Mostyn6 reacted to Comrade 86 in Watchable telly
Been watching The Last Kingdom and am quite enjoying it. It's an epic tale of Anglo / Danish conflicts, focussing on he warrior lord, Uhtred who was born a Saxon but raised by Vikings. It's a long way from perfect, though it seems to be improving from season to season and it's pretty enjoyable stuff with some excellent villains meeting satisfyingly bloody ends along the way. It's based on fact, though how fast and loose with history they are, I'm not entirely certain.

I think it's dangerous. The link between men (particularly in my age range) committing suicide and their feelings of not wanting to burden/bother anyone is quite large. When I was in my bad place, the feeling of solitude and nobody understanding was quite overwhelming. This forum helped me get away from those feelings and took away my shame and embarrassment for the feelings I had. This, in a long line of out of touch politicians, has been quite stupid here but I hope we have come too far and will continue to.

not wishing to downplay your worries in any way shape or form, and would never tell you how to feel about a beloved family member, but I have vast experience in the contracting/redundancy and general lack of security, and as s*** as it is, I've found that as long as I pick myself up, dust myself down, and conduct myself properly, the rewards will come and the situation resolves itself, I hope that whatever happens workwise, you back yourself and your ability and you are fine.

After my drive up the M6 today, I would say Dave Myers of Hairy Bikers fame.
Day for Dave was today and reportedly 10000-25000 bikers made their way to Barrow in Furness in charitable tribute to Dave.
I started noticing spectators on bridges over the M6 around Staffordshire, then when traffic came to a halt, must've seen 1000 bikes weaving through. It was quite an impressive spectacle.

sadly, a colleague of my girlfriend had been struggling with mental health for a while, people were aware of his struggles, yet someone saw fit to complain about his standard of work, and reported/complained, eventually, he reached a cruel and devastating state of mind and decided to end it all. Some of my GF's friends are absolutely heartbroken having worked more closely with him (than my GF). We were in Prague over the weekend, and we had a few natural beers and it suddenly hit her quite hard, and she was totally bewildered and struggling to understand why this lovely fella had decided to take his own life.
In answer to some of her questions, I made reference to my own struggles, which I try to play down as low mood nowadays, but back when I started this thread, I was really struggling to find a reason to be alive. This shocked her a lot and I was mentioning some of the stories and explanations in this thread, and ultimately how it helped me.
I'm in a good place now, as I said a few weeks back, and I also know how to spot my decline and what to do to halt and reverse it. Basically, I jump on a treadmill 3 times a week for a month and I'm automatically on top of the world. I'm a rubbish runner, and it hurts, but sense of achievement is immense. I remember wanting to get to 1km non-stop, then 10mins, then 2km, then 2.5km nonstop, then all the way up to 5km nonstop, and then it was doing 5km in under 30mins, and eventually did it in 26mins, which for me was amazing having been medically advised to never run.
Anyway, what I am saying is, awareness is the first step to recovery, then needing to find your little cure is vital.

I said the same to my wife and daughter, you want a cat, you look after it.
Years later my daughter got married and moved out, but the cat stayed.
Emily the cat passed away two weeks ago aged between 22 and 23 (104 and 108 in human years.
You could be in it for the long haul 🙂

It’s my daughters 4th birthday on Monday, she wanted a kitten. My wife wanted a kitten too and I didn’t. We ended up compromising and got a kitten. She’s called Mavis (after hotel Transylvania) and she’s quite cute I guess.

We stumbled across a bar called the Victory, where the bloke assumed we were after that sort of thing and started telling us about the club downstairs where it's €20 to get in, €10 a beer and €60 a dance. We declined to partake due to combination of price, state of the place (toilet) and wanting to watch CL final. Think there was another that had been researched called The Royal, but it was thought to be a scam. There are girls there trying to get you to specific bars to buy them drinks, but they only drink champagne and you get stung for like €150. We took time to speak with the lads that ride the tuktuk bikes and looked after them with tips to see us right.
