The fact we do not own the ground is not such a huge deal lots of clubs do not own their grounds look down the A52 for one.
Many of the Spanish and Italian clubs do not own theirs and in America too. It is only major issue to supporters and potential investors from overseas will not see it has a deal breaker.

The Daily Fail article is up to their usual standard. Mixing up “:secured creditors” with “ preferred creditors” , mixing up market value with asset values, referring to an HMRC bail out (nobody is expecting HMRC ago pay any money into the club) . oh and then there are all those anonymous sources.

If Sunderland were sold for £30 million that will reflect the club’s assets and their debts. Of course Derby’s market value is likely to be less than that, that is why they are in administration. Insolvency means the market value would be nothing .

but comparing market value with debts is just very misleading.

And we drew both games against boro so no obvious advantage gained . In any case even if boro had finished on the play offs what would that have brought them .

thr proper test anyway is what if Derby hadn’t broken the rules  ( as alleged) . They allegedly overspent by £4million up to 2017/18.. what advantage did that give them in 2018/19? Marginal at best .. in fact if we hadn’t wasted money we would have been in a better place now.

boro’s case would be stronger against the Efl who had they acted sooner could have deducted points and given boro a play off place. But arguably Efl should have acted much sooner and the overspending would never have happened .

Would be interesting to see how that would play out in our case. We lost one-off playoff final games against 2 over-spending teams. I'd say we absolutely have a case that we were uniquely affected.

If there were anyt decent journalists left in this country, they might want to look into the links between Boro and the EFL - seems they have far more influence and leeway than other clubs.....something smells iffy...

In the civil courts and I guess this is where this is going it would be based on the balance of probabilities so they need to prove that it is more likley than not to have affected the run in.
This is not that easy to prove as you would need to factor in things such as other clubs overspending (Aston Villa, Leeds etc) during that period and the possible effect that might have the Derby overspend might have on the number of points obtained.  Also as said that bring in the playoffs is no guarantee of promotion.

To be fair to Boro they really wanted Waghorn, which was why when he was available on a free over summer they rushed in to get him. They rated him that highly!
If they were successful on this then the can of worms would be well and truly opened and we could sue QPR, Villa and Bournemouth and the like. I think it is petty and ridiculous. Is Gibson suing Assombolonga for not scoring enough goals?

Being as Gibson has been to the EFL twice with 4 different attempts to due us and been told that he cannot because of EFL rules isn't it time that the EFL stepped in an charged him with bringing the game into disrepute. Or do Middlesbrough work under different rules where their players are allowed to elbow others in at least 2 matches, Gibson can make threats and the manager use foul and abusive language at the officials in nearly every match. I fear the latter is true.

Then surely their case should be against the EFL for failing to enfoirce their rules in a timely manner....though as they contributed to the delay, they're on a pretty sticky wicket....

We should be retrospectively taking both QPR and Aston Villa to court, how much money have they cost us by breaking the FFP rules the year we could have got promoted.
One could say that Mel saw QPR break the rules and pretty much get away with it and thought to hell with it, if they can do it we will.
We should try legal action against Ipswich for one of there players breaking Thornes leg, seeing as that probably cost us promotion.

I know their thinking (and morally you could argue their case), but there's absolutely nothing illegal in what we did (as far as a court of law goes) so I'm wondering what they are actually suggesting we've done that makes them think they have a legal case against us.....
Football is full of injustices (and blatant cheating) - if Boro can sue us (and win) it opens the floodgates for clubs to sue someone else for every percieved slight against them......

From previous reports, I believe it's on the basis that if we hadn't "overspent" we wouldn't have pipped them to the signing of Waghorn and would have finished below them in the table.
Yet, as their Wikipedia page states  "a poor finish to the season caused them to finish 7th and miss out on the playoffs by one point."
They picked up 16 points from their last 12 games but will no doubt be arguing that they would have breezed through the playoffs on that form, so we owe them oodles of cash. Given that a panel of football experts and successful gamblers would struggle to guess 50% of championship results correctly, I'm not sure how strong their case is, particularly when they still had the substantial advantage over us of Parachute Payments.
But it'll waste more of our time and money, so job done I guess.

