Steve Bloomer's Washing
Morning all, something for the (international) weekend:Derby County's cult hero Costa Rican joined us for a nostalgic chat in our latest interview special. Wanchope, who scored 28 Rams goals in all competitions, explained how he nearly became a pro basketball player before coming to England, his fiery relationship with Jim Smith, his favourite Derby teammate, and ofcourse *that* Old Trafford debut goal. TimRam
That debut goal is still one of my all time Derby favourite goals. The daft Match of the Day did not even vote this goal of the month! Some flick and turn by Zola won it!
Steve Bloomer's Washing
Agreed, it was an outrage. Hansen never liked him.

MuespachRam
Controversially I would say that if you actually watch the goal again, it’s not that amazing..It is a nice goal but all he does is run down the middle and beat Phil Neville (I think that is the person he bear) I would say rather than being amazing forward play It is terrible defending. He scores loads better goals than that for us.

I said I preferred the one he scored against Man Utd the next season, he prefers the first one. Game of opinions.

Yep the one the next season was better, the one against the victims was also much better. Gary Neville must wake up in cold sweats dreaming of Wanchope he always tipped him to pieces. Andrew3000
Great interview, lovely to think back to those times and so grateful when this drops during the often dull international week. A You Tube rabbit hole awaits me too now. Keep up the good work, it's top notch.

Poynton ram
Poom, Stimac, Eranio, Sturridge, Baino, Wanchope all in the same team - great times indeed
Raich Carter
He came across really well apart from calling us Der-by. You’d have thought he’d know how to pronounce it! good to reminisce about those days - it was a great time to be a Der-by fan ?
Steve Buckley’s Dog
There are two goals on that YouTube video set up by Stimac free kicks. Both of those free kicks would have been passed 5 yards backwards nowadays, for reasons I can never comprehend.
