Regardless of what position he ends up playing in the team, it's always exciting to get a player in from a big European club. To be fair, they don't come much bigger than Real!

We've made some decent young signings this close season with 2 coming from the 2 of the top 3 teams in Spain last season, one from Atletico, one from Real.......who are we getting from Barca? ;)

Ok. Never seen him play, so not my opinions. But what I was told he is something like this:

- too good for Championship.

- not excatly DM, but could do well there too

- terrific first touch.

- looks always for pass first, rarely shoots

- gives a lot if freekicks to opponent and tackles way too late

- "if I was Derby supporter, I would get excited"

And my own opinion? just check the post above this ****.

Summary:

- Told he had to sign a new contract before he could go. This because Ancelotti impressed with him in pre-season.

- Defensive midfielder. On our radar straight after the injury to Thorne.

- Both the player and Real expect him to play. "Don't expect him to spend much time on the bench."

Exciting times!

Funny how this deal, aside from the length, is almost identical to Thorne's loan.
