Bird is younger but just as slow and although can be be neat  and tidy he doesn’t score or seem to want to get involved …you can only have one of them in mid for me and it wouldn’t be young max I’m afraid felt for Thommo tonight because I thought he did quite well and has more energy

There is a lot going on in these accounts and it is only 9 months but it's probably reasonable to say that with our wage bill that high (in L1 terms) we are not sustainable unless the owner bankrolls the club and covers the losses. That's something worth considering when we spent half the season moaning that we did not buy Peterborough's reserve striker. Clowes is indeed a saint!

Another thing which impresses me about Warne:
This Derby team displays basically no dissent. It may just be that the players are a good group but I’d imagine it comes from the management. They never seem to falsely claim set pieces, they never shout at the ref. Well, certainly less than other teams I’ve seen.

Despite my earlier suggestion for a change, on the whole, I do agree with your opening paragraph.  My call for change was more poking my nose into the conversation than a crusade for change, if I'm honest.
I'd probably say "There's little point in changing it, as there's little room for improvement" as opposed to "There's nothing wrong with it", but that aside, I'm with you.  We all know where we stand before a ball is kicked, and we all know what needs to be achieved, and by when.  As you say, we all know where that line is.  And it's as fair as it's likely ever to be.

Nothing wrong with the current system in my opinion. At the end of the day there will always be a cut off point for automatic promotion. Its a binary. You're either above the line or below the line.
It's a second chance for the 3rd team to gain promotion, everything is in that team's favour and more often than not, the 3rd placed team wins it.
If you had the 3rd team straight into the final, somehow I think that just increases the jeopardy. It would be a random game played weeks after the seasons end. In this scenario, the opposition team joining them in the final would surely be more 'ready' for the final given they potentially will have played two games beforehand and will have built up some momentum. If we're looking for fairness, we need more games not less.

The EFL and football leagues around the world have, for over a 100 years, decided that 46 games or less have been enough games to fairly decide who is good enough to win championships, gain promotions or bad enough to suffer relegations. 
At the end of the day, football league tables are just statistics and these are the statistics that decide where we play next season. What do you suggest, each season to last 5 or 6 years and 2 or 3 hundred matches, so we know who's truly the best and worst and who really deserves promotion and relegation?

No, it keeps teams and fans interested throughout the season. Not perfect, but works ok for me.

Hm, Barks scored and also got an assist but apparently he was no good and has been bad for quite a while. From december he's played 90 mins only once (today, his second 90 mins in the league this season), average being less than 60 minutes a game and yet in those last 8 league games he's scored four and assisted three. That's better than NML for example in that same time. I thought he was doing ok though.

Job done, and deserved, created more chances and more shots at goal plus over 60 percent possession, just had 2 lapses of concentration to give Burton there goals, great winning goal from Hourihane, would like to see Wildsmith back in goal, and also need Elder to start performing better, with more game time I think he will get stronger , hope to get 2 more attacking players in before the transfer window closes to push us over the line, as I am feeling confident that we can get the job done. After our diabolical showing on Tuesday. I'm hoping as a form of an apology, our players want to give us a better performance than they gave against Bradford. That they are ready to fight and scrap for every ball.  We move the ball quickly, soundly beat Burton and come Monday night we are sat second in the table.
Then use that result as a springboard to push us on to promotion.
I'll even happily suffer seeing Boycie's gurning mug at the start of every match day thread, if it results in us being back in the Championship.

I know very game is vital but Portsmouth have really opened up a golden opportunity for the rest of the top 8 to stay in touch. I thought top spot was long gone.... We have to win one game at a time.

I will be very disappointed if we start groaning on Monday evening at the first misplaced pass. This is such a big opportunity for us and a positive crowd can make a big difference.

This is a lesson for our fans to not be too negative of our players. We might drop the odd irritating stinker i.e. Bradford and we might not sign anyone this month but were in the mix and they need all the support they can get!
