To leave Derby County in the state it’s in is criminal. The bloke should be put in stocks by the Clough and Taylor statue and people should be able to throw tomatoes at him for a quid a shot until all the debts are paid off.

The blokes a twit for what he has done to our club. That he will carry for ever.
I would rather be able to be called a Derby Fan and be respected by fellow fans than any CBE could give me. I think his exclusion into the wilderness is sufficient enough for me. Let him sit at home counting his millions and polishing his CBE while we support the Rams.

I could agree with the statement….. but considering this is the first Mel negative post I’ve made, I felt it was time to vent my frustration with him in writing.

If you were able to vent about Mel when it was fresh and trendy, then I tip my hat to you sir!

I get what you're saying but I honestly don't think him doing the right thing will be influenced by what we think of him.
If it does, we're screwed any way.
His legacy is mud if he does the right thing. He'll be hounded out of town if he refuses to on the basis that the fans were nasty after he dumped us into administration and ruled over the empire when the 21 point penalty was racked up.

Totally agree with your sentiments by the way.

    You've lost me there.
As long as it's not libellous and not breaching rules about personal attacks, I don't mind posts that say exactly what people feel about the actions of Mel. I doubt many people are pleased with our position. I hold him responsible for at least 12 of those points. I still don't see why he couldn't have brought down the wage bill, ridden out the covid restrictions, paid our debts and given back the ground. It would have cost him an absolute fortune but that's the results of the gambles he's put in place - gambles which nobody forced him to take. To walk away unscathed is highly dishonourable, in my opinion.

By my quick reckoning, we owe circa £65m to external creditors.
    Main ones being:-
    HMRC £26m
    MSD £20m
    Transfer fees £8m
Reading the document on my phone so please feel free to correct if I hav mis-read anything there.
When you consider that at 30 June 2018 we were actually owed £80m, have had 2 years of income since then Id estimate at £50m, had imcoming transfer fees of maybe £20m, it really does show how badly MM let the expenditure get out of control.
I'm afraid the excuse about Covid causing our situation looks weaker by the day.

Totally agree. Whoever comes in needs to bring on new advisors and clear out anyone from the current advisors. Something within the club turns good players into poor players (Johnson, Butterfield ). That needs sorting. The whole scouting system needs removing and replacing with the manager involved in who comes in. Not clear how much influence most managers were involved previously but they need to be involved

What about spending the entire 90 minutes doing something a little more constructive like getting behind the team and Rooney ? They are innocent in this debacle like us the fans, ok they get paid and they are just doing a job but a lot of the younger lads are having their futures put into doubt, players like Bird and Knight are going to find it very hard to get international call ups in division 1, and the EFL are applying the rules that we were supposed to adhere to, the fault with this lies entirely at the door of MM wherever that is nowdays !

He's hoovered up and regurgitated any lingering good faith I harboured. My thoughts on the EFL are well documented, but Mel had no business placing the club in administration. It makes me sad really as I do believe he started out with the best intentions, but he'll now only be remembered as a man whose word meant less than nothing.
He still has one last opportunity to 'do the right thing' but I doubt he will as he's smart enough to know that his legacy is now set in stone and no 'good deeds' will change that. The thing that angers me most is that in the process of undermining all of the remedial work undertaken by Clough Jr and his years of 'austerity' and hard graft, he's also inadvertently set fans at each others' throats. That's unforgiveable in my book. The fact that we now know he could quite simply have accepted a 9 point sanction rather than enter into admin will never be forgiven by some and even I can't find a way to defend that.

IF we can ignore the semantics around the phrase bad faith for a moment the question for me is why did we make an intentional decision to apply a method of amortisation of players values which was at total variance to the majority of the other clubs in our division.
And the answer isn't because the EFL said we could - taking one step back why did we seek to apply a different accounting method if it wasn't to lever some kind of advantage over our peers.
