Spot on, its a terrible injustice
As if the big premier clubs dont have enough advantages already, the current system actually encourages them to go trawling around EFL clubs cherry picking their best kids.
We end up losing twice over - not getting a fair price and then missing out on them improving our team when they develop !
Surely something needs to be done about it ?
Maybe the solution is some kind of mandatory sell on clause of, say, 50% plus a very significant appearance fee clause. Currently these cannot be used by the club because the youngster has never signed a senior contract.

The ‘facts’ are that he has more than a dozen full international caps for a country who has played in the recent Euros. At age 23.
Its a ‘fact’ that he is deemed good enough to play alongside the UEFA and FIFA player of the year for 2020
The only ‘fact’ that you have mentioned is the goalscoring record, which is,of course, disappointing.
Lets give him some patience. He’s a young man who has found himself in difficult circumstances, moving to a foreign country, not knowing a word of the language, which was shortly afterwards effectively locked down by the pandemic.
Surely we understand that he will only get better with a bit of support and help, and not with criticism and derision ?

Some people! Has the constant release of updates from the club in the past weeks not been enough for you!
There has been loads of information released to keep the fan base updated. They told us the away kit was out, there was the email about the away kit being available, our second kit, that we wear away was released, and all the other updates…I mean, look, I’m not going to name all of the updates but I think we can all agree that there have been a lot of them, such as the email about the away kit being released for example.
I’m tired of the constant stream of information if I am totally honest. I want to concentrate on the quality brand of football that Rooney is inspiring in us if I am totally honest.

I know where you are coming from Rev
But Stretton has , what, one or maybe two starts in the league ?
Which other kids are there ? Any with any league experience ? Its a big ask relying wholly on untried kids.
We are where we are, having to make do and mend. Not been impressed with Baldock in pre season but he's been around the block and what other realistic options are there before deadline day ? He could come good against the overall consensus just like Colin did

If that was indeed the point that people make then fine - Having read this thread and the posts within it a few times the majority of anti-Jozwiak posts just call him a bad player - That's not the same as 'the wrong fit' (which he may be)
As above - The volume of posters who claim he's poor is what I'm indicating
If there was even the slightest nuance to the posts I wouldn't have been quite so flippant - But the majority of the anti-Jozwiaks just call him poor - The fact he keeps getting picked to play for an international side ranked in the world's top 30 suggests he isn't

WHAT?!?!?
But he's terrible! I've seen many anonymous people on this forum say it so it must be true
What the hell is it with these 'professional international coaches' thinking they can just pick a player? Eh? Why don't they check in with people on this forum who obviously know how terrible he is?

Jagielka was the one we had I trial that I liked the most. He's a very good competitor and despite getting on in his years, I feel he can definitely still provide a good option at this level. He's someone, who regardless of our situation, I wouldn't mind at the club to help keep the younger players focused. It also allows us to rotate our centre backs to keep them as fresh as possible. Mengi would still be a nice addition, but a striker is definitely more pressing.
Baldock, I'm not convinced, but in all honesty we've not got much of a choice and I said the same (in fact much worse) about CKR.

Really interesting question made by the initial poster.
Im a football fan first and a Rams fan second. I follow the Rams because I love football, not the other way round.
I thought this weekends matches were fantastically entertaining
But I also am becoming incredibly frustrated about how one sided things have become in favour of the larger clubs. For example, the way they can just pick off smaller clubs best academy players is absolutely scandalous. Money is just dominating everything it seems which is just horrible.
I agree with the comments that say there will always be a Derby County, even if it had to become a phoenix club. There are far too many fans, lots of very long standing, for that not to happen.
Our second team is Notts County and we go a few times a season. Nice club, nice people, nice ground . No sizeable minority of complete drunken foul mouthed cretins threatening to ruin your enjoyment. And its nice to support a team but not be bothered at all if they lose !! Its a completely different game at that level too, in some ways far less stressful and more enjoyable.
So as well as continuing to support the Rams in whatever guise they were, I would also follow my non league club more .

No offence & obviously things are far from rosy at the minute but seen a few of these posts recently & its doing my head in. To deal with the two suggestions;
1. Only cash-rich/existing Premiership teams can compete anymore
Well, we thought that for much of 2000-2015 and then Leicester happened. And Leeds rose from the dead. And Brentford's shrewd model won them promotion. And Swansea and Wigan won major trophies. In a divisional system progress is always possible & but like it ever was, it needs consistently good decision making, good appointments to manage the football club as a whole & a long term plan. Not the short term 'boom or bust'/celebrity chasing/chuck a load of cash at it nonsense we've specialised in for all bar 2010-14
2. Derby will cease to exist so what do you do then
There will always be a club in Derby...always. Even if the absolute worst case scenario happened which I think is so unlikely as not to worry about, there are the examples of Glasgow Rangers, Wimbledon, Napoli & Fiorentina to look at. Bury will return in time too. The point here is that the fans are the club, not its legal entity
This is a one club city & a city that is passionate about football. There 100% would be a phoenix club & in time it'd be seen as a continuation of the old club - the idea we'd even consider supporting the bindippers for a second makes me vom in my mouth

I love football. Love to play it, to watch it, to listen to it in the car. And the team that I love are Derby County. If they were to cease, I think a Phoenix club would rise in its place. It would be a bit crap, but would give that a go. I could watch football still, but the joy would be gone. It wouldn’t mean as much.

I agree. Roos for the first time it seems to me was starting to actually earn us points this season with his saves, in the way that Carson did when he was at his peak. Be harsh to drop him after one mediocre game.
Personally I always feel rotating or chopping and changing keepers cannot be a helpful policy for the team. Make a decision and stick with it for a good while
Finally it does seem as if something has happened behind the scenes with Marshall. For an international goalkeeper who has just been playing in a major tournament to be deemed not capable of making even the bench of a team who has only won once in nearly 20 games doesnt make any logical sense.
