I've had covid and so have many people I know and care about. It was awful. My Uncle had it and died from it alone in hospital. I haven't been brainwashed into being scared or to overreact because it actually happened and myself and family have had to mourn the death of a loved one. Facts not media hype.

this is my view I am not getting into the tennis that was played in the first version.
I read that Sweden changed direction after the first wave because they recognised it was wrong
I read that brazil are in a terrible position because the leader is a denier.
I believe that wearing masks and applying other controls has saved many lives of those who required hospital treatment.

But the narrative that none of this is necessary doesn't make sense. Why would the UK government, the Chinese government, the collective European governments etc etc etc lie and cripple all their economies if they didn't believe that there was a serious public health risk? That's what I'm being expected to believe. And that the excess mortality figures around the world aren't real.
Why? Can anyone give me a reason that doesn't sound completely tinfoil hat territory?

Hat off to you Eddie with no backswipe at all. I’ve towed the line too but there has been the odd fuzzy edge. I’ll continue but like you it’s wearing me down. Thing is the world relies on 80% of us doing mostly what’s right because we have a brain and if it’s fair and sensible we muck in. The other 20% serve to irritate anger and amuse in equal measure. Que sera sera

It's a wave of acknowledgement, as opposed to smugness. I have played absolutely everything by the book, and even though I suspect that my eyesight is fading as badly as my hearing, I haven't driven to Barnard Castle once. I will also add that I've hated every minute of it.

Was at that game and sat on the other side of the cricket pitch, my old man got into an argument with a drunken Sheff U fan, who seeing our colours made out that we were the worst side he'd seen all season!!!
    Hmmm.

Really? I can't imagine a respectable far right party like Vox would operate in that way. If you can't trust the far right, who can you trust?
Good news about Alonso though. I hope he turns out to be ultra woke. Will be interesting to see people who were happy to ignore any dangerous political views he may have, then lose their heads if he does/says anything they deem unacceptable.

(these are just my thoughts on the matter, which aren't worth any more than anyone else's - i'm not looking to start a political debate on a Derby fans forum!).
I studied a bit about Vox at Uni a few years ago. Obviously, i'm not an expert on Spanish politics, but I can say that his association with them does concern me, and I do think some things are bigger than football. There isn't really an exact UK equivalent - their views are far more extreme than UKIP but they aren't proponents of fascism like the NF or BNP.
A quick skim of the internet revealed that their leader called for another Reconquista of the Muslim population in Spain in 2019 - for anyone who knows their Spanish history, this is pretty awful.
I've seen some people point out that there wasn't this much outrage over the Shiekh, which is fair, but I would say this is slightly different in that we know for a fact how Alonso has been involved politically. The Shiekh's history was as unclear as his takeover attempt was.
I've also seen a few 'keep politics out of football', or 'its not his politics that matters' posts. I respect that for some, it is simple to separate the morality of happenings around football from the sport itself. But for me, and presumably others, it isnt that simple and these things matter. The club represents the fans and the city, meaning that in a way the owner does too.
The sad thing is, it really doesn't matter if we are concerned or not. This appears to be going ahead and that's that. All we can hope is that he keeps whatever views he has out of Derby.

Considering Vox run on outright anti-Islam platforms and we have players and fans who are Muslim or have families that are Muslim, It becomes a bit of a problem imo.

Sidestepping the politics, this is what I've been drinking tonight...

The Fort Lapin Quad is much more complex than Barista Chocolate Quad. Sometimes, though, complexity isn't everything. Don't get me wrong - it's nice, but I would rank it a distant third on tonight's menu behind the Westmalle Dubbel (unquestionably world class) and the Duvel Citra, which is pretty damned outstanding too.

Haha, just had a flashback to a bit of a fracas outside Smethwick mosque that day before the match....small group of Derby and West Brom having a brawl whilst being observed by a few of the mosque faithful. It all seems a bit surreal now wondering what they were thinking watching a dozen drunk English gentlemen in broad daylight squaring up at the foot of the mosque steps.

I was also there for the Div 3 days and it was fun at the time. This time though, if we do go down, I can't see us anywhere near a shoe in for promotion or the play offs.

2 points from a possible 18 in March. 1 win in 9 now too.
Some of us did say the run in would be tough.
I am looking at Luton, Birmingham and Wednesday at home. I think much if not all of it will boil down to those games.
Honestly if we can’t win those games and stay up, then we will totally deserve League 1 football.
