  1. I just dont think you can expect any more than being out of the relegation battle

staying up will be a success

staying out of the scrap will be a good season

anything else will be a bonus, lets temper our expectations and be realistic. there is a big jump between league one and the championship and we werent that convincing this season despite being able to grind out results. the worry at the moment is our managers track record at this level.

  2. Leicester will have a points deduction & will have to sell to avoid another one for two in one season. Ipswich will probably try to survive on momentum which could work but hasn’t been successful in recent years. I think Southampton are the best equipped to give it a go. I wouldnt be surprised if the 3 up go down again, I think the gap is getting bigger every year.

I agree above I think Forest and Brentford could struggle, when you look at their recruitment they seem incapable of improving on their current squad which is the same one that was in the championship

  3. you know how they say there has been a small increase in correct decisions does anyone actually believe it? because you watch the exact same decisions given for one team and not given a week later and howard webb comes out and say both are correct decisions.

i think its a load of rubbish to justify the var. my biggest issue is the referee has lost all authority and it is not right that some faceless overlord overrules him when he feels like it from nowhere near the ground. i think its wrong.

I also find this new fascination with 22-28 year olds a bit strange.

is never going to be as simple as we won’t sign anyone outside that age bracket. Of course everyone wants young players that will improve and have huge sell on value. So does every other club in the league.

Just want to see what side we put together to start the season, will have a budget from clowes and let’s see where we get. Loans will be a big part of that, as will experienced players, and hopefully we get some players that improve in value too.

think we all need to stop being accountants at some point and just trust that the club will be well ran

Because it’s how you progress as a club now, the modern game is about athleticism and intensity and you pay for recruitment with player trading unless you’ve got a sugar daddy.

look at the top 6 in the championship, they all play a similar style and recruit in that age bracket. Now look at the bottom 3 and they are the polar opposite.

I have zero interest in us signing 30 year olds on frees because it’s obvious what will happen. It should only be done as a worst case scenario, certainly not at the start of the summer.

A couple of Toton Reds fans I know would take 17th every season, seems a bit of a tragic existence (supporter wise) actively desiring your team lose in the cups at the first available opportunity in order to concentrate on the league, all whilst scraping your way to be 4th in the most Shhh...ockingly bad teams list.

Next season they'll be hoping Ipswich have gone too far too soon, and ironically Leicester get some deductions. They'll be begging Leeds to not win (agree there to be honest), as the other Premier teams have developed (see the points gap to 5th bottom) and unless there is something under the radar none seem so 'basketcasey' and likely to implode at any minute either.

Marinakis may have created a footballing Damocles, exposed to riches and glory, but with relegation and financial armageddon (apparently relegation clauses aren't a thing) hanging above their heads held away by the thinnest MGW shaped strand.

In the first couple of years in the prem survival is the only thing that matters, once you get into year 3 you get full benefits of a permanent financial advantage of teams in the championship & every promoted team going forward.

I don’t blame Forest for throwing money at it it just shows the lunacy of the elitist financial system in football. At the end of the day it’s worked for them

  6. I think thats crazy, he was doing a good job there and is a good coach. He must feel incredibly hard done by, thats 2 harsh sackings hes had already. im sure someone will take him.

If our budget is 900k then we may as well look forward to league 1 again.

There's no way he'll only be given under a mill. We just wouldn't compete, he's already said that.

Exactly, we are not going to compete if a player worth 900k is out of our budget.

So you'd spend nearly £1m on a goalkeeper who conceded 85 goals in the Championship, but wouldn't spend anything on the guy who changed the course of our season?

Stop trolling us youth, we ain't buying it 😉

Well it depends what our budget is

i want to avoid paying money for older players because 2-3 years down the line they are worthless and will leave for nothing. I would rather spent 900k now on a guy we could get 5+ years out of than 500k on a guy that gives us 2 years tops.

