"Martin" Roper, Alf, but yes, I'd heard he was re-opening it as more of a "wet" pub (i.e no meals as such, just snacks) because the Devonshire was so popular.
Yep memory loss
The Dev is more of a restaurant, We moved in there when the Rifleman shut, But getting a table was a pain, So used outside...in winter 🥶
Then moved onto the Railway on Kings St
They've done a very good job of the decor, And yes...only snacks...ie cheese board, Bowls of chips n the like

The Rifleman in Belper. It has been a few years since I was in there.
Opened again last Saturday after being closed since August, The owners are the same people that own the Exeter, The Silk Mill and the Devonshire, Mark Roper who was in the band Anti Pasti is one of the owners, My Daughter knows him.

Everyone stay in their seats...if we're promoted(of course)Carlisle players go over to their supporters, DCFC players congregate around the tunnel then let Carlisle leave the field of play, DCFC players applaud all fans with a "lap of runners up honour" then go into the centre circle and start the bounce.
The word "invasion" is what it is, There's people who want to see the players do the above, With an "invasion" players will not be allowed to come out until the pitch is cleared...by this time lots of fans have left the stadium to go and get pissed or home to hug their partner.
KEEP OFF THE FCUCKING PITCH
PS...I'll be in the Rifleman(Belper)watching on my Sky Go App 👍

FA Cup replays scrapped: The Football Association says 'all parties accepted' decision
Body of text
The EFL has urged the FA to "re-evaluate their approach", stating there was "no agreement" prior to the deal being announced and no "formal consultation".
My take on it is, It was mooted with the EFL some time ago...but no agreement, FA/EPL then go ahead and confirm "no replays" this was "accepted" with the EFL in earlier talks 😁
In reality, The FA and EPL know that those at the EFL have no real power and are a lame duck...so go ahead with the announcement as "all agreed"
The sooner we have a regulated body the better...one hopes 😉

Playing devil's advocate here, do we know that the FA didn't consult with the EFL clubs directly and get their views on replays in the 1st and 2nd rounds? I would have thought that most clubs would see replays in the first and second rounds as an expensive inconvenience.

I saw Liz Truss at Heathrow Airport a few weeks ago. She was going mad because none of the airlines would sell her a ticket.
They didn't want her anywhere near Business or Economy.
Her father was asked to leave a bank last week for not having enough funds in his account, It's a pity he didn't withdraw some 49 years ago

Imagine what that grassy bank behind the ground would look like if we were playing Northampton instead of Cambridge tomorrow? It would be a site for sore eyes,

If there's anyone else out there that can help myself and a friend who wouldn't mind swapping seats for 2 tickets for the Carlisle game, we can meet at the Clough/Taylor statue...If you can here's my 2 seats.

If Everton was a horse...you'd shoot it, If Everton was a car you'd send it to Albert Looms...crazy situation to be in 😬

Some of the responses to the Forest begging bowl are fabulous 😂
😁
"Nice sentiment but I think you urinated on your own chips at the City Ground in December when you had the perfect opportunity to show some solidarity with Everton’s plight.
It was pretty clear that Forest would be in breach but your fans chose to try and demonise our club and fans…you reap what you sow""Hope youse get relegated regardless, you horrible cheats"
"Thatcher loving scabs"
"Let’s not forget that these cheeky bar stewards wanted to sue us last season along with Burnley,Leeds,Leicester and Southampton.
Where was the solidarity then?""You cheating ba**ards"
"If there is one match I am looking forward to as an Everton fan this season - and there isn't - it would have to be the Goodison welcoming of Nottingham Forest. Oh, I think I'd enjoy a 5-0 shellacking of Forest even more than a Merseyside derby victory"

I found this thread on page 2, which I guess is a fair indicator of how the war sits in the consciousness of people at the moment. But hang on folks! I get a sense that, with Russia resurgent thanks largely to its support from China and Iran in the provision of weapons, Putin "could" soon turn his attention to a former Soviet state with a population opposed to its government seeking to introduce a "Russian-style" agent-of-foreign influence law. The parallels with Ukraine 2014 are uncomfortably close, and the comments of the Kremlin spokesman in this article have a familiar ring to them. Look out for social media posts alleging oppression of Russian minorities in Georgia in due course. I hope I'm just being paranoid.
This is only going to end one way I'm afraid Crewton, Oppress the masses and you'll get conflict, Will Turkey be happy with an influential Russian Country as a next door neighbour 🙄
I see Erdogan lost his 1st local elections a couple of weeks ago, It's a volatile place in that neck of the woods 😮

Look again. They're way higher than the main stand and Popside roof. You could still be right about the date though as both double-decker stands were in place from 1935 onwards. Floodlights didn't arrive until 1953.

dont know if someone has mentioned it , but the hardest geezer finished his run of the length of Africa other week. The finish line was ruined cause of some moron waving a Palestinian flag in his face during the finish.
And a couple of people ushered away wanting their picture taken in London with the Kings Guard on horseback while holding a Palestinian flag...Armed Police soon put a stop to it, Picture never got taken.

Do you not think you're driving yourself insane here?
The fact is the league is the result of 48 games, lasting 90mins over the course of nearly a year, playing home and away, with the same rules every time.

True, but he failed to get them up last season and has had a few seasons now to build his own squad.
They'd still be daft to sack him though.
Ian Evatt Bolton manager since July 2020
Played 221, Won 112, Drawn 50, Lost 59
If he doesn't get them up this year do you give him another season?, Is 4 years enough when being able to buy players, PW has a 4 year contract, In year 2 he's got 1 foot in the door and can see that the Championship light is on while working under an embargo.

Not sure what your evidence is but I hope you trust mine as I've worked a bit on this.
After 46 games the average percentage of lucky/unlucky games net for a team is precisely 9%. The maximum is over 20% -hard to believe I know. This is based on the standard +2 clear chances aggregate worthy of a win.
The average discrepancy to the chances/goal average is 0.35, the maximum over 1. These can all be positive or negative.
You understand what the above mean in terms of points, goals and league positions at the end of a season.
I fcuking give up...hello is that the Samaritans

Less than two years ago we had about 6 players, no academy, no manager and had to play pre-season in temporary shirts because we didn’t even have kits. We were also put under restrictions, which still haven’t run out yet. So yes, I think getting automatic promotion in this timeframe is an achievement. A very good one, actually.
End of season celebrations.
