taffyram reacted to Srg in Post Cambridge Warne Out Poll
Today was my tipping point.
He talks a good game but what actually ends up on the pitch is so far removed from that. Pressing? We don’t do it. Pace? Didn’t bother signing any. So what does that leave us with?
First half was ok. Individual errors and pace of play the main issues. However, you could see Cambridge were comfortable pushing us down the sides and knowing our cross would be bad, no one would be in the box or we would turn around and go back. There was no central threat with Waghorn hiding and Collins not moving. No one wanted it and wanted to be creative in there.
Then the second half hits… he waits 25 minutes to change it despite it being obvious after just 5 minutes of the second half that literally nothing had changed. We were still doing the same thing and still playing slowly.
The sub he made? Puts our most creative, attacking central player wide left. Absolutely genius move. So not only did it not help, it removed the balance of having an actual wide player out there. Then he kept Korey Smith on until 2 minutes to go despite wanting 3-5 business days on the ball every time he touched it, and the ineffectual Collins ambling about.
All in all, it’s showed me he’s either watching a different game or cannot put across his ideas, or both. Regardless, that’s me tapping out. I tried, I really did. But I want someone else now.

taffyram reacted to Jayram in Its like Clough all over again...... Bored Stiff Today!
Some people on here say it’s a results business and it doesn’t matter about the style of football as long as we win. Maybe that’s true for some but it should also be about entertainment. It costs me around £3700 a season following the team home and away. I live over 100 miles from Derby so every game is an effort to get to, especially financially during a cost of living crisis such as we are in. For that effort and expenditure I’d like to see some exciting football, have something to look forward to every weekend. Instead, I’m finding reasons not to go to midweek home matches or away games that in other times I might have made the effort to attend. The only time I’ve felt this disinterested about the Rams before was during the latter end of Clough/Rowett era’s. I’m so bored I can barely be bothered but I keep plugging away in the hope that things will change, despite evidence to the contrary.
It’s become simple for me. If PW doesn’t get us promoted at the end of this season and he is still the manager for the following season I will not be renewing my season ticket. I cannot face paying to watch another season of his brand of football.

I think he is a decent man with good principles. Saturday v Cambridge will show whether or not he is a decent coach with good tactical awareness. I really hope we win, build more confidence and put a cohesive performance in that the fans go home proud of. If not I would appoint him head of HR and get Colin in.

taffyram reacted to SK47 in I Feel As Fans, A Lot Of Us Have It Wrong.
After watching Paul Warnes Cambridge interview regarding the Josh Vicars situation, I can't help but feel we have it wrong about what we value in a manager.
I understand football is about results and success, but sometimes, seeing a managers humility and connection as a humanbeing with the players, especially at times of trauma, beats the lot for me.
I've been critical of Warne, as have a lot of us, but I would love nothing more than for Warne to get us promoted. I know his "let's be mates" mentality can be a bit cringe, and his 352 does your head in, but you can tell he really cares about those around him, and I would much rather be in the trenches with a man like Warne than someone coming here for a quick cheque.
I'm crossing everything that things go right on the pitch, but regardless of that, I just wanna commend him for the person he is.
Salute to you Mr Warne.

Have they conveniently overlooked the other 73 years we've had in the top division which probably includes about 50 top half finishes, 3 runner up positions and 2 titles.

If that's what's in the contract, yes, we will. s*** happens. Unfortunately, it always seems to happen at Derby. Light training session and he tears his quad taking his 4th practice corner... the Derby Way.

Apparently Newcastle scored as many goals in 67 minutes as Chelsea have in 5 months. I didn't check it though.

Look lads just relax and play your football win that battle in midfield and win it early and the whole game becomes whole lot easier. For that to happen you need pick up game stand ground at times and say to your selfs not this time you shall not pass you shall not score because we are we are doing this josh Vickers and for his family after loss of beautiful wife. We are derby and this club we stand togather as one from.owner clubs and to the fans.
We are Derby

Just taking the corresponding fixtures from last season that we've already had this season...
Teams result last season result this points last season points this
Burton /Rams 1-1 0-3 1 3
Rams / Oxford 1-0 1-2 3 0
Rams / Fleetwood 0-2 1-0 0 3
Posh / Rams 2-0 2-4 0 3
Bolton / Rams 0-0 2-1 1 0
Rams Pompey 1-1 1-1 1 1
TOTAL 6 10
We are 4 points ahead of where we were last season in those games. No reason not to be happy in a results based game. We'd all like to see more football like that 20 odd minute spell at Peterborough. IMO injuries haven't helped and better play will come once we are back to a fully fit squad. IMO. Not in every game and not for 90 minutes. That is not going to happen.

The average height of the squad has got higher, is that an improvement?

The number of good characters in the dressing room has increased dramatically. They can't play football together very well, but in training they have a right laugh with each other.

Honestly don’t think it’ll ever get beaten; it was the perfect storm. But there was immense gallows humour along the way; pretending we scored a goal and just being past the point of caring/worrying and just having a nice day out. Working in leicester, was explaining the pretending to score thing to a load of leicester fans who I don’t think actually believed me that eventually we’d get most the ground up on their feet pretending we’d scored a goal. Mental.
My hazy memory says it could have been all different if it wasn’t for a great Jo hart save denying us a deserved equaliser at Man City early doors in the season.
