I was a manager with some success during most of my working life
I learned early that the way to the objective was team work, any or all part of that team was heralded at some point, each person playing their part, large or small, but all of it orchestrated by the manager.
The eventual goal being reached by the group, was the indicator of a good manager, so I will say we have a good manager.
We have much further to go to reach the promised land of milk and honey, and I would expect that most would give a grudging acceptance that Mr Warne should have the opportunity to take us to the next level.
He may choose not to accept the challenges ahead and decide to step down.
He may feel the challenge too much, and decide that he can maintain his kudos at a lower level and should that be the case, I would heartily thank him for his hard work in getting us out of the millpond of Division 1.
I personally think he will have much still to offer in a higher setting, and should he decide that the timing is right and wishes to uptake the stark challenges ahead, I for one would whole heartedly support that initiative.
I like his whole club mentality and generally as a person he comes over as genuine,  and that will always be a key issue for this old fan, he cares.
So to close, Mr Warne because of you leadership and moral code, I will accept your decision either way, but if you stay you will definitely have the support of this old RAM.

Derby 2 Birmingham 2 was a great game, just as we were on the brink of going under.

I remember the atmosphere at Pride Park being immense. Was my son's first Derby game too.

Photographer here, captured some photos on my film camera of your promotion day on Saturday. Absolutely loved it, unbelievable atmosphere. It's only letting me upload two in my post on here. But the rest are on my instagram page here: https://www.instagram.com/p/C6WiJSZIpRq/?img_index=1

I remember someone, maybe Graham Richards or Gerald Mortimer, on the radio saying something like he saw Kevin Hector walking down the corridor, injured, in the afternoon and thought there's no way he could play in the game. But he did play, and he was brilliant 🐏

You've got to ask yourself why Paul Warne and his team came to Derby, when he could have probably stayed at Rotherham, kept them up a season, probably come back down second season, re-grouped and gone up again.
A job for life. Safe and steady.
Him and his team came because they have ambition. They want to have a go at taking a club further than they'll ever take Rotherham.
It was a calculated risk, hence negotiating a four year deal. They've delivered the first part of their plan and will be determined to deliver more. I think that's why his response to promotion has been muted, to say the least.
He's partway through the job and I don't think he's expecting an extension. But he and his team have shown good learning over the course of the season.
Let's see how they do in the Championship first. I think they've earned at least another season.

B4 is ours, and we will always hold him close to our hearts.
But when you see the sheer numbers of names on the Rams remembered tribute at Pride Park twice a season, you see the scope of Derby County fans who die each season.
They are each and every one of them someone else's B4.

I was at the game and loved every minute from hitting the Neptune at 0930 and leaving the Brunny about 2030 en route to my hotel where I had another couple before hitting the hay, having been up since 0300.
I've just watched the full 90 plus all the shenanigans on the pitch afterwards. Congratulations, Owen. You didn't melt. You stayed very professional and did a sterling job. Your voice was so chock full of emotion, you could have been forgiven for having a meltdown but you soldiered on. Like a true Ram, fighting till the end. Thank you for your coverage, not just from last Saturday but also from the other 38 games where this expat watched and listened to #RamsTV just outside of Amsterdam. Already looking forward to next season's offerings and hoping I can, again, get over for around 8 of the games.
    Ewe Rams!

I didn't want to start a new thread but we lost another special fan last night. For those who know of Colin Attenborough, or remember a few months ago a message Paul Warne did for him (link below), he passed away peacefully in his sleep last night. I knew Colin by playing Poker with him - a great guy - passionate about the team - and I'm happy he was able to be with us until the promotion was secured.
    RIP Colin.

I find some of this debate a bit demeaning to PW. This is the guy who negotiated himself a 4 year contract with a very clever business man! He then took over the football at a club that was almost dead, with very limited resource and in 2 seasons got us up.
Look at that record as an unbiased outsider and you see a very sharp cookie.
I'm sure if he wants an extension he will know just when to ask, equally DC will offer one when the time is right.

A contract extension right now would come out of pure sentimental reaction to what happened at the weekend. There's no other reason for it.
I don't think DC is the type to do that. Quite rightly IMO.

Surely there's no rush to consider Warne's contract, there's enough length to give both sides comfort.
Much as actually achieving promotion has put to he'd a lot,I know some have a valid question about Paul Warne in the championship. I feel like if that gets answered positively (in so far as results in line budgets and expectations from the board) then it comes down to what PW wants to do as it's clear Clowes is bought into PW for all sorts of reasons beyond the bare results.

Think your right, BBC radio derby seemed to think he had an extension clause in his contract also.
Decent fringe player to have as he works hard and plays left or right wing or wing back.
