Warne must be fuming with the manager of the club that decided not to sell late on. It stopped him having a chance of arranging something else.
Be ironic if it was Rosenoir

0% chance with the other clubs interested
What's the point of starting a transfer rumour then in the same breadth totally writing it off happening.

I think its about time mods starting dealing with all these stupid and toxic comments. Its ruining the forum which has always had a good atmosphere. Its become toxic now because of the anti Warne and anti club agenda a vocal minority have.
Personally I find it funny that's why I haven't blocked any of the serial offenders - I would miss my daily dose of amusement reading their posts, it's the gift that keeps on giving

I think Warne’s update this afternoon also to some degree validates Big Trav’s credentials as an ITK (for those who feel it needs validating personally I appreciate the info he posts). He was on here yesterday mentioning a medical pencilled in for a name (that wasn’t Lee Gregory or Michael Smith), clearly we did have someone the club had kept under wraps lined up and it didn’t happen. Maybe one day BT will reveal the player 😉. Keep on posting what you know and what you can BT.

Oh dear.
Initials not acronyms.
I thought you'd enjoy a tedious debate. You've made this one tedious already
I can't even do that as I haven't the foggiest who you are talking about

Too many acronyms so hard to comment at all
Then we can get into the tedious debate of what you define as successful yada yada

One fit centre forward for the next month is pretty shambolic though, is it not?
Let's play the blame game then - who have you got in the frame for this?

I understand the disappointment everyone is feeling, and am sorry to be a pedant here, but Clowes didn’t say we had a top 2 budget. He said we have a very good budget, one that he “thinks” is good enough for promotion (which could still happen remember).
In fact the exact quote is;
"Paul has been given a budget, I think a good budget for League One that is good enough to get us out of the league. But it's football and nothing is guaranteed."
The effective use of that budget will be an ongoing conversation until, and probably beyond, the season’s end.Quote taken from here;
At what point do you think Clowes has regretted making that statement.
Bet he will be a bit less candid when questioned about the same subject in the future.

There’s nothing hysterical about being furious that the club has failed to sign a player in a position that was deemed the biggest priority before the window began. It’s pathetic from all involved. Not the first time it’s happened either.
Name names then as obviously you have more of an insider knowledge then the average fan - who are "all involved"

And there it is, exactly as I predicted. What a shambolic club we are.
The only predictable thing was the hysterics from the usual suspects
-
Does this mean he has zero confidence in us getting promoted this season
-
Has anyone considered that he's being loaned back to us for the remainder of the season as we won't be getting anyone else into the club this transfer window?

To be fair, the injury which kept him out for all of last season was afreak accident "never seen before in football" and doesn't seem to be a problem which could reocurr. He's been releatively free from injuries throughout his career.
If his performances at Forest Green are anything to go by, he'll be the 'midfield enforcer' many people crave. He also had a good attacking output for a DM when playing for them. Much better than what you'd expect from Fornah and Smith.

That's kind of what I was getting at. The way it was framed at the time was open to interpretation and football fans being football fans (a good chunk of them anyway) were going to see it one way. I just think the club could have been a bit more careful that's all. If it was clear we'd be fishing for loans and freebies and still unable to pay fees we could have adjusted our expectations accordingly.
I agree it's bordering on being disingenuous.
All this talk about a pot of money for this but another pot of money for that is just really annoying quite frankly.
I don't see the issue with saying we are skint as it's not like the converse when other clubs know we have stacks of cash so would try and shaft us on transfer fees.
Don't understand the big secret.

I think my main issue with the way the club are now blaming restrictions is that in the summer they said that we were free from restrictions and would be monitored against a business plan.
What is the difference between operating under restrictions and operating under a plan designed to keep within restrictions?
I think the club have put themselves in a daft position here by not being clear on the comms with the fans.
Between the message the club put out in the summer and Warne saying he wanted to add to the squad in Jan I don't think the fans can be blamed for expecting more.
I know it seems like semantics but isn't one where the restriction is being imposed by a third party and the other is the club imposing the restriction on itself?

4th or 5th
Which immediately will be an issue for some of our supporters.
Playoffs then who knows.

Without selling Cashin or Bird, we have nothing in the pot for permanent signings. We know that.
We’re left with loan options only, where many of the better players available on loan will already be out at clubs.
Unless we’re able to structure a deal with a club like the CBT one where a contract is expiring, we’re left scraping the barrel.
That’s the situation.
Gregory would not be an exciting signing, he will not sell extra tickets, nor is he Warne’s first choice in this situation, we all know that as well with the approach for Smith.
What it would be a short term loan until the end of the season giving us cover for Collins. I suspect he would be behind Washington as well if he can get himself fit.
It’s the final transfer window before restrictions are lifted and we get to see what Clowes and Warne can bring to the club.
Until then, we have to just get on with it and show a little understanding that none of this is an ideal situation for club, manager or fans.
Stop talking sense

Another proper underwhelming window. We're told we need to get a few in in January, but yet we're again about to start panic buying for the likes of Lee flipping Gregory. This is an all time low as a Derby Fan for me at 35. I appreciate our situation the last couple years but MY GOD.
Trying to get the cast off rejects from bottom of the table Wednesday and even that's not guaranteed. What a fall from Grace.
I would honestly rather have Chris Martin back. Atleast we'd have the feelings of nostalgia with it, aswel as the slight chance of him rekindling his link up play for us.
Lee Flipping Gregory.
🙃🙃
Bottom of the table Wednesday are still in the league above us.
If they had any decent players they would hardly be trying to punt them to a League 1 side without a couple of brass farthings to rub together.

Money attracts players.
Pound to a penny if Warne had the cash Bolton spent on that guy from Bristol Rovers we wouldn't be having the same conversation about not being able to get a striker in.
