He couldn't deal with crosses or command his area, and I believe if we'd have started with Carson in the play off final we'd have won that play off final. I'm glad he's doing well in Scotland, but I always felt he flattered with some of his shot-stopping whilst here and was not more than a bottom-half championship goalkeeper.
If we continued to start Carson we wouldn't have made the playoff final in the first place.

no doubt pep has been a big part of it. but haven't artificially inflated sponsorship deals also allowed them to compete alongside teams with bigger international supporter base ?

I’d deny that.
We liked to get it forward quickly, but mixed up how we did that. To say we just played hoof ball is very inaccurate.
Exactly this. Warne's style is direct in that he wants to press high and play quickly. I think he wants us to play similar to Klopp's Liverpool.
He's not overly bothered about possession and keeping the ball for expensive periods, he wants us to continually press and force the opposition into mistakes and not let the foot off the pedal for 90 minutes basically.
Of course this can be tiring for players and requires high fitness levels but it can be very effective and exciting to watch. Whether we play with the ball on the floor or in the air is by the by.
In that middle part of the season we saw this in fruition. Take the 4-0 demolition of Accrington Stanley. We pressed the life out of them and never let up. When we got the ball we immediately looked forwards and knitted together some really nice passing moves to get the ball into the net. It was a good watch.
Last season was good at times and not so good at others but I can see what Warne is trying to do and this was with no pre season and no summer transfer window. Give the bloke a chance.

Because I watched us last season.
So did I and 'hoof ball' was not the phrase that came to mind when watching Derby play. I'm not saying that we played amazing every game because we didn't. But at times we played some great stuff particularly in that middle part of the season I thought we looked really good. This idea that under Warne we're going to pumping it long every game is just utter nonsense and to be honest a lot of it is football snobbery.

He ain’t gonna stay. I’d be getting away from a club where the balls gonna be punted over my head all season ASAP. No wonder he’s taking such a pay cut
How do you know the ball is going to be punted over his head all season? I'd like to know what you're basing this off. To me it sounds like an agenda based on absolutely nothing.

Stephen Kenny Republic of Ireland manager on Knight:
"He's another one on the verge of a move now."
"A lot of clubs want to buy Jason, which will be good for him, to get back to playing at a level higher than League One."
"Derby have been great to him, he's played a high amount of games for them for someone so young. But he's at that stage where he probably needs to go and play at a higher level to kick on."

So am I right in saying that whenever the ball touches a players hand in the box it's a penalty? Got it.

How on gods green earth is that a penalty

I keep seeing this, but having watched it this season - I can’t for the life of me why. In terms of quality, it’s poor and teams typically need 10 chances to score 1 goal.
I came into it not expecting much and having watched a full season of it - it’s worse than I anticipated.
Yep, barring a few teams the quality just isn't there. Even Sheffield Wednesday aren't a great footballing team if you actually watch them play yet they have amassed 96 points and eventually been promoted. You don't have to be brilliant you just have to be competent because most weeks you are playing pub sides.

not long after xmas. He made it known he’d want to be with us if we were promoted but implied strongly that if we weren't he’d be off. And I think (though not certain) it reflected comments allegedly made by his international manager Wouldn’t be surprised to see him on the fringe of a prem side next year (Luton, Burnley?) - I reckon he's the only outfield player we now have who could live at that level (if you exclude an injury free Bielik)
Why would premier League teams want him in their squad? He's not shown that he's capable of playing at that level. I even have doubts about championship teams coming in with decent offers. At the end of the day he's not stood out in league one. Would be much better off staying here improving his game and having a good season.

Recruitment needs to be good but top 2 should absolutely be the target. It's taken Sheff Wed 2 seasons to get back, should be the same for us really.

N'Golo Kante had 1 goal and 4 assists in the season Leicester won the Premier League.
I think generally we don't have enough goals in us. We've been very reliant on McGoldrick. We're like Tottenham in that if Harry Kane wasn't there for them this season, where are the goals coming from? We need to be more like Man City. If it's not Haaland it's De Bruyne, Gundogan, Silva the list goes on and on.

It's because Bristol city really isn't that much of a step up. But maybe this is the true reflection of the player.
