Hanson is at a point in his career at Derby now where he either needs to step to being a regular rotation player or move on for regular football. Not getting personal but they just don't fit midfield needs balancing assuming fitness of all we have George, Will, Hanson, Butters, Bryson, Johnson. Which seems top heavy for 2 / 3 places The additions at the back are needed given age / resilience of Shacks and Baird. Forward line .. With CM's return, Nuge Vydra and Weiman in the frame looks reasonably covered. We can do ok with JR/Ince/Anya on the flanks .. Maybe an addition would help. Well I can't speak for everyone, but my decision was based around Johnson being in my top 5 best players from last season. I know it ain't saying a lot, but think he was criminally underrated by many last season, in months of upheaval where most of the midfield struggled he was the most consistent performer. Bryson has done nothing of note consistently for years now really, and struggles with fitness so I'd let him go out to get regular football, seems a nice bloke he deserves it. Add that to the fact like you say he can be the cover for Thorne we've been looking for for ages, and I think you have your answer. For me he is better as a marauder up the pitch but he worked hard and adapted to do a workmanlike job at DM. He can be a wayward and clumsy at times. I have mixed feelings about Bryson since his injury. He has lost a bit of sparkle but with better hold up play he might get an Indian summer. So much of this depends on where we end up with George and how Will fits (or not) in a GR team. In that 4231 I could easily see George and Will as the 2 and with quality behind the front players we might really have something. Rample Posted June 14, 2017 Share Posted June 14, 2017 After Wisdom get Jordan Ibe back in for the left wing, I'd guess on loan and a tough box to box player and that would do for me. There's enough quality and depth besides if you look at youngsters making a step up to squad players. After that it's just a case of replacing any of the first teamers who leave. Christie, Shackell, Butterfield, Bryson, Bent, Camara, Weimann and Olsson all expendable. Loan Hanson and Blackman out to pick up experience and form/fitness respectively.
