PrivateDerby
He gets the ball and scores a goal... Robbie Robbie Hulse Fair play to him, NHS like every emergency service and aftercare are up against it at the moment, massive respect for him. Ill never forget that header, saw it coming long before Commons stood over it.
Mafiabob
Most under appreciated striker we had in last 10/15 years. Unfortunately had a lot of bad players around him.....
Steve How Hard?
Very interesting read that. Hats off to RH. Would have been so easy for him to get a cushy job in the game. His dedication to the NHS is admirable.
Boycie
He could he on his heals a few times though, not always anticipating things. But he had a good record, fair play to him.
MackworthRamIsGod
I met him after villa away last year. He said he doesn't like footy and didn't for the last few years of his career, he just did it because he was good at it. Villa away was his first match in years and was only to take his nephew who supports villa.
QuitYourJibbaJivin
I always thought he was event for us, scored some decent goals. I seem to remeber him taking a fair bit of stick though even though he was probably one of our better players during a very dull period.
MackworthRamIsGod
If Boro offered 4 million for him all those years ago I wonder how much he would have been worth now? 8 million to most clubs and 42 million to Liverpool?
1967Ram
I remember sitting in the East Stand with my Son on a bloody freezing day. At half-time I my Son wanted a hot chocolate and he used it as a hand and lap warmer! It had been snowing and we had driven up from our home in Dorset (roads were empty mind!). We got thumped by Scunthorpe (first away win for 10 games). I have vivid memories of us looking like we might get back into it second half! I know - sad isn't it? Anyway when the game was still 'close' Commons (I think) crossed the ball in and 'The Incrfedible Hulse' jumped well and was going to get a header in from around the penalty spot but was pushed in the back and ended up in front of the ball. Penalty all day long in my objective opinion! The ball went down the other end and they scored with in a minute or so. 360 mile round trip, night in a hotel. Bit expensive BUT he's a die-hard Rams Fan now!
kingsy1884
Whilst Commons was unplayable at times he often broke down but if it wasn't for Hulse we would have gone down. 15+ goals a season in a side teetering on relegation. I have massive respect for the guy.
whiteroseram
I love a "where are they now"!! Did we used to have a thread for them or did I make that up?

JoetheRam
It's a cliche but, "good solid pro". Commons is often given the plaudits of carrying that god-awful side, but Hulse was more consistent and his goals were pretty vital in keeping us up. Plus a winner against the Red Dogs when they were unbeaten away until March or so when we played them is a good thing to have on your CV. Often got some unfair criticism from fans for not running around like an idiot - not dissimilar to what Martin got from certain quarters.

Pretty sure that was notts 1st defeat in yonks and properly derailed Billy's auto promotion. A massive 3 points for us too cos we were near the bottom. Van der MoodHoover
We only got him cos he was coming back from serious injury wasn't he? Otherwise we wouldn't have been able to afford him.
RadioactiveWaste
Always thought he was decent in an awful team. I remember when boro offed that money for him at the end of Jan that year we all knew if he left we'd very likely go down. Glad he's found a good occupation post football and fair play if he doesn't love the game anymore he's moved on and seems to be happy.
