Frightening stat but from my POV the premier league isn’t really an entity. It’s the first tier of English football, you can change its name but bottom line is … it’s the First Division.. so a more accurate statement would be An English manager hasn’t won it since 1992. ( pedantry is an art form 🤪)
Apart from creating a huge imbalance between Div 1 and Div2 I struggle to see what the PL has achieved in purely sporting terms.

It was exhilarating, and at times immensely frustrating, watching the stop-start nature of the rain-interrupted game, but goodness me, how wonderful in the end to see the bread-stealers evicted.
Rashid Khan has the air of invincibility about him. He strode to the wicket with Afghanistan in desperate trouble at 93-5 with just two overs and two balls remaining. He faced 10 of the remaining 14 deliveries and smashed three of his side's paltry total of just four maximums. 115-5 at the close.
Bangladesh therefore needed 116 to win in 73 deliveries to go through to the semis and send the Aussies home, and with Litton Das smashing the ball to all parts while wickets fell at the other end to Naveen-Ul-Haq during the powerplay, it was definitely on. Enter Rashid again as the powerplay drew to a close, this time with ball in hand. It took just three deliveries to bag his first scalp.
Four mesmerising Rashid overs later, and the Bangladesh run chase was in tatters with three more in the hutch, all courtesy of the world's finest T20 twirly, but it still looked as though they would limp home to win the game and give Australia a lifeline. Rain came and went, and they oscillated around the D/L par score - a run ahead, a couple behind....
Enter the quicks again. First Gulbadin Naib enticed Tanzim into a cross-batted hoik - a leading edge and Nabi gleefully accepted the skier at cover. A couple of overs later, Litton Das had eked out a few more precious runs and completed his half-century.
An exchange of singles at the start of the 18th over then - DROPPED! A tough return chance offered by Litton Das was declined by Naveen. The single brought Taskin back on strike, only for him to chop on. Then.... you've guessed it - rain again as the last man, Mustafizur, walked out to the crease. Mercifully, there was barely time to bring the lightest sheet on - and off - before Naveen was charging in again.
A prod, a miss, the thwack of leather on pad brought the appeal, followed by the inevitable finger of death. It was as plumb as pudding. Cue pandemonium as half of Afghanistan invaded Kingston. Afghanistan had basically knocked both Bangladesh and Australia out of the T20 World Cup.
Spare a thought for Litton Das - not many people carry their bat in the 'Electric rounders' form of the game. He batted beautifully, finishing unbeaten with 54 to his name. Rashid Khan, almost inexplicably, was not 'player of the match'. That honour went to Naveen-Ul-Haq, and I could get to bed.

Century for Luis Reece. A hundred partnership between Reece and Madsen, then a 50 partnership between Reece and Lamb. Donald now in with Reece.
240-4, still 193 behind.

If this really is the new shirt then it’s a massive disappointment - way too much going on on the sleeves, collar and sides.

Derby 4 Real Madrid 1. What a night that was. More recently I’d say deforestation day was pretty a perfect day to be a Derby fan, and watching all the forest coaches passing by full of glum faces was excellent 😃
