kevinhectoring got a reaction from Premier ram in Derby County v Port Vale - The Matchday Thread
On the subject of linesmen, and the massive offside missed just before their first goal : The lino below the east stand had the sun in his face and was running the line trying to shield his eyes with one hand. He looked like a sailor on lookout in a gender fluid farce. The PV right wing was about 4 yards offside.
Why would linesmen not be issued with baseball caps so that they have a chance of doing their job when this happens? And if they don’t have one, why wouldn’t they just ask someone - anyone - for one ?

kevinhectoring got a reaction from Premier ram in Warne isn't the Messiah and Stearman is a very Naughty Boy
We did sort of play the game PV wanted us to though.
Warne probably knows it already: Rotherham fans were elated every time he got them out of this division. Most derby fans simply expect it

Hourihane thinks his job is to take free kicks and corners and to show the odd moment of brilliance if someone gets the ball to him in space. Otherwise he slows up play (we were transitioning better and more quickly today especially in the first half, until the ball got to him) and saunters around. We started with 10.5 and ended with 9.5 players. Doesn’t work

6 swings and everyone a miss, The draft from the swings floored Hunter ?

The fact that a PV defender who was 5 yards away rushed to the ‘victim’s’ defence and shoved Collins backwards supports your view. Would he do that if JC were slapping the ground in frustration ?

kevinhectoring got a reaction from DenmarkRam in Best way to get a taxi from London Stansted to Ipswich
There are good taxi firms in Ipswich who would do it for £100 maybe a little more (it’s about 50miles and takes 1 hour). I’ve found the taxi firms round there (I go to Woodbridge and Wickham Market quite often) friendly and reliable. Book, then call them the day before to check ! If your flight is late they’ll adjust. The local trains are OK but at the moment the strikes make everything less predictable. The rail via London suggestion is worth considering - it’s round the houses but those are two reliable and quick services. But you’ll be paying for Stanstead ——>London, London —-> Ipswich which with 3 of you might end up being more than the cost of a taxi. The UKtrainline site will tell you all about rail services. You can find the Ipswich cab firms on google

was a bit disappointed by Tommo - he looked so promising in late 2021. I think in a midfield mix involving more senior players he will do better - and he and Knight together in a midfield of 5 might provide good balance alongside the more senior players. Despite his lacklustre performance he was one of the players Warne singled out in his post match interview so would not be surprised to see more of him. He’s Warne’s sort of player

I’m actually coming up for this one. I’d decided I couldn’t afford it but my son offered to not only buy my ticket but to pay my train fare as well!
I must have got something right bringing him up!

Probably worth recounting a little gallows humour about Derby & England.
There was I, sitting at Wembley for the Euro 2020 final, just before the pennos. I randomly turn to the bloke next to me, to whom I’d not talked all match.
“Do you think we’ll win?” I asked. “No”, he said, sadly, “I support Derby and we always lose here”.
Instantly, I knew both of us, and England, were doomed.

kevinhectoring reacted to TomTom92 in Potential fixture clash with England last 16 world cup game
Think I'm in the minority here, if the match was a nations league game or qualifiers then Derby would get the nod but as its the world cup I've got to go for England. Although I acknowledge that I probably wouldn't be at pride park even if there wasn't a clash. I'd most probably be taking a vacation to Tokyo to watch the match via Rams tv.
Anyway if England don't top their group then they need burning at the stake so hopefully this scenario won't occur. However, if it does then the EFL needs to use some common sense and move our time/date.

Would dearly have loved to have been at this one but the train strike means I can’t get up from Bristol.
So please would those of you who will be there cheer a little louder for me???
