Anger, most certainly in this context, is a backward looking, negative emotion. There is nothing we can do about what has happened, it's done, look forward.
Anyway, change is good, freshens things up, a complete reset is required whether we like it or not. This gives the opportunity, backwards to go forwards and all that jazz.....

League One doesn't operate FFP like the Championship does. Instead of Profit and Sustainability (P&S) rules clubs operate under the Salary Cost Management Protocol (SCMP) which restricts salaries to 60% of the turnover. Given that Derby would have one of the largest turnovers in the division (probably the largest if Sunderland go up) and that all of our high earners will have gone (most already have), I think it gives the management team some scope to build a very competitive squad around the talented young players on our books.
Of course some of our best players will be sold (or released), but I don't think it will be the clear out some might imagine.
And, as I have said before, League One is just the same old circus but with new towns in which to pitch the big top. After all, the mere act of going to the football each week is far more important than the football you are going to! Otherwise we'd all be Man City fans.

Am sure a lot of supporters still are to be fair.
Personally I'm beyond that emotion now, have to say am very weary and tired and any energy I have isn't going to be profitably served venting my spleen at the club owner who predominantly got us into this situation.
That still won't change anything, for me the person now has gone from the club and maybe in a few years time I'll reflect in a more balanced way about their tenure.
I've even grown weary of having debates with the same posters on here trying to defend the indefensible as again banging your head against a brick wall serves no purpose.
    Time to move on.

It is in the best interests of the football club for the EFL to now be negotiating with the administrators. We do not have cash reserves. We owe much more than we own. The administration is for the benefit of the creditors not the club. If the administrators do not get a buyer in soonest the club will fold.

I'm probably in the minority, but I'll take the minus 21 now if it means a clean slate, if it means a sale can go through and if it means we can finally stop this constant merry-go-round of claim, counter-claim, charge, appeal, claim etc. The uncertainty is killing the club and having this hanging over us for the best part of two years does nobody any favours.
We have been poorly treated by the EFL. Mel has made huge mistakes. But the circus has to move on at some point and having negotiations and appeals hanging over us for the next few months, maybe even into next season, with no sale because of it, is worse than taking the hit now.
The fact is we've tried to take the EFL on at every turn and failed at every turn, costing huge amounts of money and time. It doesn't make it fair, or right necessarily, but it does tell you something - know when you're beaten and sometimes it's better to cut your losses and start again.

Wasnt it our fault that we didnt take an accountant to represent us at the appeal? All of this is rubbish to put it politely but if we have a buyer ready and waiting who is as good as we are going to get and they say look can we just finalise everything for good so I can take over a club with no further EFL threats so we can get going in January with no fire sale for cash, then it may be in creditors interests (which is who the admins are supposed to be working for) to accept, get a clean slate and move on with a buyer?  Perhaps this also means other clubs stop their spiteful legal threats if we accept? If we won the -12 appeal do you really think EFL bullies and other clubs would have accepted it and moved on or carried on until we were relegated and more pulverised?

I thought this as soon as we went into admin and started selling out away ends. We should say we aren’t selling away tickets as we haven’t got an operating ticket office and then keep the money in our own club by purchasing home tickets.
whilst we’re at it, put all away tickets in our ground upto £40-£50 and fleece other fans. They hate us anyway so may as well add another thing to their list.

we should definitely not sell any boro tickets !!!!

Don’t go to anymore away games this season . You won’t be filling the coffers of other Championship teams. Save the cash and use it next season to buy a friend or relative a season ticket . The players will understand.

And many can see the real possibility still of our club going out of existence. So compared to that yes being in league one is a fantasy for many who can also remember the great time that followed our relegation to the third tier last time.

You obviously didnt read through the mel morris trend on twitter yesterday evening.  I think most fans are both furious and very sad it has come to this but the stoical optimistic trenches humorous outlook is what i like about this forum and the posters. Spineless is insulting to those who can obviously separate supporting the team and players from those who have caused this.   Out of interest what should fans have done instead of your last sentence?

You are correct, it was not a minor offence, it was no offence at all, as concluded by the IDC.
The important thing you are omitting is that we tried to circumvent FFP but fully within the rules.
If you are still arguing that the stadium valuation was an inflated figure I'm guessing that you have not followed the case too closely.
Maybe the EFL should start challenging the sales values of players? I can think if plenty that have been sold at inflated values.
Our financial situation is in no way down to the EFL but the fact that we have found ourselves with our hands tied behind our backs for nearly 2 years (let that timescale sink in) lays fully at their door.
We've basically been stopped from operating normally and put in the position of not being allowed access to a Covid loan purely on the basis of unfounded alllegations from other clubs.

Yes, but the question is why we were ordered to resubmit accounts?
The IDC found that our method of amortisation was sound, and the LAP found it only worthy of a £100,000 fine.
Making us resubmit the accounts was basically forcing us to fail P&S because they already knew the outcome.

Given that we (think) we know that the EFL signed off our accounts for years before identifying the issue and, effectively, retrospectively punishing us (and the consequences of this resubmitting accounts that have put us in the ?), I’m amazed we/the administrators haven’t sought to take the EFL to court ourselves.  I just cannot see how the EFL’s position has been on any way in the interests of natural justice. This is particularly the case, when you think about the ridiculous cases Boro and Wycombe are trying on.
I’m like a dog with a bone on this, but I also still fail to see why the EFL are so intent on destroying the club. There must have been ways out for them which would have seen them able to punish us and still save safe with the other clubs (eg leaving it at the 100,000 fine, not requiring updated accounts and just being told not to do it again… or something… there must have been scope for leniency and discretion, especially with things like COVID.). Just a massive group of jobsworths.
Yes, Mel needs to take the lion’s share of the blame for all this as he is ultimately responsible, but the EFL have been deplorable in my humble opinion.
Oh well. Futile rage it is then!

