So far we have been linked with two centre halves, a winger and a defensive midfielder.  They will all add much needed strength to different areas of the team but don’t address the biggest issue we seem to have which is scoring goals.

Where is the striker we so desperately need?

Arthur Scargill

Can't see it being anyone from abroad, way too much messing about for the time left. Niasse wouldn't need to be completed by Monday.

Piggott still around, Gregory looks to be leaving Stoke.

Glenn Murray (Forest), Matej Vydra (Waford), Connor Wickham all linked with championship loans.

Take it were not in for Assombalonga/Diedhou, Grigg is moving but not good enough. Jutkiewicz is on the move.

Vydra started for Burnley today and SKY commentator at Brighton tonight suggested Murray off to Florist...

I’m confused. It is transfer deadline day today isn’t it? Normally there’s a live thread all day on the bbc about it. I know, because I normally spend my wife’s birthday constantly glancing at it. Am I missing something? Did they extend it til tomorrow cos today’s a Sunday?

It'll get good around midnight. You should wait up.

Excellent! Well for a while it looked like no one had any hope we would be able to bring anyone in at all.  So i'm enjoying this and already it seems better than the end of Cocu's first transfer window (I'm not blaming him btw). It might all be about expectations of course. Still, Hamer, Dowell, Paterson anyone?

To be honest, I didn't mind him. Not sure he got enough game time to really get into it here. The way he plays didn't overly fit a Cocu team and he went with Lawrence as first choice. Would be perfect as an irritating wind up merchant in this side, it's well set up for him.

I know what you mean, I went to the home victory against Birmingham and he played well. Did well back at brizzle.  But yes underwhelming presence generally for us at a time when we needed power and pace.
