Its been 4231, Rooney was playing right back until his injury then Smith played there on Saturday, or are you saying Smith was right centre back on Sat too? We’ve been absolutely spanked for the last 18 months at academy/u23 level. We lost all of our decent prospects. Maybe we don’t have the talent at the minute to make the step up. He does look a prospect, liked how he played in pre season and has a bit of physicality for a young lad. I was hoping he’d get a start tonight but at least he’s in the squad along with Robinson and Brown. My assumption of Warne’s rationale is put a strong side out using first team players to get them minutes and be competitive, then ideally there’ll be a sensible amount of minutes for the younger lads. Smith seems to be the sitting midfielder in front of them. Early intent seems to be to use Elder and Wilson for width.
