No academy lads starting, great stuff Warne👍 what's the point in paying millions each year for a category one academy if Warne neglects it? I'm sorry but it's ridiculous.

Theres 3 on the bench ..

If suitable theyll get game time

kinda think its more important to give the likes of sibley and wilson some much need football

Mel sacked him before the next transfer window opened and he was stuck with the failing relegation threatened players (and injuries too). He still turned it around.

I get the sense ur a mac fan roy lol

my memory of mac 2 was that with lesser players it just wasnt as good ..

and was too easy to play against.. stop the quarter back.. jullian de saart stop us playing.

most teams figured it out pretty quickly i seem to remember.

Id rather try simmo personally if we had to change

    No, that was Mac 1.

Mac 2 was more defensive, not as much fun. Julian De Sart and a 3-0 defeat at Brighton was how it ended. No where near as good as Mac 1, more cautious. One decent run and then the usual wheels came off when he had to react to a bad spell. He couldn’t turn it round. Move on folks!

2nd time he didnt land on his feet with a fantastically talented and hungry young set of players

Nope. It was when he stopped the threat of relegation but the squad was very limited. Seen laughing in tv with the Brighton(?) manager and Mel said 'not on'.

The reality was he hadn't wanted Mac back anyway, and now he'd chance to get Rowett in who he did want, before anyone else signed him. Sort of like us getting Warne in before any other club got in there first.

When was the newcastle thing then ?

cos that took the piss… he had ample opportunity to put it to bed v easily and he let it drag on and on to the point it became a big issue

Im sure that was his second comming

So is Clowes a lot less patient saying our budget is good enough for promotion? Yeah of course we expect promotion but just as importantly we would like to see football played 'the right way'.

    Time will tell wont it

he strikes me as a far cry from mad mel and a lot more level headed. The question will be if the fan on him doesnt start to have a say in his judgement

We saw what he did last season as well. Those players may not have been his first choice, but that's often how it is for football managers. He hit lucky on an unbeaten streak, but had no idea how to replicate it.

Oh and no clubs fans are patient, unless you know who are?

True but clubs like derby, forest and leeds and the like are a lot less patient due to expectactions cos of our size and where we believe historically we belong (rightly or wrongly)

Fortunately, the majority of the players we have are suited to a slower possession based game and lot of players are out of contract in the summer too.

Therefore, a manager who knows how to set a team up to play a possession based game would be ideal, with the view to increasing the intensity of play once we can make the changes to the squad.

Would be interesting to see how long sections of the fanbase gave this new manager to implement a new playing style with a new group of players … warnes had what less than 10 games? With the 9 new players we recuited in the summer

The club should come with a warning to any new manager that we’re not really v patient round here

Manager roulette - you can argue Mac (twice) and Clement were sacked too soon but not the rest. Pearson should never have been hired in the first place, and Cocu was given the chance to turn things around before being fired. Rowett, Lampard and Rooney all made the choice to leave.

Stockpiled players - was a result of not having a coherent plan regarding style of play, with hiring managers who have a different style to the last manager. Fast attacking style, to slow possession, to defensive football, back to attacking, then slow possession again, etc. Hiring manager with an intended style of play in mind reduces the liklihood of players not suited the next manager's plans, thus reducing the chance of a blotated squad.

Big contracts and payoffs - these are less risky if the manager is hired based on the club's style of play.

    Agree… aka the brentford model

but this is derby county and i assume from current public outcry we would want a manager with a different style to the current one

and the merrygo round and stockpiling would begin again
