That's my take - all he really cared about was immediate (or near immediate) promotion, then worry about the long term once we were in the championship. (Maybe at that point selling the club to a richer, more ambitious owner.) Not necessarily the route I'd have preferred, but fine as far as it goes.
It does all depend on us actually getting promotion, though

I guess Clowes didn't want a project? Water under the bridge an all, but I still don't get how there seems to have been no consideration to the type of football we'd see under Warne.

Wish Rosenoir was still here, good manager.

Yes but is Rosenior funnier than Warne?
I suggest you rethink your priorities.

It's quite an unpleasant forum on here sometimes isn't it.
The blokes doing his job,has some time off for unknown reasons and gets personally slagged off by fellow derby supporters whilst he does so.

Respect how our hatred of Forest extends so far that we're still finding new ways of taking the piss, even when they're playing treble-winning City the same weekend we're away at Carlisle.

Similar. A regression from Lincoln but an improvement from some of the earlier games. We looked okay for 20 minutes then after we scored we couldn't string more than two passes together. That said there were positives in Collins, Nyambe, and the defence looking solid as a whole. I feel Nyambe in particular is going to offer us a lot, he's the perfect player to be playing behind NML with how solid he is defensively.
Edit - Nelson stood out too.

We can do what we want as supporters but if you are served up with rubbish on the pitch the atmosphere will always be flat
you mention those down the road but the main reason they have a good atmosphere at the minute is they are doing well not because they do things to improve the atmosphere

alram reacted to Cam the Ram in So turns out Warne is a Football genius .
Warne seeing our next opponents have scored 7 goals in 8 league games this season:
5 AT THE BACK, 3 CENTRE MIDS, SIT BACK, SOAK UP THEIR PRESSURE AND COUNTER ATTACK!

alram reacted to Sweetness34 in Can anyone actually name a single improvement Warne has done since arriving?
This topic makes me sad because I've just sat and thought really hard about it and there isn't a single thing.
That's not me over reacting, without agenda, the reality has just sunk in that absolutely 100% of the footballing side of our club is worse than it was.
I was bored at the match on Saturday. And barely felt the excitement of a 85th minute penalty because deep down I knew there was a chance that our players would be tired enough to give them a few chances. I still think it was a point stolen rather than 2 lost given how bad we were.
Pride Park is dead. That's not because the fans have just suddenly turned rubbish, it's because like me, once optimistic people are just expecting nothing.
It's the worst it's ever been. I'll never not go, but it's hard to get enthused and last week for the first time ever, it felt nice to have a weekend without Derby County being at the forefront of my Saturday.
I think I'm depressed by how bad it is. I was more optimistic when we were on the verge of going bust.
And to end on a slightly more positive note, I still think this squad is good and should be a top two team, we just have a manager making them look dreadful and it'll only get worse.

I admit that I was fully behind PW's appointment, especially on the back of 3 promotions from League One with that small club from South Yorkshire, but I'm now firmly in the 'we need to see something soon or things have to change' camp.
I realise we are still under some transfer restrictions, being those of the EFL, or those applied by David Clowes in trying to run the club sustainably, but as has been said many times by others, PW has been in charge for 50 odd games now, he has assessed our squad, brought in a lot of his own players, and still there appear little signs of improvement. It can certainly be argued we've gone backwards.
My biggest worry now is if we keep PW for another couple of transfer windows - potentially with less restrictions, might we have an even bigger rebuild if the axe were to fall on his reign?
Or do we get somebody else in before the next transfer window, somebody who is more adept at working with the players available and willing to play to the players' strengths, rather than trying to shoehorn players into unfamiliar roles in an unfamiliar playing system. I honestly think there is a decent amount of talent at the club, certainly enough, with the right manager, to be challenging for the top 6.
I'm happy to give PW until the end of October, but I'm hoping that unless there is a significant improvement, DC is putting together a plan B.

just so people know we have to go back 6 games to get as many shots on target as that

What a fantastic post couldn’t agree more especially the bit about quality of player signing
for me there was a significant shift this summer to championship quality player on their way down to league one player on their way down, the quality of players we brought in this summer are nowhere near good enough if we want promotion especially considering who we lost
felt like I was the only one saying this in summer when we were signing some very poor league one players, the signings we made we’re that of an established league one club not one that plans to be a championship club

justifying warne's mediocrity by saying LR was also mediocre is nonsense in my opinion
at least LR gave us a vision and something that resembled a plan of action. he may have failed too but we are going nowhere under warne and will need a few transfer windows to clean up his mess.

Rosenior’s last game in charge:
Yes, it was excruciating watching Derby dominate the ball and pepper the opposition goal with shots.
Give me long, rushed chaotic forward passes, 40% possession and one shot on target over that rubbish.
