Srg
For all of Mascarells invention and attacking play, I still think we seem to lack the defensive presence that both Eustace and Thorne give us. There's no doubting he can ping a 'worldy' across the pitch, but I dont think he's as good at dropping in as in additional centre half when we need one. So he will help you score several goals and maybe stop one or two. Eustace will do neither.
Mafiabob
So he will help you score several goals and maybe stop one or two. Eustace will do neither. Wasn't we top scorers in the league last season with Eustace playing the majority of said season?
Curtains
Wasn't we top scorers in the league last season with Eustace playing the majority of said season?Hes not getting any younger time caught up with Paul Scholes. Just an analogy but it's true that's why Thorne and Mascarell were signed. We only really started to do well when Thorne came in. NC didn't always go with Eustace and he signed him. I was referring to the point Eustace does neither.... Agree time does catch up. Think my point was valid though
BondJovi
I think now that teams know what to expect from us, it is all the more important that we have someone who can pick out those key passes.

Ambitious
Proof the Russell goal wasn't offside: The initial pass in the replay looks as if he is offside, but that's because the defender isn't in frame. "http://i62.tinypic.com/2vm61xu" alt="2vm61xu"> He looks it in the replay, but when the ball is played the defender, number 17, isn't in the frame... However, thanks to my excellent reactions I was able to see him as soon as he looks in frame. "http://i60.tinypic.com/f02lib" alt="f02lib"> He looks in line and you have to remember he was moving forward at the time. I would say that's fairly conclusive, and supports Powell's comments. Ambitious
The first goal, although looks to be a complete mess, is actually mostly Shotton's fault. Without screenshotting again; he tracks the man that makes the assist when Keogh wins the initial header but drops off him, allowing him [their playmaker] the space to make the assist. He was caught in no man's land, running around in circles. Keogh, idiotically, blocks Butland's view though. As for the corner: Hendrick losses sight of his marker and tunnel vision gets the better of him. He drives for the header, misses it and his marker, player behind him, makes a clean well-taken header. Naive, but didn't cost us a result. Eustace doesn't help score goals and he doesn't help defensively? Hmm. I beg to differ.

To further illustrate your point, lets go to the gopro camera You can see the defender in question next to Hughes, they got tangled after a tackle "http://i.gyazo.com/d2df4f5dee5676936df9358e75507b6a" alt="d2df4f5dee5676936df9358e75507b6a">

Rev
Hughes played 1 really poor pass last night while not under any pressure at all, this is the second or third time he's done this since Mac took charge, needs to up his game.
Scott129
So martin wasnt offside for our second. He was played on by the guy getting up after challenging Hughes Yeah, Jack Robinson. You could tell by his reaction as well. Whilst the rest of their team were raising their hands and shouting at the lino, he was practically on the floor with his head in his hands. Absolutely said it all.

Not many managers admit they were wrong.
