Kathcairns reacted to jono in Rams vs Swansea Matchday Thread
Strange how we all have different views. I had huge admiration for Swansea and the way the kept the ball and pressed us in the first half hour, but they didn’t really do much with it despite our back foot timid display. For me it was an absorbing match - and that unusual for me as I am a goal addict. I was disappointed with Stretton early on, slow to react and slow off the mark but he was gradually improving. There was some great defending and some near howlers. Allsop dominated his box, full of intelligence, anticipating problems and snuffing them out. Thought Dylan Williams did brilliantly both in attack and defence .. Since his debut, which was all willing endeavour but a bit short on horsepower, he seems to have got stronger. It’s going to be a feature of this season .. Many of these players are young and if handled right the growth in ability and resilience will be more visible every game .. We are seeing it already !
Once again a ref that gives a yellow card score of 3 - 0 to the opponents, presumably because they fell over more often and moaned more effectively. Fozzies was joke … just 2 players fighting for a ball that went out of play. Doubt there was a foul and never a yellow
Second half reshape helped and Swansea tired. We had the best chances, they had most possession. Draw is a fair result but if Tom had stick one away we’d have earned it by sheer graft.

Id agree with this.
The amount of yellow cards we are running up for innocuous challenges is ridiculous.
Another bug bear of mine is how full backs seem to have become the latest protected species, there is liberally no point chasing one back towards his own goal, they literally just have to fall over and are guaranteed a free kick, as their left back showed today.

You don't think that some of them looked tired? It's not surprising in such a small squad with lots of pressure on them.

Joint best defence in the league - if only we could score a few more goals...but clean sheets will be so vital to our campaign

We would have lost this last year. Second best team and we took a point. Take what you can get when you are tired and do not play well. Third best defence in the league. Chipped a point off two bottom three teams. 35 games to go.

Would've taken 4 points from Swansea and Reading at home at the start of the week.
I did think the win v Reading was a big effort so expected us to be a bit leggy today and not surprised Swansea dominated the ball. I'm pleased our stubon streak is still solidly in place.
international break to get rested and find a new sugar daddy.

2 games in a week probably exposes the shallow nature of our squad but would have taken 4 points before we kicked off on Weds. COYR

Point gained on Peterborough, Barnsley and Cardiff.
Not the best display but we kept a clean sheet and go into the break to rest some very tired legs.
It'll do for now.

Got to look on the bright side, clean sheet and another point chipped off the 12, that’s 33% in two games.

A hard earned point. Not unhappy.
Oh for a goal scorer.
A decent 2nd half display. #COYR

glass half full from the comments on the game it seems we would have lost that last season.

Not the best or the worst performance ever. Stayed solid under constant pressure for 90 minutes and restricted them to very few if any real chances.
Probably the beat chance(s) of the game came to Lawrence who couldn't score with three direct shots.
Overall a well deserved and welcome point on the board.
We will be alot happier in the end than Swansea!

I'd settle for a 3-0 win but will reluctantly take 0-0 ?

It is a remarkable defensive statistic & the approach has been entirely correct. Make sure we are difficult to beat & then build out from that.
With regard to improving our attacking threat, its obviously a tough one given the limitations of our squad. Given we know Baldock isn't likely to score many, I feel we need to give Stretton plenty of game time to see if he can develop into a regular scorer. There's also an argument for us moving to 3-5-2 when Kazim returns with Stretton or Baldock playing off him...this would keep us defensively solid but give us more & varied outlets up top.
Listening to Rosenior in the week highlighted just how hard the coaching team are working with the players to improve them & the team dynamic. I was struck by his comment about 8 of the squad achieving sprint PBs & Im guessing the coaching will also extend to decision making & situational awareness. We've already seen great strides in how we knock the ball around & our discipline...the next stage is getting so good at that we routinely cut the opposition open. That creates more chances & you'd think, more goals.

Stretton was a bit unlucky today in that we just didnt have the ball and had no control of the game apart from either side of half time. We seem to say after every game that we missed decent chances - knight and Lawrence certainly did today...I still have a hope that Stretton could get a run of goals once he gets settled into the side..he was pretty isolated today so hopefully will see more of a threat from him if he can stay in the side.
I agree though - this isnt a new issue it was the same last year although, we are certainly creating a lot more chances this season. I havent given up hope that Stretton might be the one if he goes on one of those goalscoring runs - he always looked a natural goalscorer albeit in the 23s..I might just be clutching at straws though. Hopefully new owners in January will get a couple of experienced strikers in as a boost.

He should have worn a seat belt. His fault.
And anyway since when has it been a matter of who was most at fault? I mean Lawrence shouldn't have been driving the car, but two wrongs don't make a right , that is no defence.

If Keough had relied on employment law he would have got nothing. He relied on EFL Law which is that if the club is Derby County you are guilty until proven innocent , and even then you are guilty.

Well yes. A proper journo would have asked.. "So Richard you were the only person who was injured out of the four people you say were in the car? Why do you think that might have been? Was it perhaps because you were not wearing a seat belt?"
"Will the people who lost their jobs this week from Derby County be getting £2 million payouts after self inflicted injuries that prevent them from doing their jobs anyway?"
"Why are you coming out with this stuff now, could it have anything to do with the fact that you are worried your big windfall might be at risk if Derby go up in smoke?"
"How many games have you played in the Premier League Richard?"
"Isn't £2.3 milion rather a lot of money for a player of such limited ability , even if you had been paid for playing instead of paid for inflicting on yourself an injury of you own making?"
These are the sorts of questions I would be asking.

Yes.
He's not allowed to take his wand in on matchdays, as he could use it as a weapon.
He's also banned from casting spells whilst on licensed premises.
... and if he bores us all with his "I remember when King Arthur once said to me..." just once more, I swear I'll kick his bloody 4r5e!
You are very welcome, my friend. ??