We have been found guilty of a minor offence and given a £100K fine, there doesn't seem to be any other charge on the table yet. Mel sailed us into a very grey area by trying to outflank FFP, it seems he did a good enough job to prevent a straight forward charge. The EFL have then sailed into their own grey area to bully and undermine us with embargo's and inuendo. There seems to have been a constant drip of information undermining us throughout the whole process.
I'm angry with the EFL for their underhand conduct of the affair, with Mel for him taking his bat home and leaving us in the lurch, with Gibson and Couhig for trying to Bury us with their legal action. Relegation may be the least of our worries, if the EFL continue to duck with us then we may have half the team leave of a free and the talented kids for a pittance. If HMRC dig there heels in we could still go under. I keep hearing Patrick Allen's voice telling me this might be the last game you ever see, and it's making me upset.

The new ownership (assuming it happens) and Rooney both have a decision to make now.

Firstly the new owner whoever that may be. What is the plan and strategy moving forward, what is their ambition for the club and what is the plan and timescale to get there. Is it a short-term throw money at it and plead forgiveness model when it all goes south (known as the Morris way)? Is it invest nothing and build totally around the academy or is it an intelligent recruitment model to supplement the academy built around a defined style of playing? Either way (unless it’s the Morris way) they will need a manager who is in it for the long term, prepared to build something from league 1 upwards. Hiring a young talented league 1 manager has its risks, if we have a purely league 1 mindset then we risk becoming a league 1 club for a significant period of time. A journeyman league one manager who knows the league would be a disaster IMO.
The other options are either convince a big hitter who has some experience of the lower leagues but who has had success that we are a sleeping giant that needs awakening and back them to build success, similar to last time we were at this level and we enticed Arthur Cox to join us.  Or decide Rooney is the man, back him to the hilt, give him time to build something and work his way back to this championship. But Rooney has to commit to the long-haul, has to be prepared to drop to league 1 and play the long game, get it right it could make his managerial career and catapult him to the top level with an unbelievable football grounding combined with his elite football mindset. If there is any question or doubt that Rooney would stay and manage us into league 1 - get rid immediately and get someone who will.
As for Rooney, he also has to make a decision. Is he prepared to drop to league 1 if he has owner who will back him, give him time enable him to build a successful club, ensuring a first class football grounding that will eventually lead him to the top where he wants to be? Or is it too much of a risk, will he be forgotten? Does he take the short-term option of leaving for a better offer? Who will employ him? Will baggies get so fed up with Ismael that they take a chance on him? Would they go for him if Dean Smith and Daniel Farke are on the market? Any job without parachute payments will be tough unless there is a good infrastructure in place.

I think Rooney has demonstrated immense leadership this season and I hope the owners give him the chance and he wants to stay to see it through, through relegation to promotion back to the championship and hopefully back to the premier league.

Whatever happens, whatever we do between now and the end of the season has to be with the aim of being a sustainable but competitive league one club next season that can then compete in the championship. Recruitment has to be with a medium/long term aim and if we manage the great escape then brilliant but don’t compromise next season to save this one.

If the points deduction are as suggested, it might well take the fight from some players. We have to balance preparing for next season whilst still remaining competitive. I can't see what we as a club would gain from continuing a Davies and Jagielka partnership each week. A mix of youth and experience, but give each youth a few games run before swapping out.
Allowing the youngsters a less pressured environment to get use to the pace and physicality is an ideal opportunity.
Far rather see them learn(hopefully) than see Lawrence make the usual wrong choice!

Back in the day, I'd've agreed with that philosophy. But, nowadays, teams including ours "rest" players, playing youngsters "for experience", in cup competitions and the like.
Given that a 21 point deduction would effectively condemn us to relegation (with this squad, no goalscorer etc), my suggestion would only be an extension of the play-youngsters-in-the-cup idea.
And, unlike those cup sides, as I said before, I'd balance the number of youngsters with more experienced heads who could mentor them on the pitch.
As for questioning tactics if we did follow my suggestion, I'd say look at the other threads....a lot of folks are proposing the very same thing.

I'll take a consistent run on 3pm Saturday games, with no international breaks. It's not going to feel glamorous, far from it, but it is what you make it. The possibility of new away grounds is exciting to me. I'm genuinely looking forward to a bit of a change.
Football is football at the end of the day. We've been a low scoring, largely dull side under a transfer embargo for the past two seasons. I couldn't care less about being one step further from a division I haven't seen since I was a teenager. If all I was interested in was the Premier League, I'd travel 30 minutes in the other direction and watch Leicester.

I imagine the administrators have conceded knowing that there is a buyer (probably Kirchner, possibly Appleby & Co) who is keen to push through a deal with our financial / league position finally established.
If it’s true, the rebuild starts now. Rooney should have full license to recruit for League 1 and to set up a system designed to win games and not just mitigate damages.
Give the fans football to be excited about, even if our fate is set.

One of the best seasons ever for going away, was that promotion campaign under Arthur.
Still remember besides the football, trips to the likes of York, can’t remember nothing about the game in truth, just being shunted into the station after the game, the coppers deciding to treat us like animals, so we behaved like it back. Several hundred baa, baa’s as they herded us through onto the train, with the end result of the old station doors hanging off the hinges and everyone pi$$ing themselves as the train left the station.
Football supporting was bloody fun being the biggest club in the league, taking over stadiums (if you could call some that, who remembers the many away ends that were just open concrete terraces), out-singing locals, none of the premier league trappings.
    Next year could be fun.
