I remember at the BBG in the 70’s when they would shout Heanor , Heanor and the pop side would respond Sharples Sharples. For the more “mature “ supporters ?

I’m massively impressed by how he spoke during the presser, sounds likeable, relatable, open and honest. Spoke in realistic and pragmatic terms about the club, the squad and the league, especially pleased to hear him address some of the public concerns raised around playing style (“when you have footballers you play football, athletes you play to their strengths, we’ve got footballers who will soon realise how good they are as athletes too” a bit paraphrased there ?) and his post match comments when we stayed up (it was an emotional moment for him as his mate was relegated).
I also admire his honesty about the Rosenior situation, more realism in that he acknowledged LR’s good work and talent but that it would have been unworkable for him to stay on the staff.
Most impressive for me though, was the conviction with which he spoke, he knows himself well, knows his team of staff and believes in what he has to say. There were times when LR spoke and said the right things, being so likeable I wanted to believe him, but the conviction was missing in his voice. Warne has that conviction which will hopefully help him succeed with the Rams. Interesting times ?

After 9 league games so far we are. With a completely brand new bunch of players its about as good as it gets.
Hopefully Warne can continue it and hopefully gradually improve, which is what we thought might happen with Rosenoir.
We have no right to go up this year (see Sheffy Wendy, Ipswich, Sunderland) so lets be patient, get behind the players and manager and sing louder when we are struggling in games.

Everyone has to start somewhere. He has only managed at Rotherham, fine. That doesn't mean he can't do it elsewhere. Is there risk? Yes, but even appointments lauded by everyone on here such as Cocu were risky.
Does he have a limiting style of play, or has he never had the facilities to play another way? Tell me, how much how you watched of his teams? Or are you just generalising?
We're not in a position to be arrogant. First and foremost, we need to get out of League One. Worry about the Championship if we get there. If he's the wrong man if we reach the Championship, we can roll the dice. But we aren't.
It's massively funny that you dismiss Warne for only experiencing success in one place and saying he lacks pedigree, and yet vouch for Rosenior in the same post. Rosenior is a far bigger risk, in my opinion.
I really think as a fan base we need to give Warne a fair chance.

Heartfelt thank you to you Liam. The way you helped bring the club together and your work bringing in so many quality players in a short space of time will not go forgotten. Disappointing and sudden end but you'll always be welcome back at Derby.

Just to let anyone who’s interested know I had a fantastic time yesterday! What I hadn’t realised was that my son’s friend’s company were match sponsors so we got lots of official photos taken. ( I did say to the sponsor after the first 20 minutes I was glad he was paying not me !)
Great that we won with 2 well taken goals. With lots of steps to go up and down and so many people around I was shattered when I got home and slept for almost 11 hours last night!
Have just realised I’ll need to start the thread for the next game as we won - someone may need to remind me as it’s so long until then!

Re Time wasting. Yes there’s the times when they all forget who is supposed to take a throw in, times where a foul is committed and they kick the ball away etc. but one of the worst occasions yesterday was their keeper feigning some sort of injury to his foot and getting their physio on when the pressure was properly building. He then proceed to clear from a goal kick by belting the ball with the same foot that needed physio moments earlier.

    That is just plain cheating.

That Ronaldo pose apart, I thought Mehmeti was exactly the player I hoped Kamil would be for us.  Put him a team that didn't have ten Neanderthals and he would be class.

Yes, you are allowed to say that. Knight played averagely in the sense of skilled passing, creating chances etc but his hardworking stopped them from getting at us. I thought Knighty was superb today by constantly being involved, chasing them down and covering across the midfield and protecting the back four.
    He put a shift in.
When he's average, he's still the best player in this division..

No it didn't. The game changed when the team woke up after 20 minutes of play, and started passing to each other.
FYI, 14 shots with Bird on the field (xG of 1.2) 12 shots with Bird off the field (xG 0.7)

Even if you take away any of the events of the last 18 months, Wycombe fully deserved to lose that game as soon as their goalscorer did the Ronaldo celebration.
Mate, pathetic. 9 year olds copying it in the playground? Fair enough. A professional footballer copying it? Straight red.

Given what they wanted to do to us, and the songs that they promised to sing to celebrate our demise, I think it's important that we just take the win and not gloat.

    But it's quite difficult....

THAT FIRST ONE IS FOR YOU, MA'AM! A minute's applause, the anthem, GOAL!!! Superb!
Yet again, Liam got his tactics wrong from the start. None of us had any idea from the team sheet how we were going to line up, so Wycombe were going to have no idea at all what they were going to face. But it actually didn't matter - Wycombe, as is their way, said a very clear "Stuff you" and just got on with their game, so those tactics didn't work! And no, the lump in my cheek is my tongue, not cancer!
As everyone has said we were dreadful in the opening 20 - 25 minutes, with one possible cause being a new system which we hadn't had much time to work on. But at least Liam tried something different, despite telling us he wasn't changing anything. But the biggest factor, as against Lincoln, was the lack of effort from many of the players. Twice, a pass out to the wing, although not good ones, were there to be chased down by Hourihane and he would have been absolutely clear, but both times he settled back to a trot and let the ball go. Apart from his goals, I was not impressed, and he was probably a greater candidate than Bird for being subbed. The only players worth their salt in that half were Knight (as ever), Sibley and Cashin. They were the only ones who seemed to give a damn.
There was a massive irony that Wycombe accused us of cheating, when that seemed to be a part of their game plan from the first minute. Time wasting from the 15th minute, kicking the ball away at every opportunity, feigning injury as soon as we were breaking away, and several less than regulation challenges. Barkhuisen got cleaned out with a studs up challenge early on which was at least a definite yellow, but no card given. Either Bird or Hourihane was fouled as he was breaking clear, which the ref did give, which was another blatant yellow. But 3 different players kicked and ran the ball away, so the ref chased them, obviously to threaten them that he would frown at them if they carried on. And no yellow for the foul, despite being only too willing to card Hourihane for  similar foul. Similarly for a clattering on Sibley - the ref played the advantage, but still didn't give the yellow. Very poor, and until the last part of the match, the only Wycombe yellow was for time wasting. Incidentally, there was contact when Sibley went down in the area, but Sibbers made a meal of it - probably noting that Lincoln got a penalty for only slightly less of a dive. But he ought to know that we hardly get any penalties, let alone soft ones.
But something got our dander up and we started to make the new formation start to work and we gradually started to take control, with several spells of pressure - once we started to attack their penalty area, they didn't know how to deal with it, resulting in the bagatelle scene, and several other shots. What saved them was their desire to win the ball, which meant a number of blocks and last ditch tackles. But we were knocking on the door. We could have gone in at half time 2 or 3 goals ahead, especially if McGoldrick had got his shooting boot on. He is really classy and elegant in the build up play, but apart from a lack or power, all his shots were straight at the keeper. Come on David, you can do better.
Second half saw us work up to knocking on the door again, especially after the substitutions - well done, Liam for those! And a goal was only a matter of time, and it was a delight to watch that shot which I knew was going in way before it did! The second goal was an absolute delight, because it took all 3 points off the team that, as someone said early on in the thread, were trying to grave rob us while we were still on our death bed! Sweet!
So we beat the scummy Wycombe, and made a load of places on the Red Dogs (a bit tenuous, that last bit!).
    COME ON YOU RAMS!
