I reckon it's a waste of time having a separate queue or terminal for people coming in from amber or red countries.

Ok. Put them in a separate queue. What happens once they all clear the airport? Heathrow for example. They're all going to mix together on a coach, train, or underground anyway.

The red country people have to isolate in a hotel for 10 days costing 1,750 per person. I really hope there are things in place to prevent any interaction with anyone else, but I won't hold by breath.

I was also assuming that arrivals from amber countries would be kept away from others too, especially as they need to isolate for 10 days at home. Would seem stupid allowing them on public transport. If you are charging a fortune for red country hotel quarantines, seems reasonable to get yellow country arrivals much less to get home privately.

It's probably a shambles though if the queues are anything to go by.

No chance for the 21st in my opinion mate , the government and scientists seem determined to delay it

Some scientists and the media i would say but the noises from government are opposite of this..this today from the BBC website

Asked about the prime minister's plans amid warnings over the spread of the Indian variant, a No 10 spokesman says: "I was going to point to what the PM said on Thursday."

On Thursday, Johnson said: "I don't see anything currently in the data" to divert from the 21 June target for the next stage of exiting lockdown. But he did concede that "we may need to wait" for more data.

The spokesman continues: "The prime minister has said on a number of occasions that we haven't seen anything in the data but we will continue to look at the data, we will continue to look at the latest scientific evidence as we move through June towards 21 June."

I'm slightly puzzled as to why people (in general rather than specifically on here) are getting so cross about the prospect of the 21 June date getting put back

From what I can work out, the only additional things you would be able to do then that you can't do now are major events and full scale weddings/funerals. Otherwise, life feels pretty much bearable again to me. I can visit my friends/family in their homes, and I can go to the pub and sit inside.

The stupid thing IMO was that they ever announced 21st June as an "irreversible" date where all restrictions would be lifted - back in February. If they can't promise it now - at 3 weeks  away - why the hell did they promise it on Feb 22nd?

But on balance, I'd far rather spend the summer like we are today, than lift all restrictions on June 21st (for stuff I'm not planning to do anyway) and have us end up in another bloody lockdown within weeks

Good YOUR ok?

No sign of that then.

Exponential increase of the 'Indian' variant, yes, certainly.

Too soon to tell for definite signs of any repercussions of that, because it tends to take 2-3 weeks for the (seemingly) inevitable to follow. The problem as I see it won't be the 'deaths' figure, but hospitalisations which would have knock-on effects elsewhere within the health service.

Of course, if it culls a proportion of the the "Won't vaccinate" brigade, then the outcome of that would be a smaller but more intelligent population.

You'd have thought that's how it would work ?. If that is what was happening though , I'd have expected to see loads of people , being guided to coaches , a bit like away fans being escorted from a ground. Maybe I missed it .

Still not seen the stats on how it compares to the previous majority variant.

Still low in comparison to crest of the wave!

Not really, probably just those who wouldn't leave their homes for anything! ?

The media and scientists.

Every time anything happens they are scratching around for the latest 'expert scientist' who will give them their doom mongering view.

Its interesting that other scientists, with the same qualifications but the opposite view would be referred to as 'fringe scientists' rather than experts.

The media want the lockdown re-opening putting back purely so they can rip into the Government with 'but you promised we would scrap all measures on June 21st' type questions.

Absolute vermin.

They are the same media who persuaded the population to give the Tories a landslide. Can't have it both ways.

Anyway, this caught my attention earlier...

The idea of the red routes is that you are karted off to a hotel and have to quarantine there.
The issue really is that I can fly from Mumbai, via Faro in Portugal and then join the green gang.. it’s complicated..

The queues are not too bad now. Little Angry was 60 mins on Monday coming back in.. I have a friend who came from Miami and was through in just over an hour.

You would still have to hotel quarantine,  unless you spend 10 days in Faro.

Technically but your flight would not land at T3 which is for the Red leper’s. If you want to find a way, you will.

in more positive news, the guy who flew in from Miami had two visits to check on him.  Not calls, visits.

Do you think that is actually happening? (Your first sentence)
