I'm not sure you can call Waghorn his signing. Yes technically it's under his tenure but he was openly candid how he stubbornly didn't rate him whatsoever and if it wasn't for his idiotic stubbornness which led to a lack of numbers up front during preseason. We can only thank Forsyth for that. I'd love to know a list of players Mark Thomas or the newly formed scouting team have recommended and he rejected over this summer.

I agree but it won’t be happening based on an Athletic article I read yesterday morning. Pearce and Clowes scoffed at the idea when Matt Slater raised it to them on Tuesday evening. I think the plan is to get more football knowledge on to the board as NED’s but I would worry these would be sentimental appointments.
It seems crazy to me that you would not have football people in charge of football decisions but what do I know

A short term caretaker for the rest of the season option no matter who it is (preferably an experienced coach) whilst Clowes resets the clubs bearings is probably the wisest move. Once we sack Warne it really does rubberstamp this season as a free hit and i think now you have to in order to cull the toxicity it's creating. I wouldn't want to bring Buxton into the first team or any of the academy lot to fill in because who will then fill in for the academy. It's a right pickle!

Could you imagine by divine miracle Rotherham taking Warne back after sacking Matt Taylor

Why the rush for a long term option during this season? The whole squad pretty much is out of contract at the end of the season so unless there is a stand out candidate I'd rather have a caretaker who can just a have a free hit on the rest of the season and see what we can do. Gary Bowyer for me would be a decent enough caretaker. If we sell Bird/Cashin replace with loans in Jan until we address the structure of the club going forward.

A thread was created just a few days before Warne was appointed, asking a simple question: If not Rosenior, then who would you hire? There were very few people with genuine alternatives to Rosenior. Not a single person suggested Warne.

Even on the day of Warne's appointment, there were 85 people with enough foresight to know Warne wouldn't be good enough

Some good points were also made in this thread, just 1 month into this job.

I get that as well. I think he has totally underestimated the actual size of the club and the position it was/still in and the structure and footballing philosophy we have played to for near around the last 10 years. It's hard to write that without looking big headed but that's what we are and it's weird that it seems he's quite shameful of that. His defeated attitude towards winning back the fans in the interview this afternoon just shows that he's not totally invested in the football club.
He's painted in a good light that he's open in interviews but i see him as very very suffocating, inflexible and stubborn. At a time like this I bet his insistence on chatting on whatsapp and needing to be in the personal lives of players especially let's say tomorrow after this afternoons performance must really rub the wrong way on certain players.
Another aspect that stuck with me was an Rams Tv interview he did in spain after we sold Knight when he said along the lines of 'player's on the last year of their contract are not going to be committed performance wise'. Most of our squad is out of contract in the summer? I feel he sounded his own death knell with these players.

This is one hell of a pickle Clowes and I guess Pearce have got themselves into in terms of what approach to take if they are going to pull the trigger on Warne. For me if we are going to replace it has to be a caretaker manager and we find a progressive forward thinking Director of Football/Technical Director over the course of the rest of this season so we properly build for the future. We have 14 players out of contract (with possibly some gone in January).
There is no need to rush into another 3/4 year contract for a manager if one is not available. I don't see a clear longer term candidate.
We shouldn't fall into 'Total Manager' structure like we have done with Warne when it comes to recruitment because for me it's outdated and it just ends up players that doesn't fit the next managers tactics. We suffered this under Mel.
