angieram
Recommend approval; councillors approve; building work commences. Council officer time minimal. Recommend rejection; councillors reject; we appeal; reports prepared; another rejection; we appeal again and it goes to judicial review; more reports prepared and trips to London. Two years later we get approval . 10 council officers guarantee their jobs for another two years.

Those who rejected the proposals should declare who they are and then they should be voted out, with DCFC Fan candidates standing against them to unite the community if necessary. For everyone in the local area it's got to be far better to have the academy than the inevitable further expansion of housing. I don't recall the detail of the proposals now, but if the indoor area can be appropriately camouflaged to blend in (ie wood cladding or some such) then surely that would do the trick? Jordy
Pretty unusual for councillors to reject the officer's advice. Good on the planning committee - presumably some lobbying by Derby County these past few weeks?

Wolfie20
The fact that Richard Keogh was present at the meeting shows the high esteem in which he is held within the club! Keogh!!! Keogh!!! Keogh!!!

RadioactiveWaste
That and I also presume the club said it would create many thousands of jobs and make the council more powerful than the Earl of Warwick and Sherrife of Nottingham combined. Carl Sagan
Rejoice at that news! Great stuff and I'm glad any of you who are local don't now have to stand to dethrone the incumbent councillors! If only there was some way you could influence the decisions made by government, maybe by donating to their party funds, perhaps?
