Spotted these at P’boro; the first example made me laugh out loud portraying as it does an artistic leaning. Not sure about the Rangers connection in the 2nd with me being a Fenian but still all good fun. Anybody know the source or seen other examples?

Derek Hales was signed by the Rams having smashed in 28 goals in 1975/76 season for Charlton in the old 2nd Division (now Championship). He had scored 72 goals in 129 apps for Charlton and at Derby managed 4 goals in 23 apps. We off loaded him to Westham where he faired a little better by scoring 10 in 24 apps. He went back to Charlton in 1978 and scored another 76 goals in 191 apps. Most famous for having a fight with his strike partner Mike Flanagan in a cuptie with Charlton in 1979. Also famous at Derby for missing absolute sitters on numerous occasions.

    Hey lads,
Posh fan here. Just wanted to chip in as have seen some interesting comments on this thread.
I’ll start with saying that in the first half you absolutely played us off the pitch. Most dominant performance from the opposition I’ve seen since forever probably. And I saw us ship 4 against Blackburn away in the first half last season! I was actually taken aback which is a rare thing at this level. Which begs the question are your forwards the issue? I thought Derby were quite powderpuff up front at Pride Park - we just couldn’t hang on with 10 men after a bad sub from our former manager. Same in this game despite playing us off the park.
Second half - looking on this forum and Derby Twitter a lot of you seemed to have admitted defeat going into HT at 0-0 which was quite puzzling to us given what we saw from you. Why do you think this is a common thing with you? We had the same habit last season and ultimately got us relegated (especially in last 10 minutes). We’ve won 20 but lost 15 so we’re unpredictable.
I saw someone mention earlier going to the Royce pub and they thought it was a nice coincidence. Sir Henry Royce of Rolls-Royce was from Peterborough (Alwalton). Nice little fact for you.

As for the ‘Peterborough being a dump’ comments, you’ll rarely find a Peterborian that would disagree with you. The irony of our nickname isn’t lost on us! The identity comments are interesting too - you’ll find Peterborough fans that sound completely different. We get a lot of support from South Lincs/Rutland/Northants. As soon as you go East of Peterborough it becomes Fenny (comboyn ‘arvisturr’). Then you’ve got the ‘London overspill’ descendants that follow us. The “only club where the home fans will sing Peterborough is a s******* I want to go home” comment on here made me laugh - it doesn’t get sung but a lot of our support is from outside of the city. So you’re not far wrong.

I’ll wrap up with advice for future visits. If you go to Drapers (the Spoons) you’re going to get herded to the ground probably. Same thing happens with Cambridge/Northampton/Leicester/Forest etc. Brewery Tap is popular (across the station). Multiple on Oundle Road as well leading to the ground. Charters (the barge on the Nene) a fan favourite as well - just buy multiple at a time as it gets packed.
Interesting to read your thoughts. You definitely seem a more intelligent bunch than Forest fans haha.
Good luck for the rest of the season.

IMO This I think is the only criticism that could be levelled at Warne in that he doesn’t trust the youngsters. Catch 22 he wants as much experience as possible and I get that but the younger lads can give in energy and in Rooney in particular, there is someone who would impact any game. I scratch my head why he doesn’t start every game, and I think he’s a holding midfielder not a RB, with our issues at CB recently he could do a job there. I also think Liam Thompson was looking good in the games where he came on and in the Barnsley FA Cup game he was excellent, he would’ve been a good option to try and regain control in the midfield today.

I feel very conflicted about the current situation at the Club.
Part of me is just grateful that we have a Club. That part believes we shouldn't really be judging Warne until we have a squad he has assembled on a level playing field with other clubs in the division ie by spending money that we can afford.
But, we knew when we signed Warne that we couldn't do this for at least this season and probably next. We also knew that the squad we had was put together, albeit hastily, by a different manager with a very different style of play in mind.
Warne has worked this squad very hard to get them somewhere near the fitness levels he demands, but he isn't able to magic up physicality, or do anything about the age profile of the squad. He has inspired them personally, you can see the effort is there, but some players look to be treading treacle at this stage and in dire need of a rest, yet we've still 8-10 games to go.
So something has to give somewhere. Could we have managed the squad's fitness better by not demanding up-tempo direct football that drains their energy levels in every game? Could we have used the players' undoubted football skills to make the ball do some of the work for them? Could we have rotated the squad better? Could we even (heaven forbid!) have set up not to lose some of these away matches, rather than go all out to win them? An extra 4 or 5 away points from grinding out defensive draws would be very welcome right now, imo.
Or should we look at this season as a free hit? See it as a learning opportunity for Warne to ascertain who he might want to keep in a much-changed squad for next season to play the way he wants and thinks will eventually succeed in getting us out of this division? Should we steel ourselves to waving goodbye to the type of pretty football that has been Derby's trademark for some years now, but has ultimately brought us little success?
I don't know the answer to any of those questions.
And let's not forget this season isn't over yet.
Warne's high-risk, high-reward style of play may yet reap those rewards this season and we might all feel very differently if we gain promotion in a glorious win at Wembley in May. The struggle of how we got there will then be temporarily forgotten.
Until it starts again next season and all the worries will surface again.
I don't think it's an easy time to be a fan at Derby County.

Hourihane's a weird one. Really frustrating watching him and whoever is his oppo is get dominated despite their talent, but his numbers are fantastic. There's no doubt the quality is there, it's the rest of what he brings where there are question marks for me.
If he plays the remaining 9 games he'll likely be close to 10 goals and should get over 10 assists. Seen nothing from Thommo to suggest he's capable of getting anywhere close to those numbers. I'm all for blooding the youngsters but we've got to have a bit of substance as well.
Same sort of vein to what Tom Lawrence was for us the last few years. Loads of questions around his general play at times, missing for consecutive games but he would win you a game out of nothing. As miserable as the football and goal scoring was under Wazza, if we didn't have Tom chipping in it would have been even worse.

Let's face it, Bird, Knight and Sibley are THE dream team.

I agree with this to some extent, but the way Warne plays with two wingers he'd have to drop Knight to allow Sibley into that role. He is different from McGoldrick in that he likes to start deeper and run at defences. We don't do enough of that, imo. I'd definitely see McGoldrick a bit further forward if that allowed Sibley back into his more natural role. Maybe sacrifice a winger?

I would sooner Curtis Davies come on as the centre forward replacement substitute than Collins. Think he would win more headers and cause the opposition defence more problems.
