eddie
That was fun. The Memsahib and I just watched the game in Noordwijk in a pub full of Ajax fans. It was bedlam in the end.

Topram
What a job Conte has done, all this about its Peps first season blah blah Conte is the real deal started poorly worked out what needed to be done! Pep only managed winning sides
Pearl Ram
Indeed, now all he's got to do is turn himself into a miserable self indulgent tw@t and SSN will give him all the air time he wants. Hopefully he'll remain as he is and Mourinho can have it all to himself.

Pep only managed winning sides Pep took over Barca when they finished 3rd, 18 points behind Real Madrid. It's a myth he took over a winning side in Barcelona, as he didn't. Conte took over a side who won the PL only 15 month prior to his arrival. He has done a fantastic job, but let's not make out he's performed a miracle. He took over a bunch of champions and made them champions again. Next season will be a much bigger test for him with Chelsea having to balance CL football. He's pretty much used the same XI throughout the season, whereas next year he won't be afforded that luxury with CL football inbetween and the extra travel and game preparation. I think Man City have a great chance of winning it next season if Pep makes the right signings. Chelsea will have more games to play, Arsenal no longer challenge, Spurs IMO will struggle at Wembley, Liverpool are too leaky and will struggle to balance CL football and Man Utd seriously lack the quality. If you are using the season before the last one to judge Conte at Chelsea, wouldn't it be also fair to do the same for Pep at Barcelona? That season Barcelona finished 2nd on head to head record (would have won it if it went on GD).

Chelsea won the PL at a canter in 2014/15, with many suggesting they would go the entire season unbeaten around November time. They won it with four games to go. Barca finished on 76 points that season. Chelsea won the PL with 87, Since Barca last won the league before Pep arrived, the only survivng players with Puyol, Xavi, Eto'o, Iniesta and Messi, with the latter two squad players back in 2006. Conte's current Chelsea side features all the same players who won it in 2014/15 bar Petr Cech.
