not because i don't feel like we won't make top 6, but because people don't like his strategy. It's eerily similar to both Nigel Pearson and Gary Rowett. Rowett got results, but wasn't liked - every loss raised the same questions. I would include Clement too.

Next time I would make it a priority to find a manager who has had some form of success at a big club as a player or coach/manager.

Some good and fair points mate.

the thing with football is pretty simple.

win (ilke last week) and no one moans… lose like today and people moan.

the thing is, if people can see that something is being built.. aka rosenior or dare i say Nigel and theres an attempt to play football, greater patience is awarded.

play s******** football where its just running around after seemingly aimless balls then patience is v thin.

its happened here, its happened at every other club.

im certainly not a fan of certain aspects of warnes style but like the total football route that lets say notts county are employing, it can work.

the problem is when it doesnt theres a lot less patience from the fanbase.

As I said in my post... "playing in a false LM position". Prior to our midfield signings and after Bird's injury, Warne publicly stated he had no senior CMs available other than Hourihane and Smith. That tells you everything you need to know.

Think its more about giving tommo time on the pitch

cos of out circumstances … he was fast tracked into mens 1st team football.

while he has ability he is still v raw and i can totally see why warne would plumb for more senior (better .. debatable ) pros ahead of him in their preffered possition to tommo

tommo is in the first team pictures and very much part of it but until he gets more experience his youthfullness and energy can play a key role in some areas others simply couldnt do

This is the manager who doesn't consider Thompson to be a viable option at CM, nevermind the likes of DRobinson and Radcliffe, which is why he was barely used last season, used at LWB in pre-season, then used as a false LM in his few appearances this season.

He complained that the squad was too small which resulted in the players being burnt out, but only used 1 player from the U21 squad in the league last season (Rooney).

Didnt he play last week and praised by warne ? 🤔

Another complete mess again, even if they signed no one they would easily have stayed up due to the promoted clubs being so poor

I haven’t heard of any of the ones they have signed at this point

    Really? Origi? Hudson odoi?

the others are even better tbf.

but as i say it doesnt matter cooper will put a waisteband around them all stopping them venturing past the halfway line

Good window for Forest. They might have a chance of finishing 12th now. Few more quality additions next season might hit the dizzy heights of 11th, then the decline starts as they need to sell players off.

They’re signing good players but many average prem clubs also are - Palace might be getting Ekitike from PSG for example.

Doesnt matter how many good players they sign cooper will keep them firmly embedded in their own penalty box for his “low press” aka park the bus and ride our luck approach

Anybody else getting annoyed at being linked with anyone who played at Rotherham

Think its called cheap clickbait mate

if u look at the players weve actually signed the vast majority have little to no connection with rotherham

How successful are you being with your Avon, Tupperware and Prudential enterprises? Ann Summers parties are the next big thing I understand. Get in early.

    Lol

im not trying to sell anyone anything.

i started this topic to discuss bitcoin, the bigger macro picture and whats happening to the money in our pockets or pension pots.(more specifically mine)

it took me a long time to realise but when u take a step back its there for all to see, money printing, currency debasement, inflation tax etc etc

hence why iv put a small portion of my savings into bitcoin. I wanted to gage others opinions and share what i have learnt.

It’s to give Bitcoin pumpers some kind of credibility so they can pump it even more.

For the record if i or anyone else were looking to pump bitcoin the time wouldnt be now… it would be in the top of the bull run to help me exit my position.

anyone long term holding btc as i am aint selling s*** 6-8 months before the halving and having only just exited the bear market

If you think that just because people can access Bitcoin through an ETF that they are suddenly going to rush out and buy it think again.

    Did i say that?

Its just another form of adoption… just keep stacking them to the pile

Just out of interest do u know what the use case for a bitcoin ETF is?

    genuine question 👍

    And ?

bitcoin operates in 4 yearly cycles … formed around part of its inbuilt programming known as the halving.

see if u can find the same chart for the price end of last cylce 😉

ill save u the bother.. btc topped at 19k … it then finished its next cycle with a top of 69k

its currently sat at 27.9k and we’re about 6-8 months away from the next halving.

    And ……. this just happend.

With this ruling one of the 3 biggest asset management firms on the planet will be able to add btc to their clients pension pots should they so desire

side note… greyscale have access to something to the tune of 30 trillion dollars

    think thats called adoption

Not his shot stopping but his shithousery.

After Peterbrough got their second one of their players took the ball off him and he went down holding his head. He was not touched on his head. He stayed down and got treatment for a fake injury.

I hate faking, but faking head contact is just trying to get a player sent off. Needs stamping out the game.

Might need to ask whoever then to go do the rounds at every other football league club

its part of the game now sadly
