From what I gather these were Newcastle's biggest gripes with Ashley:
Sports Direct everywhere (I'd rather visit the Sports Direct Stadium that we own, rather a stadium we don't) No ambition (Got close in the 90's now a mid-table Premier League, my heart bleeds...) Didn't spend big on players (They were record holders with Shearer and I think it went to their head, let's be honest even at Derby's peak for anyone under 40 we hardly splashed the cash. Stimac, Poom, Wanchope, Baiano, Eranio etc hardly broke transfer records but what excellent signings they were) Bottom line is Ashley or no Derby County, I'd take Ashley.
Besides people wanted a billionaire takeover well...

BUT THAT'S NOT THE BILLIONAIRE I WANTED!! please... at least he's visited Derby, I'd imagine the Sheik thought we had something to do with either The Kentucky Derby or Demolition Derby on the ps1.

I applaud your morals @IslandExile, but football doesn’t have any moral standards, would you see players gobbing and verbally assaulting the umpire in Cricket, or any other sport. We need an owner with the financial means to rebuild the club, that’s the bottom line.

I think I know how Ashley would deal with Gibson.
Invite him for a meeting in a country pub. Threaten to have him thrown in to a canal. Vomit in a fireplace after sinking a load of beer. Leave without elaborating any further. Problem solved.

That’s a really important hyphen, can it be added to the thread title so I don’t have a heart attack thinking Wayne’s thrown the towel in.

Just goes to show the calibre of local news, they should be pushing hard for answers, news that people want.
Yet they seem to be content on recycling the major papers rumours and/or making a whole article out of a couple sentences on Twitter:
How many times have we woke up to a post on our social feed with "Major Update" the first 3 out of 4 paragraphs are padding talking about the same stuff we've known for months, the point deduction, Kirchner pull out etc. Then at the very end of the article the "new" information on what Wayne Rooney tweeted about his dinner.
Local media is basically a glorified Press Gang now.

I would say this is like a rollercoaster with many ups and downs but that would indicate some excitement is involved. It's more like queuing for the rollercoaster, you get near the front only to be told it's closed, try again tomorrow.

I wouldn't be too concerned about the quietness of remaining parties as well as the admin team regarding the preferred bidder, it's called professionalism (however I as well would like to see some movement very soon).
Let's be honest we wouldn't even know about the Chris "Like, Share & Subscribe" Kirchner bid and his withdrawal had it not plastered it all over Twitter.
The admins came out ASAP and nipped in the bud any media sensationalism who probably would have alluded to that we're finished as a football club and/or the admin team are farting around based just on Kirchner withdrawal tweet, when the reality is he got out bid, took his toys and went home.

Rush and his pals for me.....the more Mel Morris tried to fling crap at him the more I've come to believe it was Morris who was the dodgy partner not Sam.
(And I saw the best football in years when Rush was involved)

19 questions and "answers" from the EFL, bloody hell that's means my social media feed is going to be swamped with at least 38 individual articles from both the Telegraph and Derbyshire Live on this matter.

I wrote off these past 2 games, so will be very happy with a point tomorrow. 4 from 6 against the two teams that seem to be steamrolling the Championship I'd take any day.
That said I probably would have took 3 from 6 but don't want to be that negative for tomorrows game.

Just never seems fazed or defeatist about the situation, so impressive given the horrendous circumstances. I really hope he gets the chance to manage us in a stable state....he absolutely deserves it.
Lesser men would have walked from this nonsense months ago. You find out a lot about people in adversity.

The first game I ever went to was Aston Villa at home. I don’t remember much about the game apart from this giant of a Centre back who, during the first half took a mid air ball under control, proceeded to do kick ups with it then took on the onrushing attacker and played and inch perfect 30 yard pass.
Open mouthed I asked my dad, “who’s that dad?? He’s amazing!”
He replied “Igor Stimac son, watch him as much as you can because it’s rare you get to see a true world class player playing for Derby and he won’t be here for long”
He’s been my all time favourite Derby player ever since, my god that side with Stimac, Eranio, Baiano was frightening

Hi all - some extra international break listening from us, should you fancy it

Few players had as big an impact on the modern fortunes of Derby County as Igor Stimac. As international star at his peak when he joined the Rams in 1995, Igor's capture and the subsequent 20-game unbeaten run rocketed Derby up the league and on to eventual promotion to the Premier League.

In this in-depth chat about his four years at Pride Park, author Ryan Hills ('Pride') talks to Igor about the tactical change he made with Jim Smith which was the catalyst for promotion, persuading Aljosa Asanovic to join the following summer, the move from the Baseball Ground to Pride Park, and the reasons behind his eventual departure for West Ham in 1999.

A must-listen for all fans given Igor's status as one of our best ever foreign signings, we're delighted to bring you this exclusive interview with a Derby County great.

This podcast is out now on our Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/stevebloomerswashing

Here's a little clip as a teaser, about the moment Igor was asked when he was unveiled (when Derby were 17th), what are the aims for that season?
