Is the delay due to some ‘key’ players holding out for a better deal? Wildsmith and maybe Sibley spring to mind.

It does seem for whatever reason that we’re sitting on this topic, would be surprised if there’s no particular reason for it.

Or maybe it's just because they've been in Vegas til the middle of last week?

Can’t help it, footballers who don’t like football irk me at the best of times

May I ask why? It's their job, does everyone like the job that they do? Or do you do a job because you happen to be good at it?

  3. What a day! Just a great end to the season. How fitting that Max should score in his final game, I genuinely hope he enjoys the change he seems to have wanted. We must sign Ebou, he was absolutely everywhere today, and seemed to completely love the after match celebrations! I know this League has not been to everyone's taste, but I've enjoyed visiting new grounds and new cities. And of course spending time with my boy, and being able to celebrate with him today at an age that he will remember! Looking forward to seeing how Mr Warne gets on next season. When's the fixture list out?😁 COYR!

  4. Lovely post @DarkFruitsRam7. My lad is around your age, he sort of remembers being at Wembley as a seven year old for the West Brom game, we have pictures which help, but he doesn't remember the feelings or emotions of the day, and at that age would haven't appreciated them anyway. IF we finish the job next weekend, I don't want to tempt fate, I hope that he can bottle up the feelings and memories and have them for the rest of his life. And what a privilege for me, as his parent, to experience it with him.

  5. Well, that was an enjoyable day, thought I might end up in the row in front when we scored! The second half sure wasn't pretty, but at this point who gives a flying fig, we just need to get the job done. Shout out to Sonny and particularly Cash, who literally threw himself at the ball at times to defend the goal. One more point to go, COYR!

I used to love the thrill of finding out which number ticket to tear out of the little book when you arrived at the ground.

I never did understand why it didn't just go in numerical order! Is there a really simple explanation?

  7. Apologies if this has been mentioned before, but has anyone seen the bit on twitter about Bolton's season ticket launch video? It unfortunately includes a picture of Derby fans by mistake under the wording" All Wanderers". Just made me laugh. Maybe someone cleverer than me can link it.

  8. Really enjoyable game today, good atmosphere and probably the least nervous I have felt in a while. An early goal always helps! I thought everyone played well so hard to pick anyone out today, but well done to Sonny for atoning for his red card debacle! Looking forward to Cambridge now, I hope results go our way so that we can finish the job there and enjoy the last game already up, but as this is Derby I'm not really expecting that! COYR!

Goals are randomly distirbuted (Poisson). The number of goals per near-goal events (the accurate measure of quality in an ideal model, NOT chances) is in the long run the same for every team, Derby or Man City, being off that in any given period is chance. The discrepancies you mention are mainly not due to the imperfections of the models (and they are imperfect) but the even bigger imperfections of the goal system as a metric (binary, most events ignored, no specificity).

A simpler way to show this: Assume two equal teams, playing at exactly the same level all the time. If goals weren't random they would draw every single time. More often than not they won't.

Is it just me, or does anybody else have no idea what any of this means?
