Exercise Cygnus in 2016?

That's the badger

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Exercise_Cygnus

The fact the current government seemed so resistant to publishing the findings suggests that they're left looking a bit stupid

But in the interests of fairness and not just being Captain Hindsight, i think if you'd asked any of us in 2016 to take the findings seriously we'd have been pretty laissez-faire too

At least now we have a proper real-life exercise to base future preparedness on. As long as it doesn't take another 100 years for the next pandemic. Someone will have deleted the internet by then and all this will have been lost

I'm willing to bet the discussion on hospital capacity will still be raging in here mind. ?

So for months it had been reported that 15% of cases were linked to hospitals. Quite a specific number considering SAGE and the Government have (correctly) been given ranges for everything else. Suspected that the figure of 15% is the lower end of that range and what do you know, they've finally let us no the upper limit and it's 40%.

What a shambles this is. Add in care homes and this whole thing has been one GIANT mess.

Clap that drones.

Up to 40 percent caught it once admitted in first wave.

Wow. No wonder I hardly anyone knew anybody who had it in the first wave, despite massive statistics.

And people still won't wake up. Under 500 deaths for under 50's with no underlying conditions too.

"Wake up" to what? Are you implying that people need to "learn" that people over 50, or that have been diagnosed with a medical condition, simply don't count as humans?

Perhaps he means wake up to the fact that in THIS country and specially now with vaccines proper thought into the policy of destroying EVERYBODY S lives is needed

Also appears that the Government have repeatedly refused to release this information, including refusing a Freedom of Information request.

We must keep on believing what they tell us though. Remember, what reason have they got to lie to us?

Or maybe suggesting that once these people are vaccinated there is extremely low risk of other people dying from it and its time to give people their lives back.

If only the government were competent, and controlled this virus from the start, or even after the first wave. They'd not have needed to take it in the first place.

You forget to mention that the incompetent Government have taken advice from scientists.

We are where we are, and yet some such as yourself, now seem to want to agree with the incompetent Government and extend their controlling of our liberties despite there being no valid reason for them doing so.

So you think there is no valid reason for the lockdowns at the moment ?

Can probably justify them for anout another month.

Anything beyond that I cannot agree with.

So you'd make the decision to open up the country without knowing if they are effective or not and do it regardless  ? Just wondering where you think the government are going wrong at the moment.

The virus mutates as a normal process, I don't know anybody can be definitive at the moment regarding what the future holds
