The evidence that he will score goals wherever he goes is pretty sparse in recent seasons.
And he's slow. He's soooo slow. The last thing we need.

What frustrates me is that we have now kicked off the season and as a squad we don't seem much stronger than last season.
We've brought in a load of defensive players but what we actually needed to strengthen was the midfield and the top end of the pitch.
We needed to bring in creativity, pace, goalscorers and we simply have not done it. We have lost two good players in McGoldrick and Knight and have not replaced them.
Clowes said that Warne has been given a budget which is better than our rivals and one that he thinks is good enough to get us out of this league. So there are little excuses.

Brown has done nothing to start a game much as it would be a positive sometime this season.
Rather see him play then any other forward. He has the pace we currently lack and desperately need

I'd play this team against Burton
Wildsmith
Wilson Bradley Cashin Forsyth
Bird
Hourihane Sibley
NML Waghorn Brown

These players are meant to want to play in the Championship. The younger ones. Bird, Cashin etc are also wanting to probably move on and play at a higher level.
If they can only play in one formation they aren't gonna get very far. Managers change formations during games.
They have to learn. He clearly doesn't want them playing sideways or backwards. But they do it anyway.
They have no devine right to go and play at a higher level. They need to show more for Derby County. Bird hardly stood out in League one last season. They need to get their heads down and get this club to where it needs to be.

My biggest concern is that in the space of a week Warne has gone from saying 'the lads are great and everyone is pulling in the right direction', or words to that effect, to 'they've had their heads turned and I don't know what to do'.
We're f*****.
Exactly. How is this possible in the space of a few days. It's bizarre. To me it just seems like the pressure has got on top of him in the moment. He will regret those comments later on.

They're all feeling the pressure because let's face it none of them are used to it

Coming out and saying this seems worrying
Why have they? You won't be holding them hostage then? How many?

As i said, concerns
Nail on head. You can't play the high tempo football that Warne wants with old and slow players. You can carry the odd one or two but no more than that. We lack that something special in our squad, a bit of guile, pace and creativity.

If you asked me a few weeks ago if I'd have waghorn back I would have said no but at this point I wouldn't be against it. He's better than what we have up top.

Chelsea won the champions League a couple of years ago playing 3 at the back

What this game tells me more than anything is how desperately we need Sibley back. Without him we have so little guile and creativity around the opposition box. Would have made a big difference today.
We need good creative attacking players full stop.

QPR are 4-0 down at Watford 😂
-
I just think we need something different. We are signing workmanlike strikers. We desperately need a bit of pace and trickery up front. There must be someone out there who we can get despite the restrictions.

Really?! Smith is a better player & far more productive than Waghorn. He’s an ideal signing!
On what basis? Smith has spent the vast majority of his career in the lower leagues. Waghorn has played higher. His former clubs include Rangers, Leicester, Ipswich and us.

He scored 17 goals for a team that got promoted out of this division, how exciting do you want it?
Why are sheff wed getting rid then?
-
If this is the best we can actually do this season then I can't complain. But none of these potential strikers are that exciting
-
We've lost the plot if we let Bird go. If we can't reinvest the money I'd much rather us keep the player and hope we are a championship club this time next season
