Hindsight is interesting isn't it.

Maybe Pearson was desperate to get him out and Fulham would have refused a recall option if it was included and the board bit the bullet to get the deal done as Pearson didn't think Martin had a future at Derby. Remember we agreed a transfer fee as well as a loan fee.

Regarding Chelsea, they are usually loaning out youth players that are no-where near their first-team, so it's a different scenario.

Having said that,when a club asks to recall a player,the recipient club normally obliges....as per forest requesting ward back from Burton who complied despite ward being in their first team and a vital part of their relegation battle.

I guess if the loan contract or the rules governing loans insisted on this we would have called him back.  Given that we were unable to then the assumption is that we had no right to do so

Hindsight is yes

the Chelsea one  - is true on the whole - but i was thinking of the Nathan Ake  example - where he was going great guns in the Bournemouth first team  - then called back for cover - he is on the fringes of the Chelsea first team - they had no problem with his return

We can go on about it being a stupid deal re recall clause and legal set up of it or lack but the truth is Derby/Pearson wanted Martin / out permanently and the Fulham deal with fixed price to buy was the best they could get at the time , they had set a course with Pearson as manager and backed his judgement fully ,,, blame them for appointing the wrong man for them in Pearson by all means if blame is needed , it's obvious Pearson wanted Martin out full time , mel wanted to back his manager fully and Fulham would only take him on the deal agreed

Went off to a standing ovation according to some reports ,depending on the final league table could go tits up for us yet.

Picture the scene. Last game of the season, Fulham need a win to sneak into the play offs at the expense of a resurgent derby. Fulham awarded a penalty in the last minute for the win. Up steps martin. What does he do?

Is CM eligible to play against Dcfc this season?

Hopefully remain professional and do his best to bury it in the back of the net.

The rest is up to external influences.

Probably be asked to leave the field of play as he's not eligible to be part of Fulham's matchday squad.

Seeing as we're not playing Fulham on the last day the hypothetical stands.

Although, how would CM know if his pen might affect the picture with a different result also having an effect.

Still wouldn't be eligible but fine;

He'd hit the post, only he'd know if he missed on purpose, but deep down we'd all know... 'Cause Martin is a ram :lol:
