That is what concerns me about L1.  It is not the same "type" of football, and those who think we'll walk it are deluding themselves.

teams have come out to attack us and win for over a year now, it will be a big change in what we face. There will be lots of buses parked and teams playing for a point. And there will be lots of teams that outwork us due to our squad profile. It will be difficult, if we get off to a good start I will be over the moon

we almost certainly dodged a nuke

But how are the regulators supposed to know

    - that he might be diddling his investors

    - that he’s in cahoots with uncle Paul (whose finger was on the nuclear button)

The signs were there for all of us to see  - he’s supposed to be full time CEO of a fast growing company and yet he spends half his time schmoozing golfers and doing wheelies around Dubai in his jet. Oh and his area of ‘expertise’ is sales   It’s as harsh to blame the regulators as it is to blame the fans

He pulled a fast one with a worldwide investment bank, it’s easy to blame the football authorities but at the end of the day nobody spotted it who had contact with him, must have been an incredible blagger

all his tweets make me want to vomit

  3. People don’t want expensive players on big wages that are injury prone it is as simple as that so well run clubs won’t touch him.

so you only get clubs like Birmingham or us of old that will touch them.

whatever Birmingham are covering wages wise we are losing a lot of money on him because we are still paying for him, a big problem for us going forward - we need to hope he does well so we can sell

I'd say that if they're limiting us to £8m wage budget for players over 21 when we're looking at c. 25k average gates, with no transfer fees or hidden bonuses, we're on pretty safe ground.

If it is the case I would assume the £8m isn’t just the wage budget however but the entire playing budget for wages and transfers

The EFL have to approve every single contract. That was made clear when signings were announced "subject to EFL approval".

i know and i understand that, i would just like to know the details of plan and whether they actually are protecting the club

Most Leicester fans I have met have always been pretty sound TBH.  Often chat to one or two on the train from Long Eaton to see the Tigers (my wife and daughters passion more than the Lad’s or mine).  The Derby scarves and hats he and I weargive it away usually!

There will always be the ignorant few of course…

it would be great to draw them or Forest in one of the cups one thinks though…

you must not work with any then!

What is the point of throwing everything just to stay in the PL? All it means is that you get the chance to throw another lot of money the season after. The PL largesse is exaggerated, Forest have just ensured £10m of the purported £170m goes to Lingard.

Promoted sides can spend £100m & still take hammerings (Fulham, Villa). Established sides can spend hundreds of millions (Everton) & then be involved in a relegation battle.

Like you, and others, I care about the long-term future of Derby after what happened, hence why I understood your reservations (Hourihane). But you're contradicting yourself when you say Forest are having a go, but then imply they are gambling their way to oblivion. There are different ways of approaching the PL (Brentford), Forest are buying into the notion that you simply have to chuck money at it.

We have an owner who just posted that he doesn't want fans to get in debt over their season tickets. 'That it is not worth getting in debt over'. I've rarely heard anyone in a (club) boardroom capacity talk in such a responsible manner.

oh come on asanovic you are being ridiclous. you are completely right the correct way to get to the premier league is the brentford approach but they cant just turn around and say we are going to be brentford now you have to build it over years. the only option they have is to throw money at it if they are going to compete

the reality is there is more financial risk in the championship as we have seen, when was the last time a prem club went out of business

Behave, you were getting apoplectic when you heard we were going to sign Hourihane! OK, that's because of what previously happened (understandable), but Forest, if they buy Dennis, could take their spending into nine figures. I think the best way to get promoted out of the Championship - without incurring massive debt - is to build over a few seasons, sell a  player, re-invest, Swansea & Brentford as examples.

