Mihangel
Not seen much discussion on the new expansion plans for the academy - Anyone know much about it? Looked at the documents on Erewash planning site and looks like significant development, is there a local reaction?

Looked at the documents on Erewash planning site and looks like significant development, is there a local reaction?I used to work for the Private Building Control Body who did a few of the jobs for Moor Farm, beautiful set up. Expanding it still? its already state of the art. Some Locals will be disgruntled at it and some wont, haven't seen the drawings so i assume if it is being built in closer proximity to the houses then there will be a few issues with the locals but living there you must appreciate that it is an expanding business
Gary Teale
I don't know the plans but when my lad is there it has been mentioned in chatting that they want to expand it further and build a new indoor full size pitch, (as the current one is a tiny), they also want to add more changing rooms etc so they have a first team and academy area, also it was mentioned the academy lads would use one area for training days and a different one when they have games so there is more of a match day experience. Mihangel
Plans are available here, it's a huge plan, I just hope the locals are for it. http://www.erewash.gov.uk/planning-building-control/search-planning-applications/weekly-planning-list.html
Ram@Lincoln
Wow, I didn't realise that they wanted to double the size of the place. Thought they only wanted to add a pitch or two. Definitely a huge optimistic plan, but if we're going to be growing the club to be self sufficient from the academy, this needs to be done. Carl Sagan
Makes sense in the light of transfer fee inflation. If you can have one academy player coming through each year it will save many millions. Hope the local community buys into it.
Briggsy
Never understood why the locals would argue against it. Surely its better than a bunch of new houses which would probably have been there instead.
Lord_Ram
already cat 1 with excellent facilities, and now looking to double the size of the place!!!so nice to have a sugardaddy that knows how to run a football club
RamLad1884
Business wise makes sense too, bigger training ground= more facilities= more potential for space to be leased out to external sports groups (in the same way st. georges Park works near burton)
sage
To me some of those proposals look like stuff they have already done over the summer.

RadioactiveWaste
Am I right in thinking the cat 1 status was conditional on the expansion, but granted because the plans were in place?

Bearing in mind that a successful club creates jobs and improves the economy surely it's something this is definitely going to get pushed through! Rampage
I think that I heard that the Academy is right on the boundary between two council areas. The people living across the road did not want floodlights at the Academy but the floodlights are not in their Council Area, I think that I heard that but it may not be correct. Can anyone throw any light on this matter?

Ramism
Makes me laugh when people who live in an area like moor farm moan about planning applications. I mean they all live in houses that were fields where i walked my dog, not that many years ago.
