Can you imagine if he was President and Corbyn was Prime Minister

Can't image any prime minster being comfortable with that arrangement. Even many of the small right wing party leaders. We have further left people than Corbyn as well, but I suppose he is the furthest left of any of the likely winners.

It's about as likely that Trump will become president as Nick Griffin to have become prime minster a few years back.

I saw a Guardian headline on twitter that highlights the real issue though:

It just gets better...and what the **** does he think he has anything to do with London, with the 'we'.

Trump: 'Places in London police are afraid for their lives'

US presidential hopeful Donald Trump has said there are places in London "so radicalised the police are afraid for their own lives."

Mr Trump, who is seeking the Republican nomination for next year's presidential election, made the comments on MSNBC.

Speaking to MSNBC he said: "We have places in London...that are so radicialised that the police are afraid for their own lives"

My wife holds the theory that the Republicans have encouraged Trump in order to make the other cranks seeking election appear reasonable.

Can't say I buy that, no idea what effect his latest comments will have on the polls (presume this might be a step too far) but he has been a massive problem for the Republican establishment. I read more American news/listen to radio than I do UK equivalents and all I've heard is panic about what to do about Trump and his poll success. I think Trump is a bigoted narcissist but he is NOT an establishment politician and that has been his major appeal so far.

This political sphere we're seeing developing in the States and Europe is consistent in my view with a gradual downturn in living standards over the past decade which will continue. When people feel poorer they start pointing fingers. Wars usually follow.

There's a pattern emerging here, Trump makes a speech, the liberal press condemn it, then 2 weeks later it becomes policy for all the Republican candidates.

I hope Obama hides that big button well, Trump would probably press it hoping to summon his Butler!

I'd argue it's professional ostriches like Jones who polarise issues and drive people towards Trump.

He has said he'd get on quite well with Putin. I think I find that thought terrifying. But at least it would finally break our 'special relationship' and we can cut america out of our lives altogether.

Something he also said on the Muslim issue is that 25% of Muslims dislike Americans. He goes in to say that 1% would be too much. What he doesn't go on to say is that it's likely 25%+ of all non-Americans dislike Americans.
