So so right. You can see the enjoyment in his whole body language. That last game was like kids at break time, yey let’s get out there and play. Another poster talked about him being the big kid in a class of little uns .. “give it to Didsy” .. and he wants it too.
I might be venturing in to hyperbole but there are breeds of sportsmen. The dedicated scientist and technician type, the snarling terrier type, the cocky and arrogant and then you get those who just love playing the game for the sheer unbridled fun of it. I get the feeling at this stage of his career McG is playing for joy. I hope he’s as happy here as I am with his style ability contribution and attitude.

Much in the same way a creative but wafty attacking midfield player might.

I’m a fan of Monet. Just trying to picture in what way his lilies ‘prance’. ?

Did just want to add that the ball Fozzie played through to Dobbin against PV (before D fluffed the chance) was one I doubt Fabregas could have managed on that pitch

And not only is he a magician up front, when he tracks back to defend he really defends. Doesn’t just impressionistically waft himself around the place like some others. We concede plenty of goals as a result of attacking minded players tracking back then prancing around like Monet’s water lilies

Yes with just a bit of luck he would have won us promotion and escaped the clutches of EFL and Gibson. But as a PL owner I fear he’d have made the same errors he made as a championship owner and we’d have come back down.

John Port I think. My mum taught the two of you. (Put years on her, she’s 87.) Her comments on MM are interesting

Where I worked non-binary toilets were proposed years ago and the women said: no way the men are just too smelly

I think this is disingenuous about Mel who is also a fan, I felt he was quite private (but that might be debated), had the best intentions of the club at heart and likely bled black and white (or hopefully blue and white with red numbers). He mainly failed because he was incredibly unluckly and was battling a rigged system. He also made some poor choices, but for much of the time I admired his personal sacrifice in the Arthurian quest to establish Derby as a Premier League club. If I recall, the guy is at least £120m poorer as a result.

So that’s amusing. One poster posts ‘attack, attack, attack’ under pictures of hurricanes and spitfires in action and someone else responds :
“err you do realise they made the engines in Derby ... “

He tends to start games with a more direct approach, then begin to mix it up with shorter balls. The squad does both pretty well. I think defenders find the mixing it up hard to deal with and we’re less vulnerable to a strong press than we were under Rooney and LR. (Not that there are many of those in this div). PV were fresher than us on Tuesday so we had less possession than we’d expect and as you mention the pitch just got worse and worse. I think he’s got us playing plenty of attractive football and he’s more or less getting the best out of the squad.

Players aside, the best thing about the Rooney team was Liam, oh and Rooney’s PR adviser. Look at the club’s culture now and think what it would have been like under Kirchner and Rooney, with Stretford pulling the strings. Lucky escape, Mike Ashley would have been preferable imho.
For many you mention I think the proud support for Rooney was mostly proud support for a club under siege. And looking back I think many see Rooney as an abysmal managerial appointment and near the top of the list of major misjudgements by Mel Morris
I’d far rather be in div 1 under Warne than in the championship under Rooney