Forest are certainly going for it, alright. Going to be broke. Boom & bust, that's modern football. After what happened to us, they're welcome to it.

it is the best way to get promoted, but if you get promoted with a crap squad you are better off trying to stay there than lying down and taking it. look at how much we and even they spent over the years trying to get in the prem. they managed to fluke a promotion are are throwing everything at trying to stay there.

and i get frustrated about the hourihane business because i care about the long term future of the club, i dont give a toss if forest gamble their way to oblivion

That isn't true, he is very much a football man, and when push came to shove called out the EFL for their behaviour. He may have got Kirchner wrong but then so did lots of others.

he didnt give a toss, he was pally with stretford who was going to give him all insider details

he is not a football man, cant believe anybody would suggest he is. he is in it for himself, thats why he works for the sun, thats why he makes idiots pay for a patreon page to listen to his rubbish.

it is baffling that anybody holds him in a favourable opinion, he is the lowest of the low as a journalist.

Oddly, I do think that keeping him for this season is a distinct possibility.

Our wage bill without him would possibly be £8m a year and with him £9m a year.

In the great business plan, as ridiculous as it sounds, having him in our team, in the absence of anyone else wanting to risk signing him, could actually make business sense.

If he stays fit - and that's a huge if - with our other signings, we could easily be very likely to get back to the Championship at the first attempt.

In terms of a c. £60m investment by David Clowes, getting promoted at the first attempt the extra £1m could be viewed as a potentially sound investment.

The likelihood of it happening is slim, but if nobody else comes in for him, it's not as ridiculous as it sounds.

it doesn’t make business sense to keep him but we have little choice.

He is more likely to stay because of nothing apart from nobody else will be willing to take a punt on him. high wages and poor injury record just means teams won’t risk it

but from a football pov that’s good news.

Nixon claimed to have seen the funds, the reality is probably different, why would Kirchner show a red top journalist the funds, no benefit in it.  Nixon has regularly been economical with the truth and tries to look more in the know than he actually is, Nixon assured us all that there was nothing to worry about, he called out all of the critics that saw what was coming.

Nixon has gone awfully quite regarding Derby as he knows he's been made to look a complete tool by Kirchner.

He made himself look like a tool

he was sacked from somewhere because of a conflict of interest with Stratford before , Nixon was in it for self interest once again. he is a grade A t***** that had no concern or bother about derby or our fans.

I will never forget when we were at our lowest point and everything was crumbling around us, he was the lone voice calling us idiots and clowns for us worrying. Everything was gonna be fine he said whilst every other journalist reported collapse.

    NEVER FORGET

New signings do seem to have dried up a bit. I can't see us getting anyone else is now.

I'm saying that hoping we announce 2 today ?

the ones we got done were the easy ones. I am worried about squad depth, there is lots of games to play in this division when you throw in the papa johns where you have to play first team players.

and I have harped on about the age of the signings but it does make a difference having younger fitter players over a season

It does make you wonder why CK did, what he did, his Derby bid and the events at his company must have surely irrevocably damaged his business reputation.

can you imagine if he had took us over

it would have been like those guys that took over notts county and brought sven in.

and the only thing that was stopping the deal was the cash not being delivered, imagine if he had managed to find a way to transfer it.

    its not worth thinking about.

I’d think WR is not focused on his salary at DC at all, but that he is focused on finding a long term career as a manager, not least because punditry is not his thing. If he’s out of work for a while there’s no guarantee he’ll get back in the flow. Popular opinion says he did a great job at Derby. Not at all clear the football establishment shares that view

rooney did a good job at making us feel better (MAybe thats what football is about anyway?)

but the fact of the matter is he didnt achieve his targets but got us close. a lot of people say it was a difficult job but there was so little pressure surrounding it that every game was a free hit and every run of form looked like a miracle happening.

    Where did you read that?

That’s because the Guardian’s Jacob Steinberg, as well as The Times, have reported that Lingard agreed terms with Forest to the tune of almost £200,000-a-week.

It’s explained that West Ham were feeling confident about a reunion with Lingard and that despite being reluctant to meet the player’s preference for a £180,000-a-week deal, believed that a wage of £150,000-a-week would be enough to tempt him

sorry the telegraph not the times