This snippet from last night's meeting really pisses me off:
"They are also fighting legal charges – for the Middlesbrough charge, lawyers has already been engaged  on both sides."
If this doesn't demonstrate Steve Gibson's malicious nature, nothing does.
What an absolute waste of administrators' time and the club's money. Talk about kick a man when he's down!

I wasn't disagreeing with you, it wasn't a criticism of NC, just adding some context. I think it was 9 transfer windows across 4 years or something like that.
    It works both ways.
The more money you have to spend the more money you have to waste, the bigger the transfer fees, the more obnoxious your spending looks when a player turns out not to be a good fit. However if you only ever really get to sign people on budget fees you're never taking the risk that an expensive signing might fail, and people more easily forget that ones which didn't work out.
High risk / low reward vs Low risk / high reward.
It's easy to remember the signings Clough made who went on to perform so well for us over a number of years but they only really cover maybe, what, 1 in 7 of his signings? (so roughly 8-9/60 who went on to impress in the long run).  I'd probably say another 3/7 were 'decent' signings and the other 3/7 "didn't work out".
Of his two 'expensive' signings (for us at the time) you've got Keogh & Sammon which is quite the contrast.
Other managers who've come and gone since then have been working under totally different budgets and expectations, so it's not really fair to compare but if you were then ratio wise you're probably looking at roughly similar, however value for money wise it's been a disaster. Whether that's purely down to the amount of money we've thrown about or the specific manager's ability to choose the right players is up for debate.
It's impossible to say what would have happened had Nigel  had the same budget as other managers, he could have signed more Keoghs or he could have signed more Sammons.
Anyway, Craig Forsyth, love him, deserves a testimonial.

Always been a player that has made me groan. Not in terms of effort, or loyalty, or Championship defensive ability really, just that he was, and still is, always prone to making terrible passes or over hitting crosses from good positions. I think probably though, in hindsight, I was measuring him at the peak of my groanfest alongside other players in the team. During the period 2013-2016 he stood out as it seemed it was so often him who would misplace a pass (into the crowd !) or breakdown an attacking move.
I do think actually his passing may have got better, but when I see Shinnie and Davies pass perhaps I just think he ain’t so bad now ?
That all said, I think the guy is great. To come back from 3 injuries and perform like he does wholeheartedly takes supreme mental strength. He also always gives full effort and seems to genuinely care for the club. He is one player who deserves a testimonial I would think, although hats off to the Club for supporting him throughout. If he has his testimonial away to Portsmouth I will definitely go.

I think Fozzy is a confidence player a few mistakes and groans early on seem to affect him more than most but I’m glad to see him playing well and getting recognition from our fans he’s been a very good servant to Derby over the years and rarely gets the run around from wingers.

It's good that past critics are starting to appreciate him. I've always felt that the main criticisms have been exaggerated, and sometimes people have doubled-down on them to save face. I don't understand that attitude. Now, with so many young left-sided defenders coming through, there's allot that he can pass on to them about playing at this level.
He's always struck me as a decent bloke too.

Been a great servant to Derby, think the fact that we’ve had so many managers and he seems to be played by all of them shows his character. Fought back from a few serious injuries and still plays just Aswell, yes he has a mistake in him but so does everyone in the championship that’s why he’s a championship player

Always liked Fozzy and as some have said, his experience is invaluable for us this season. He is now our Mr Derby County. He's seen a hell of a lot of change at the club in the time he's been here, suffered with some terrible injuries but has always been fit/focussed enough to bounce back.
Definitely needs his own song, this season more than any other.

Assuming the club are smart, and will send ST cards with the same address in one go, its still probably circa 8k in postage. If they are not smart and go card by card, its 16k in cost. Right now, that's a lot of money and time.
They should ask fans to collect their cards (up to a date), and in return, say you'd sell an additional ticket for half price to the next game as a reward.
I'd pick up my season ticket just out of good will.

I hope he was wrong too and not meaning to shoot the messenger but, why would the father of an ex player know enough about the financial situation to question what the administrator is saying publicly? I doubt even the current players know a great deal more than most.
