Well anyone on here who knows me will know it was never, ever meant to be a hurtful comment, especislly when I lost my brother to the same bloody disease when he was 30.

All I meant was it reduces me almost to tears - no, in fact it has done - when I hear him talk about it on the radio. I always get choked with emotion.

So once again, I apologise if anyone thought I was being tactless or thoughtless. I'd never dream of it.

:-(

Even if someone had read it that way, they would have still known what you meant, it was not nice of them to make a cheap comment about it if that is what they were doing. Nothing for you to apologise about.

No apology needed, it was obvious what it was and wasn't malicious in any way, just raised an eyebrow and a faint smile my end, that's all. Don't worry about it.

I don't think anyone could be offended by your comment. It read it as you meant it duck.

Gutted for Colin, wish him well, and will join in the applause if it goes ahead.

At the risk of being publicly eviscerated though, I feel I have to say that there must be a person in Ramland in his position at every age from 1 to 90 - except we've heard of Colin so we do this. Where do we stop, and what about everyone else? My mate who I'll be travelling with has a lovely wife who is too sick to complete her chemo course at the moment. A round for her too some way through the second half?

Instead, what about getting the buckets out at PPS for the RoadRider send off and so on, and seeing if we can't raise a few bob for cancer charities on his behalf?

Good point, got me thinking.

But I like bobby bobby's suggestion. Yes 31 minutes is specifically for Bloomers, but the applause is for any and all people you care about, with any issues. It's like the football fans version of a prayer, in footballs version of St. Paul's cathedral.

Would be something nice to see.

As long as none if the team do anything tactless like score on 31:30 and ruin the moment.

Just to say, I read it exactly how you meant it, no apology needed.

I saw what you wrote and knew exactly what you meant, anyone who saw it as anything else than you expressing that it upset you with a figure of speech used all the time needs to have a word with themselves! This is no thread to be looking for/highlighting unintended puns in!

Rest assured, no one thought that Ladyram.

I'd not heard of the fellow until this thread. Sadly, while 31 is far too young to be in a fight for your life, cancer knows no age barriers. As you sadly know.

I hope he feels the live and support the Derby community is sending his way and that he draws strength from it.

And I hope he wins his fight.

Sing his name.

Don't clap him. He ain't dead. Clapping is like applauding a memory or contribution. Like 'well done'

He's not finished. If he's willing to fight and hope for a miracle then I'd rather sing his name in support rather than clapping like he's a memory.

He's not dead. Miracles happen and him, his family and many others are fighting on.

Clapping is so... final.

Deffo mate.

In a year where we've applauded memories of people dying I don't think Bloomfield would like to have the same tribute. 2 weeks after we applauded the 56?!?

Now sing that around the ground and it sounds like support. Which is what anyone wants when they're in a fight
