There's no way they'll appoint a rookie with less than a full season in management - they're not Chelsea ?
Seriously, you don't give a rebuilding job as big as they are envisaging to a manager still learning the ropes - unless you're completely stupid.

would be a nuts decision by Newcastle and relegation as he would be sacked by January

Do people seriously believe that Newcastle and their billionaire owners are going to look at anyone other than a tried and tested manager?

According to Lascelles, Ashley has made them play the wrong way for the last 6 years, I thought that was down to the manager. He's glad that the new owners have come in, I wonder if he'll still feel that way, when a new player gets his place in January?

There is still a massive amount of information not in the public domain. I think a post mortem of Mel’s tenure should not be started until the new owners are in place. Perhaps then we will have the full story, and be able to comment factually on how he has performed.

Yes I think Mel deserves criticism and plenty of it for his poor judgements . But questioning his honesty is over the top in my view.

Yes, and before everyone piles in with yet more libellous comments or personal insults, it might be worth remembering that a successful outcome to the current situation is at least partly dependent on our former owner's continued cooperation.

Sam Rush + players under the wasserman umbrella... No thanks.
Mel Morris was reckless for splashing the cash like a kid in a candy store. But it was Sam Rush alongside our dire recruitment team who actually signed the dross.
If Morris had splashed the cash with a system like Brentford's in place we'd be an established top 10 PL club now.
But instead we got Wasserman dross.
And the contracts were ridiculous. It's well documented how Darren Bent triggered a year extension in his own contract without Morris even knowing about it. Incompetence all round.

Does he? He's made some decent stops but nothing I wouldn't expect Roos not to make. They're both decent, we've got the best defence in the league so far and Roos has played a big part in that.

Its not a conspiracy, its more likely a hint at a meeting that refs should not be swayed by having Lampard or Rooney on the touch line. Subconciously it becomes biased against us.
Simple as that really, refs won't see it as cheating, just an awareness that they shouldn't give decisions to Derby because Wayne Rooney is managing us. Which means if its a 50/50 shout it will always go against us.

The reason we get poor refs and linesmen is because the standard of refereeing in this country is appalling and getting worse. Every club suffers, probably relatively equally. The unfit, overweight, unknown school teacher amateurs of the 70s were better than the current lot. Thank God we had Mike Dean in the last match of last season.
If the efl were managing the game properly they would realise that it’s becoming a major issue, far more important to the overall state of the game than most other things.  They won’t do much about it.
I would still rather have incompetence in black than var though.

The fact that Ridsdale was elected to the EFL Board says all you need to know about the EFL - it's like putting Ronnie Biggs in charge of a Mail Train.

My argument is, it doesn't matter how our finances were, it doesn't matter how close to the wind Mel was sailing, Covid not only cost us 20 million in revenue, we also werent able to access an £8 million loan that all over clubs could. The EFL, in unprecedented times, conveniently made up the rule that, if you are under an embargo you can't have it. I'm sure it was just a coincidence that the 1 club it affected was us.
That £28 million would have wiped the HMRC bill and then all we are left with is the debt owed for players/managers and other creditor debt which isn't classed as preferential.
The picture would have looked so much better if it wasn't for the landscape unexpectedly changing.
I fully expect our appeal to be a success, as I'm sure the administrators will, and if it isn't the EFL seriously need investigating.

Looking at the video that loweman2 posted on the weekend thread, Niel Hallam says that most clubs do what we have been doing...but we always got caught..he said it's politics/political, We've been a thorn in the side of the football authoritys for over a centuary...the EFL in their wisdon feel they need to hammer us and are changing their stance as and when they choose, Of course this has nothing to do with DCFC appealing the 12 points deduction now has it...take the b astards on.

Why should we be asked to show EFL anything at this stage? The adminstrators have said that if a buyer cannot  be found before January there will be a fire sale. So we know that money can be raised and the wage bill reduced if it absolutely needs to be.
Has Pauline Latham (or any other Derbyshire MP) had their meeting with the EFL? They need to be called out and pronto they are out of control.

Not seen mention of this (but the threads are so long so apologies if I've missed it) but the Nixon thread seems the obvious place. He's saying the EFL have now demanded the Administrators take out loans to put actual money into the bank to cover Derby's commitments all the way through to the end of the season:
Previously the EFL said the Administrators had given them sufficient guarantees that the club would continue trading through to the season's end, and that was sufficient. Now they've changed their minds (they make this up as they go along) and have decided (as Nixon suggests) to treat Derby differently and force us to borrow more money at extortionate rates (and who will lend it to us?).
The EFL is clearly trying to make it much harder for us to find a buyer. Do they want us liquidated as a trophy "pour encourager les autres" (?) or do they just want to make damned sure we get relegated at least one division? It's hard to know. It's an absurdity that we can't demonstrate through projected revenues from gate receipts and TV revenues etc that we will be able to fulfil our fixtures.

Can't say I'm particularly keen to refer to people who celebrate being bankrolled and controlled by a regime known for state sponsored beheadings as 'bretheren' tbh.
I mean if their own fans want to big them up, OK I guess it's understandable, but fans of other clubs sucking up to them and making out they're bigger than they are? No thanks.

Read the Nixon snippet, sensationalist headline, but when you read it it’s all about if we don’t get a buyer we will have to prove we have funds to see the season out or we will remain in the embargo we’re in, which means we probably won’t be able to re-sign Jagielka and Baldock given Bielik and Kazim will be fully fit by then. To be honest, a fair and reasonable position from the EFL.

IF we get to January without a buyer then we know we will be in the absolute poo and probably have to sell players. Therefore the article says nothing new!!

And those thinking Lawrence is on £65k per week calm yourselves down. No way is he on that, £25-£30k tops! Mitrovic is regarded as biggest earner in champ normally and he’s on about £65k per week, maybe slightly more, that was when Fulham were promoted to the premier league and he signed for £25m!! No way would Derby have given Lawrence that sort of contract and if they had do you not think it would’ve been mentioned before now.

I think this is EFL trying their play to say we would still have gone bust even without COVID, the stadiums are open again and stil we cannot pay the wages?

But our revenue still hasn't returned to pre COVID levels of £30 million.
If it did we would be well above the wage levels being paid.

Plus I dont see how you get a wage bill of £13.5 million over seven months when half the squad is on about £500k pa each.  I doubt we have more than about 2 or 3 players on above £1 million pa.

    Absolutely.
It happens to us on such a regular basis now that it isn’t just chance. All teams will of course claim the refs don’t give the decisions their way but it’s starting to go beyond that. We have committed amongst the fewest fouls but have amongst the highest yellow cards. We’ve had several blatant penalties not given - 2 against the red dogs were the most nailed on in decades of watching football.
Im not suggesting a full on conspiracy where all referees gathered at a country hotel for a weekend and put together a dossier of”  “do’s and Don’ts” when reffing the Rams “ but there is something more subtler going on - a culture of bias against Derby widespread amongst championship refs. It’s quite clear to me and WR is right to call it out.
