Forest spending £60m already on just four players is crazy.
The gap between them and say Southampton in squad quality is massive, let alone between them and the likes of City and Liverpool.
It’s been close for a while. But this is the year all three promoted clubs go down, and probably replaces the three clubs who were in the PL in either of the last two seasons (basically three of Norwich, Watford, Burnley and West Brom).
it will go one of two ways for them, they will flop or thrive but they are spending it on younger players and they are being ambitious which is more than what can be said for those other clubs you mentioned. that can of course bite you on the bum if you buy a load of duds.
but there is no chance they can just throw a bunch of players together and expect them to work like they did last season . bournemouth will go down they just seem to be signing free transfers which is more crazy. fulham have a squad of players that have been relegated 3 times.

He also said many times that he would like to stay at derby if it was possible (pre takeover). Hopefully he signs - fozzy too.
he did and I’m sure he would be happy to stay but he is probably waiting for a championship offer

Supprising that this hasn't been sorted out yet. I thought Curtis would have been one of the first to be sorted. Wonder what the actual issue is.
probably him.
he stated himself he would like to play in the championship, but championship clubs are probably not going to take on a 37 year old.
so thankfully we remain his only option.

the reality is there won’t be many takers, a quality player but has ongoing injury concerns and won’t be on peanuts.

Ah so it was our fault MM overspent then and we went into administration?, right gotcha.
no but there wasn't enough voices raising questions especially in the media. the alarm bells should have been rining when we didnt submit the accounts, if it happens again we should know something is going on behind the scenes and make a big issue of it.

You do know we are still under a strict business plan don't you?, so how can we offer more money than Boro???.
Have a day off will ya.
so i keep hearing, but lets see the details. the reality is nobody knows what they are, it might not be as "STRICT" as made out
it would be a first for the efl to act in our interests

We clearly are working to an agreed plan (aren’t all transfers subject to EFL consent?). Maybe Boro just didn’t offer enough but I agree with others posters and reasons he may prefer Derby is because of location and likely playing time. I really think you’re worrying unnecessary and looking for issues that aren’t there. If you’re looking for clarity on how much Derby and Boro offered then I’m afraid you’re going to be disappointed.
just want to ask the question tamworth.
think we have to going forward as supporters. we turned a blind eye too long which led to the position we got in.
it might seem moany but we cant repeat the same mistakes.

Surely we are working to an agreed financial plan agreed with the EFL.
i certainly hope so.
everytime i suggest something i get shouted down. i just want clarity, because if we genuinely have offered more money than boro then questions need to be asked.

where is the official confirmation that we cant pay fees for players?
at the end of the day nobody knows what our embargo will look like
im not sure i believe that we can offer players huge wages but cant pay fees, that makes zero sense

What about players who aren’t “elite” but have played 60 ish games at Premier League level, over 290 at championship level, over 30 internationals, experienced promotions in their career and are now willing to step down a league to bring that experience and quality to the Derby County rebuild….like James Chester perhaps?
the exact same would have been posted about numerous players we have signed in the past 5 years that have turned out to be absolute horse radish.
doing the same thing over and over again in a sign of insanity

So Curtis, Jags, Fozzy, CKR who all held their own last year ?
Sorry mate it isn’t about old V young it’s as @Rammy03said: Balance .. the right amount of youthful energy and endeavour mixed with the steel and wiles of experience.
i am not disputing that
but you cant build an entire team of them
lets see what transfers we bring it, i would just like to see some younger up and coming players linked rather than those on the decline

So are you now contradicting yourself and saying that elite level players can still run and graft when they are "Old", but non-elite level players cant?
no, elite level players can find ways around it with their superior skill and experience. we are talking a group of players that have won 5 champions leagues here not james chester

i cant believe people are suggesting make or break
the kid is 20 years old, players hardly have first team appearences under their belt until past this age and hes played over 60 games.
sibley has plenty of time on his side to be around our squad for years yet before we can even realise his potential.
we should take the opportunity whilst his stock is quite low to give him a new long term deal, we have to start protecting our assets

I'm glad derby haven't walked away from this.
So legal action against bregen, with full support of the efl.
wouldnt we have to submit a claim with fifa? have we resolved the issue with jozwiak? i am not sure they will entertain us until thats sorted.
-
oh good another court case i am sure the efl are delighted

Well we currently don’t have enough for a kick about and he hasn’t actually said he wants to move on whilst being correct about considering his options.
thats true!
it is still not a great though. either committ or move on.

if he has no interest in signing a new deal then he should be told that he cant report for training. why are we letting players get fit at our expense and effort.

Just out of interest, I'd this team 'old' or not?
Wildsmith (26)
Byrne (30) Davies (37) Cashin (21) Forsyth (33)
Bird (21) LThompson (20)
Barkhuizen (28) Hourihane (31) Mendez-Laing (30)
McGoldrick (34)
Wycombe started 40 if their 46 games with older squads and still reached the Playoff Final. Sheff Weds also named a lot of old match day squads yet finished 4th.
Crewe, Wimbledon and Doncaster used the 3 youngest squads in the league... and all finished in the bottom 3. Fleetwood with another young squad finished just 19th.
I dont understand why you can't see we're building a balanced squad.
if we are building a balanced squad i will end up zipping it.
but we are being linked to nobody that is on the up as a footballer. that is my issue here.

You keep making this point Alram but what you’re saying is contradictory, young players are not a guarantee of matching the physicality and graft you say we can expect in league one.
Barkhuizen and Mendez-Laing both offer physicality and pace (definitely NML) in the wide positions. They are 28 and 30 years old respectively, they are adults who have fully developed physically at their ages and are experienced pros at the level above where we now find ourselves having both played over 300 games each as professionals. They’re not 63 year old pensioners with glass bones, nor are they 19/20 year olds like Sibley/Bird/Ebiowei who to me, despite their obvious footballing ability, have been found at times to be quite lightweight as they still have growing to do.Wildsmith is a 26 year old goalkeeper. Cashin and Thommo are youngsters who have extended. Of those the club has announced so far who is it that you have massive concerns about and based on what facts?
i am not saying kids caerphilly. i am saying players approaching their prime, lots of clubs are clocking on that old players arent worth the investment.
i just dont want us to repeat the same mistakes which looks like we are doing with the signings linked/signed so far.