If you sign a player for 900k on a 5 year deal or a 500k player on a 2 year deal it costs the same amount of money per season for the club. Nobody pays transfer fees upfront anymore

Rudoni and Wiles at Huddersfield worth a look Brannigan and Goodrham at Oxford

    Burrows Peterboro

    Phillips Barnsley

    Olaofe Stockport

    Sotiriu L.Orient

Like to see a proper number 10 brought in in the messi mould maybe we can unearth one in the foreign leagues we are scouting

can you work at the clubs recruitment department?

exactly the sort of players we should be targeting, under 25 year olds from the lower leagues with 35-40+ games played every season. its the only way we will be able to build a proper squad if the budget is allegedly as tight as people are making out.

  10. i think this would be a no brainer, despite the amount of goals he has conceded he is a very good goalkeeper and at any age where he could be here for years.

lets be honest if a player avaliable for 900k is "far too expensive" then its gonna be a difficult season, since when have we been so skint. this squad will need upgrading, you arent gonna do it for peanuts. we will be competing against teams that have 10m+ players

I have mixed feelings on Warne. He's done well to get us up but let's be honest we were favourites and had in-built advantages. The championship will be a whole different monster and while Warne does have a track record in league 1 he doesn't really have one in the championship. We do need to temper our expectations i think. There's little chance of a tilt at the play offs and survival is the big priority. That might be difficult to take at first...

I think the big issue is recruitment. We were a big pull in league 1 but in the championship we are less so and the squad needs significant additions. Who knows if Warne is the man but we should back him until otherwise.

think we will learn a lot next season not only about warne but the ownership.

how much money is clowes willing to put in? a championship owner is going to have to underwrite big losses every year and thats before squad investment. will our recruitment strategy shift to more long term? can warne actually compete at championship level?

i think if we have a boring season its been a success

Cooper got you up and kept you up, despite the crazy amount of players and spending.

Enjoy it whilst you can, the mid-term future looks bleak, if not the short-term. Your financial situation is already looking perilious, that would be the case even if you weren't ran by a gangster.

Hopefully you find a way to be ran sustainably, with a non-criminal in charge and both clubs can battle it out in the future, ideally in the Premier League. I just despair of the willfull ignorance of football supporters to not ask questions.

i dont know the full details but hasnt he been cleared of every legal battle hes been involved in?

i spent 5 years working in albania in the 90s and everyone was convinced everyone that wasnt in business with them was running a mafia family, they are a strange bunch in the balkans they love slinging mud. he just appears like the average balkan billionaire to me who by our standards seem dodgy but literally everybody is like that over there. you really have to live there to see the s*** that goes on over there.

yes its funny to post the libel stuff we do about the dodgy greek but i would like to point out i got banned from this forum for alleged libel against mel morris which was tame compared to the stuff posted on here and the greek seems keen on sueing everyone with a pulse at the minute

The old carrot on a stick regime.  I give us more chance of winning the Champions League in the next ten years than Birmingham having a 60,000 seater stadium.

it was an insane announcement. It would cost over a billion quid to build at the very least, at that stage you may as well just buy a premier league club with a stadium.

  14. it would have been the full house of idiotic fanbases relegated if forest had joined them but that looks unlikely now

still will take this though, it is even funnier that they finally got rid of their awful last owner and replaced him with another moron who is only keeping them on side with ridiclous 60,000 seater stadium plans when they cant fill a 30k one.

  15. i am not overly concerned about who, but can we please change the profile of player going forward. my main critique of our league one spell is we have been far too short sighted, if we hadn't made it this season we would have had to start again. it paid off in the end but it was a risk.

we need a younger profile of player with good athletism as thats what the modern game is all about. I dont want a bunch of 30 year olds on frees. we are gonna have to shell out some money if we are gonna compete in the champ.

  16. we know PW is an expert at this level, thats why we hired him in the first place. the issue now is he has failed over and over again at the next level, thats a bit of a worry to me but thats all on paper and in different circumstances.

im not warnes biggest fan but i hope he can push us on back to being an established championship team now and he would have done well, i think you can only really judge his ability as a manager based on what we achieve next year because we knew he has league one sussed.
