Poor fans probably wouldn't have backed it.

The sort who think Derby should automatically be right up the top of the league, regardless of the circumstances.

We don't have a god given right to be top of the league but even under a business plan I think we can still expect to be competitive.

I think our strategy last summer was a good one. We wanted to try and compete for promotion. We needed to get some good experienced players in to compliment our youngsters that we still had on the books and that's exactly what we did.

    I think the opposite.

Last season was the chance to go in that direction, I believe everyone would have accepted the new reality and got behind the boys regardless.

Once we started bringing in ex prem footballers, and well known Championship players, that increased the fans expectations, alongside the recruitment of a new management team a few weeks later.

I'm not saying the strategy DC went for was right or wrong, but if we'd have gone down the route of playing the kids, I'd suggest our fans would've backed it well beyond 15 games.

The fans wouldn't have backed it because we would be sitting at the bottom of the league. Derby county in League one should be at the top competing for promotion. Ultimately it's not about older players for the short term or buying young players for the long term. You need both. It's the blend of youth and experience that makes a well balanced team.

And yet, it is usually is.

Imagine if Forest had said "No, we must stop all these managerial changes and keep Chris Hughton! He's an experienced manager who knows how to get teams promoted from the Championship, it will do us no good getting rid of him"

Chris hughton had overseen a run of 1 point from 7 games playing some of the most boring football forest fans had seen. It was obvious it had to go. We are not even close to being at that stage with Warne. You are jumping the gun.

People keep saying we're only 4 games in, while conveniently forgetting last season's collapse.

We're also 5 games in. Does getting spanked by Blackpool reserves not count for some reason?

I think calling it a collapse is hyperbolic. Our form was very inconsistent at the back end of last season but it was more like we ran out of steam.

Whilst I generally enjoy listening to Warne I don’t agree with his comments basically telling the squad that they won’t get promoted.

there’s still time for some signings to come in, I imagine he had a negative mindset after learning about the length of time that the injured players would be out for.

if we can’t get out of League One this season then that will fall squarely at his feet.

I seem to remember a video of him telling the team in pre season that promotion is the aim.

I disagree. It's an excuse. I bet that even with the business plan, we were among the biggest spenders on wages last season. Time will tell I suppose.

I still refuse to believe Plymouth spent much. Half decent manager and a motivated squad will always walk this league.

It's not always about wages. You need the right makeup of squad. We didn't last season and still do not. We lack in several key areas. And maybe it's this business plan that is stopping us getting the key players we need? Who knows
