This is 100% right. We shouldn’t be giving him more time just because he’s already here and he’s had a bit of a crap hand dealt.
Countless managers move to worse situations and do better than he has done. Just look at the likes of Lee Bowyer... Birmingham were hopeless and certainly heading down until he turned up with not that many games to go. That’s just one example.
Rooney knew the players before taking over full time. There is zero excuse, despite what he says, for not imparting a style of play. He changes formation, tactical advice and personnel every single game and expects continuity some how. His subs are terrible and he doesn’t seem to motivate, let alone harness anything other than mental fragility.
It’s not hyperbole when I say I think he’s the worst manager I’ve seen here in my 25 years supporting this club.

It was inevitable. I get the feeling there are many who want Rooney's vanity project to continue who wouldn't if he was someone else with the same qualifications/record.
They're dazzled by the celebrity, and Rooney succeeding is more important than the club succeeding.

The one thing I don’t understand with Mel now, and I’ve always been a Mel apologist believing he has made honest mistakes in pursuit of what’s best for the club as an owner and fan... why are we messing around with fake Sheikhs and Spanish Del Boys? There’s a ridiculous amount of red flags with both of these, so how could he consider this as a supporter of the club and claiming he would sell for a quid if it was what was best for the club?
Can blame the pandemic or whatever, but he’s been open about investment or sale for multiple years now. So, my conclusion which could be way way off admittedly, is that he must be demanding too much money for the club given the debt to attract anyone that isn’t completely dodgy.

Yes, but this was in the Premier League. So why would it be relevant to his suitability for us?
Are we in the Premier League? No, we are not.
Do we appoint managers based on their most recent season’s work and that alone? No, we don’t.
Wilder did a poor job with Sheffield United this season, no-one would suggest otherwise. But it was his fantastic work that got them in that position to ‘fail’ in the first place.
We would be appointing him on the strength of two strong finishes in the Championship and a good overall career record.
A fair crack of the whip? Say what you will about the state of the club, but Rooney got this job before he was even qualified to do so.
On those grounds alone, I think he has had more than a fair crack at the whip.

I don't understand people now changing their minds and wanting Rooney to stay. We narrowly scraped a draw against a team also at the bottom of the table. And only really stayed up because Sheff Wed started the season on -6 points & Rotherham had a huge fixture pile up which they couldn't cope with physically. It's something like one win in 15 games for us now, that's a third of a season! Terrible tactics, no style of play other than try to copy your opponent, massively questionable substitutions. He's been in charge nearly 40 games and there has been no progression since game one(minus Bielik's help).
I'm all for giving a manager time, but it has to be the right one. Rooney has a worse record than Cocu, despite having better players available when they came back from their injuries. I would consider giving him more time due to the off field problems if there had at least been some signs of promise, or moments where he made me think he knows what's he's doing, but there honestly haven't been any.
In my opinion we need someone in charge who is more of a coach, someone who can get the best out of the players and develop an attacking style of play. We should be focusing on ourselves much more than the opposition and tactically we should be thinking how do we score goals, not how do we stop them scoring. The whole mentality from the "coaching team" is just not right. How do you expect to win and achieve things with such a negative outlook.
    Anyway, rant over.?

This is the one of all the deadline day 5 I really wanted. It was a position of need, and we certainly need that bit of creativity to help Jozwiak and Lawrence (which fit). This should help us no end.
